Have to agree with the various comments, the current situation in Cork does nothing for sport in the city, so it probably is best to let CCFC die, either through the courts or by the FAI, and let the FORAS club bring both hope and crowds back to Turner's Cross.
Cork City denied a licence; club to be wound up; FORAS to enter First Division

whether FORAS are involved or not a club in Cork thats not called Cork City FC won't work. People won't support it. Why should we start again with a new name just because of Arkaga and Coughlan? Get rid of the clown once and for all!"Its the bad players who are the luxury not the skillfull ones"

a friend of mine who wrote to Delaney pointing out Tommys crimes against City received a reply this morning in the post.
the text I received from him had the words "goose" and "cooked"
Heres hoping

There is no problem with a newly formed club applying to the FAI except that they would (presumably) have to start in the A championship. The only way Cork can maintain a team in the Premier (or 1st) Division is through the current entity. If Tom Coughlan were to transfer the club to FORAS (or someone else) they could continue as a Premier side presuming, of course, a way could be found to deal with monies currently owed.
Given the current mess the only options appear to be a new Cork City, hopefully facilitated in the 1st Division (SEE Derry City) or another League restructure allowing the FAI "invite" clubs into a new or revamped Premier Division / first DivisionComment

In fairness the FAI can't liquidate anything. They can only take footballing sanctions.
The dual contract issue wasn't particularly relevant to Wellvan liquidating, given the size of the debt that came to light we wouldn't have survived the year anyway.
Unless TNB walks away, the FAI can only apply footballing sanctions, which boil down to a refusal for a license application next year unless they can pin a rule breach on him for the season past.Comment
