Not sure how many but they were definitely loduer.

    Around fifty at least.

Can never tell with the hill side who's with what club as most folk by the fence aren't bedecked in club colours but they had a fair sized group in the middle of the stand.

Oh and they had a huge flag.

      The goals

Aberdeen's Stu's report does not do justice to the two goals that were scored although the match, otherwise, was as he described, pretty uninspiring, although UCD looked like they might always score.
But the two goals were both real class.
The first was a good low cross from Padge from the left end line, after he had received a very slick pass from Micko. The cross was then dummied very neatly by Robbie Martin and that gave Tony Mac a clear shoot, which the goalie did well to stop but Tony made no mistake with the rebound.
The second goal was a pitch-length movement. Someone cleared it to Dupay who got it inside his own half. He controlled it and ran at the defence and had two options to pass. He choose to give it to Hurley who was running up in the inside right position. He got it about 30 yards out and when he got to the edge of the penalty area, he cheekily chipped it over the out-rushing goalie. It was just like the third Milan goal against Liverpool in the Euro Cup final.

UCD deserved the win, no question. Robbie Collins is fighting a losing battle as our only decent striker at this point. Although due to the lack of effort from those immediately around him, his talents are usually wasted as he sprints to keep long balls in play and win his team a corner or a throw...We were a far more dangerous prospect up-front while Michael Holt was there, setting people up and banging in the goals

We need Keely to be shrewd and to find a Holtesque striker very soon, particularly as Dundalk are lashing in goals for fun. Godd luck to UCD in the Cup.

A surreal experience listening to updates on RTE long wave in the Faroes! It sounded like HF were on top in the first half but our defence was holding them out without too much trouble although Quigley had a decent save to make. Your man on the radio was saying that if anyone was going to score in the second half that it would be us (he didn't sound like he thought a goal was too likely though!).

Hurley's goal was quality by the sounds of it, looking forward to seeing it on EL Weekly. Was there a camera at the game?

          Threads merged also.

What about Vaughan? De Salvo was waxing lyrical about him in his match updates. I thought he was your best signing before the season. Is he not working well with Collins? I'm glad you lads in the Faroes could get RTE because they've dropped the MW broadcast on RTE.ie.

Were you at the game? If so you wouldn't ask "What about Vaughan?". He has been little short of brutal so far this year. He is off the pace, slow, tired looking and ALWAYS with his back to goal He has unquestionable ability and good feet, but I'm waking up to the cold fact that this may be one year too far for him. He has 4 goals so far this season, two came against Galway in a 4-1 win, both headers set up beautifully by great wing play, one was a peno and the other one (against Limerick) he can't even remember because he was knocked unconscious going for the header Michael Holt had 5 inside the first month before he left...Anyway, when we had Holt we could start him on the left and effectively play with an interchangeable 3 up front, Holt providing all sort of options...but with Holty gone and Philly Gorman in argueably worse form than Vaughan (who is club captain by the way ) Poor Robbie Collins is cutting a lonely and increasingly frustrated figure up front. As are we in the stands. Astute signing very much needed.

If so I wouldn't be complaining about lack of coverage on the internet. Maynard the radio commentator reckoned he was doing great. I was at the League Cup game and to the best of my knowledge he wasn't playing. Collins came on as a sub and looked very sharp. If my memory serves me correctly Vaughan was banging them in for Dundalk last season. Funny, I thought Philly Hughes was a great player last season and can't figure out why either of our clubs released him. He'd certainly be doing the donkey work to free up Collins. Holt leaving was a bitter blow alright, just out of the blue. His last ever goal for you was class.
