    Collingwood Cup

The draw has been made for this year's Collingwood cup. It's in Limerick this year starting on Monday week and going on to the Friday. UCD have UL, St. Mary's and Magee in their group, with UL being first up on the first day of the competition. Draw here.

So what team are we sending to that? Think it alternates between the Freshers and the Superleague squad (I was training for a while with the team that went up there one year! One of the Betis made it up). Isn't that where Pat Burke was playing well last year before getting injured again?

If the freshers+ were playing the Harding, I'd imagine it would be the inters + some of the under 21s. There's no real reason to send an understrength team as it's pre-season, may as well give the players some competitive match practice.

Don't jinx it! We lost out last year without losing a game.

UUJ and UCC are usually stong, UUJ usually have a few IL players and UCC have a few City/Ramblers heads but a lot less than UUJ. The RCSI group is a joke, if DIT don't win that I'd be surprised (DCU are woeful).

0-0 draw with UL yesterday and St. Mary's have pulled out so it's likely to come down to who beats Magee by more.

UCD beat Magee 5 nil yesterday with goals from McWalter (2), Conor Salmon (2) and Paul Byrne. So UL must beat Magee by more than 5 goals today to progress. Anyone know wat will happen if they score 5? Draw lots?

I haven't found anywhere online anyway. The UL website seems blissfully unaware of the competition and any other sites mentioning it just have the draw at best.

On further inspection, the Examiner are giving it some coverage: http://www.irishexaminer.com/pport/w...aewFBADppk.asp

Podgo's playing?! How on earth did we not beat UL with that team (or at least, a team with those scorers)?!

The Irish Times are usually good for scores in their Sports Round-Up section, I think.
