just on the youths players you mentioned, the majority to my knowledge were not from thurles and have all gone or stopped playing.

players like david horan, donal duggan, ted o connor, padraig fogarty were from thurles added to that ken ryan, martin darmody and james scott who are from two mile borris. I have to agree that if that team had stayed together they would have challenged for an awful lot. but unfortunately you can say that about most clubs. clonmel celtic have had youth players such as ian barnes, adam mcsherry, wack o donnell. Add those players to what is at the club now and that would be a very decent team but the bigger clubs have and always will take players. Even dwayne burns was with the clonmel celtic youth team that won the munster youths cup!

St. Michael's 1 -0 Clonmel Town
Paul Breen with the goal. League is still CTFC's to lose but this is a good win for Saints and they could challenge in the MJC if they get a few home ties.

Wasn't there but whilst its always hard to take a defeat to Michaels I suppose this was the one to lose. Town still well in control in the league.
I presume you mean the FAI as Town have knocked Michaels out of the MJC

im pretty sure he meant fai and were in last 32 and nobody will want to play us,im not saying were all of a sudden a brilliant side all of a sudden but sunday was hugely impressive and if the truth be told 3-0 would have been a much fairer reflection of saints dominance, town still in the driving seat in the league but a draw or two along the way would blow it wide open

Hold on 3-0!!!, thats not correct. Michael's weren't that much on top. I don't remember Richie Ryan having to make a save. What about Derek Breen's save from David McGrath.
A draw would have been a fair result. In saying that Saints were much better than they were in Clonmel 2 weeks ago. Great goal from Paul Breen. Well done saints but don't talk ****e and say they were three goals better when they weren't

please tell me you werent at the game?? chester missed an open goal and we failed to hit the target in and around the box several times??? i openly criticised our performance right here on foot 2 weeks ago and said town were far superior, you need to be objective and not a single person could call a draw sunday a fair outcome,no chance, would be very interested to hear any other opinions from anyone else who was at the game???

Dony know where your getting the idea that a draw would have been a fair result if anything it should have been a bigger wining margin for Saints. Town didnt get a sniff for the first 30 mins and had to go man for man. Saints performance was about 10 times better than it was 2 weeks ago(WOULDNT BE HARD) they changed their system to and worked on their strengths and had Baggsy and Shane Mc back. Davy Ryan had a outstanding game in the middle of the park he was majestic.
You need to call he game as you see it not with TUNNEL VISION! Saints Christmas party was on Sunday night so that result got the party off to a tremendous start. Hopefully Saints can kick on from this and get a decent run in the FAI.
Happy Christmas to all HO HA HO!:D

Apologies. Yes I did mean the FAIJC and not the MJC.
3-0 would have flattered Saints IMO but they did deserve all 3 points. 1-nill about right. CTFC failed to mount any credibile response after going one down which was dissapointing considering they have hit some good form of late.
Happy Christmas all!!!

They should have held onto Paul Kennedy. 80 goals in 2 years with celtic and michaels.

What i cant understand is how paul kennedy has not been given a junior cap especially with alan barry in the squad. as i said previously 80 goals in 2 seasons.

League is wide open again after Rock Rovers defeated Clonmel Town. Town must be rattled a bit now 2 league defeats on the trot. Anyone at it what way did the scoring go??

Rock went 2-0 up after 20 mins.Town pulled 2 goals back within five minutes of the start of the second half. Both goals had more than there share of luck to say the least.Town pilled on the pressure but the rock hit them on the break with 20 mins to go to win 3-2.Rock played very well and deserved what they got.Town were very ordinary going forward.

Anybody hear anything about Charlie Mckeveer leaving Town or is it just another rumour.
What i know for fact is that when Town played Rock Rovers over the Xmas period,he was down the road watching Old Bridge v Clonmel celtic at the same time as his own teams match.Hence Town were beaten, did he not take the Rock seriously?Left with egg on his face.

I doubt that very much. Was at the match Sunday and McKeever was there, why would he leave at this stage of the season?

He is still the manager. Town are not a great side by any stretch. i think Celtic will beat them in the munster and they won't go far in FAI

Look I am entitled to my view. I watch Town week in week out, and I don't think they are playing well. Celtic have never beaten them but I think they will get the better of Town. Its a local derby so anything could happen

********, you do nothing but give out about Town on this site. You have a go at everyone in the club, the manager, players, you have had a continous campaign against the officers in the club most notably Muiris Walsh, that Michael's fan is correct, support the team!!

Thank you, some common sense on this site for once, all town fan does is knock town and everyone in the club, but to say 6-0 was a blip is just laughable even if celtic do beat town which i do not see happening, how can you call 6-0 a blip:)

celtic were missing 5 players through illness. 4 of which would have started. probably still would have lost but not by 6 goals. they have a limited squad at the best of times but take 4 certain staters out and its a lot harder
i see ian barnes and dwayne byrnes played for tipp senior footballers the wknd. surely this will effect towns fai mjc and tsdl hopes for rest of season if they attempt to juggle both codes

so if town are in trouble who will stop them? are michaels or even peake genuine challengers?
hooper74
16/01/2009, 12:14 PM
saints are definite challengers, they have the experience to capitalise on any more slip ups from town and its in their own hands as they play villa and town, however bansha on sunday could be awkward but any slip up and the league is over for them, can peake stay consistent and will they score enough goals to win awkward away games because they will always concede

The league is closer this season than recent ones. Town still slight favourites but I don't think are great. They will struggle next sunday against Celtic in the MJC , in fact I think celtic will beat them

I ain't stirring. I didn't think Town played well yesterday. Super save from Richie Ryan from Kennedy pen. If that goes in or Kennedy takes that easy chance, then it could have been a different result. Well done to Town but they will need to improve

Town didn't play well especially in the 1st half but they bossed the 2nd half. David McGrath very isolated up front.
Read the celtic report of the game, don't how they can say Graham Doyle is the best distributor of the ball in South Tipperary, that it is **** talk. As for Craig Condon being the best defender, he is good but as for being the defender on show, don't make me laugh

I heard last night that some officer from Town is in trouble for approaching Michael Freiberg at half time last Sunday. Apparently words were exchanged and the person also went into the ref's dressingroom as well. Any truth to this?

Now that we know who it was was there any justification for his actions, i often felt like doing it myself. The problem with the refs is they have no one to answer to, their performance is very rarely examined so they dont get corrected for mistakes they make, so they keep on making them! We all appreciate it isnt an easy job and there is lots of abuse but if your geting paid 70 euro to do a job that no one inspects and you dont have to answer to would you give a hoot !
