      UCD defender Hugh Davey has linked up with the Northern Irish under-23 squad for this week’s friendly against Serbia & Montenegro – despite picking up an injury in College’s scoreless draw with Kildare County on Saturday night.

      The former Blackburn Rovers trainee has been an ever-present for the Students this season, helping them to top spot in the First Division table.

      The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

          Northern Ireland under 23's drew 0-0 with Serbia/Montenego last night. It seems they were up against a good team and the goalie kept them in it. Hugh Davey played the first half left mid-field. See report at http://www.newsletter.co.uk/story/10787
