Interesting angle. It'll jsut **** off the type of people who would never come to our games anyway, and thats no bad thing

Excellent ad, imo. Really hits home.

Kop out, what would have grabbed the people attention way more and got Pats headlines would be putting the name Celtic there as well.

Regardless i can't see it working but best of luck.

Simple and to the point. Nice one, though it might tick off people who support both Man U & St. Pats :D

In what terms? may get noticed by some, may help re-inforce floating Pats fans. The €10 tickets will help

Its not supposed to make man utd fans pack it in and follow Pats.

Will attract attention due to shock nature but can't see it attracting new supporters. Maybe if put Celtic in front of a union jack... ;)

has a poster ever attracted a new fan to a game? Its not about getting new fans, its about getting lapsed pats fans etc

Worth a try - i'm printing it & putting it up in work

€10 euro is working too - i'd normally have 1-2 coming with me - looks like at least 5 of us, maybe more - must get my tickets before theyre gone!

Great idea - good flag and good luck to St.Pat's, Drogs and Cork in Europe this week.

Love it (except for the Pat's bit, of course, and I would have put Celtic in there too).
edit: and Sunderland.

Classic.

Hopefully all three teams go through and take their mind of the league while we swoop in quietly.

Is the Pats game on TV?

Brillient advert by st.pats! I like the idea but I do think they should focus on their own club rather than enraging the aul barstoolers...

I think the actual poster won't get many extra through the gate (Price probably will), i always think it is better concentrate on the positives from your own club i.e. Fahy, Quigley, Kirby etc etc who are all quality players than trying to show up clubs from another country. But as i said i hope it works i think you should get a good gate with the €10 in.

I should point out that its one of the poster being considered by the club. The one they're probably going with isn't as striking (available at www.stpatsfc.com)

Jaysis, that's a big tenner Colm Meaney has. I want one of those!

BTW, would I be ok to buy a ticket on the night for this game? Any chance of it selling out?

Danny

only 3000 seats in richmond
already over 1000 sold
probably wont sell out but with a good bit of advertising, €10 admission and if the decent weather keeps up you never know

Close to 2,000 sold already. Capacity is limited to less than 3,000 in Richmond for UEFA games and once promotions, delegates, sponsors etc are taken care of there'll only be about 2,700 tickets on sale.

I'd get one this week if I was you!

It's the type of ad the GAA would like to have but too many toes would be stepped on in this outrageously pc world we live in.
I think it's purpose was to get a reaction, job done.
I like it though. Well done Pat's and lets hope all our teams get through.

....should be brought to a national level, double decker buses emblazoned with this poster, better still some Ryanair planes ferrying the thousands accross the water every Friday.Would certainly stick in the craw, truth hurts etc etc.I say this as a City , Celtic and Utd fan.

That certain club may be based in Britain but you wont find too many of their fans agreeing that they are a British club.

Great poster btw.

Brilliant poster...well done Pats.

An idea ALL eL clubs should use in fairness. And yes Celtic should definitely be included. Barstoolers need to be shown up for the embarassments to the country they are.

Interesting difference of opinions on it here (praising it) and on the shamrock ultras forum. Wonder what the Shamrock fans problems are with it!

It's a sad state of affairs when a football club has to resort to appealing to anti-British sentiment to try and persuade people to support their local team. I'm not blaming the club though, it's the Irish public that's to blame by continuing to support foreign teams and neglecting their own football league. The poster should have definately included Celtic though.

Think it is a great poster but i think sunderland and celtic should be there too. i support celtic as much as anyone else on here, but they are another club that many of the sunshiners and barstoolers attach themselves to. Posters like that with the club names in the butchers apron will hit home for some people and if nothing else get them thinking. Great idea and hopefully it will get a few extra people out.

pity they didnt go ahead with the ad, mightn't have added to the gates but would have generated controversy and publicity,

They should have ran the ad in a few red tops, bar stoolers would go crazy. Would have created a stir I'm sure. Could possible run it in the future?

blueblood
31/07/2008, 7:51 PM
Aw pity they didn't run it, anybody know why? Hope it wasn't just to be all PC, the ad isn't offensive, just like that " Be Irish, Buy Irish" slogan isn't offensive. Anyone that dose get offended though, the truth hurths. I agree Celtic or even Glasgow should also be added :)

Mayo_Bhoy

Why Glasgow? Club name is Celtic Football Club, not Glasgow Celtic.
