Just wondering lads, does anybody know if St Michaels got de points off of Rosegreen last week for Rosegreen not able to field a team..That is the rule isnt it????
West Hammer
25/02/2009, 5:58 PM
If Rosegreen did give a walkover, then points will go to St Michael's ,also a fine of between €200 - €300. If a team gives 3 walkovers in 1 season they will be withdrawn from the league.

Lads, just want to wish Rock Rovers the best of luck this weekend in what will surely be the biggest game and attract the biggest crowd to a game in Carrick in many years,as if the match needed any extra spice added to it the fact Carrick are gone out of the FAI seems to have made this game even more significant..I think it will be closer than people think with maybe only the 1 goal in it,anyone from the TSDL not playing this weekend should definitely check out this match.Best of luck to both teams(especially the rock:):):))

Carrick were 5 up after 30 mins and eased up considerably after that. Game had hardly any nasty challenges so all those who came to witness a scrap were badly dissapointed. The Hoops were up for it and from first whistle never looked in any danger.
taught rock would put up alot better performance than that. were they at full strength

moroney back for town and among the scorers sunday.....huge boost for them they seem to be coming good at the right time whereas peake are doing what they do best cracking under the pressure......2 weeks ago they were looking at challenging on 3 fronts.....i cannot see them beating saints on sunday and a draw will not be good enough

The draw for the next round of the Tipperary Cup is on Tipp FM on Monday night.
‘Town will need to up their performance for next week – even allowing for a strong subs bench I thought they were poor enough yesterday. Have to say I thought the ‘tackle’ by Paul Breen on Tony Scully was an act of thuggery – he saw his opportunity from a mile off and ‘did’ him – a disgrace! Hopefully he’ll have recovered for next week (doesn’t look good the way he was helped back to dressing rooms). I see also Town have a game on Paddy’s day – won’t help them I’d imagine – although Moroney for one I’d say could do with a bit of sharpness.

The league is wide open now!
Peake have to play Michaels at home and Town away i believe.
Do Michaels and Town have to play each other again??

It was just the result Peake Villa wanted yesterday, have to agree it was a terrible tackle by Breen and not something we want to see on a soccer pitch or see from a junior international
As for thuggery another fine example came numerous times during the match from the Town right back who has no place on a soccer pitch in my opinion.
He should have been given a straight red for what he did
why were Barnes and Dwayne on the bench yesterday?

Darren Burns was quite the hard man alright grabbing the young Saints winger up by the throat – no chance that he would have done it to any of the rest of his opponents – and while not defending him (couldn’t complain if he’d been sent off) he wasn’t actually going to throttle the chap. Serious damage could – and may have been done to Tony Scully which I think puts that challenge on a different level to the type of bitching and petulance that is unfortunately typical of Town / Saints games. And for that reason I’d imagine Burns & Barnes were on the bench – will Steven Ryan be suspended for FAI game – not that big a loss if so.

Yeah hopefully it isn't a serious injury nobody likes to see that on a soccer pitch. I was amazed at the amount of vendettas players on both sides had against one another. anytime a free was awarded there was nearly always a reaction from players to one another instead of getting on with the game.
Town have a tough one next week and Scully will be a big loss, I would be amazed if he was able to even tog out next week.
Breen was lucky not to have gotten a straight red against Rock Rovers too so I've heard.
Wonder if that will affect his international chances?

I seen that lad playing a couple of times and dont rate him that highly, surely simon scully would be a better full back than him.

scully will be playing next week and tuesday nite if rosegreen show up,he made a meal out of the tackle,he saw it coming and hurdled it,thats not to say it wasnt a bad challenge and it did warrant a straight red for intent but he wasnt badly hurt, how darrwn burns stayed on the pitch was the biggest surprise, also where was mckeever?

i'm not a town fan but I dont think darren burns would be one bit worried about any of the opposing michaels team or coaching staff. you are pretty naive to think otherwise.

You should be careful with your wording.. thuggery and "did him" are very strong . It was a mistimed tackle that looked allot worse than it actually was. Paul breen was commited to challenge and Tony got a knick on the ball before him and then tried to hurdle the challenge but got caught. Tony will be available to play this sunday against sheriff so it did look worse than it was.. Paul Breen is not a nasty vindictive player.. He is hard and fair player and as I said it was a mistimed tackle.

went up to bansha yesterday for their relegation decider. they battled well and deserved a draw. as for peake , i hadnt seen them in a while but they looked the furthest thing from league champions yesterday. town must be laughing at the amount of chances they have given them this year, a bit like how liverpool couldnt take advantage in england . town are just lucky that saints and villa are so poor. peake have a very shaky keeper and defence, nothing out wide to get crosses into the box and no pace up front. they have done brilliantly to be in contention but i expect both town and saints to beat them in the coming weeks.

I can only take you on your word as to his character and agree, with that in mind that the words used to the describe him are probably doing the chap a wrong – having said that I think it isn’t enough to say that he mis-timed the tackle. For a player of such experience (and at the highest level in his grade) to dive into a tackle with a player coming straight at him was reckless to say the least and certainly dangerous (intended or not).
Hopefully, as you seem to be certain of, Tony Scully will be fit for Sunday. Was Towns game cancelled yesterday for any particular reason?

I was at the game myself and Peake were awful!! They seemed to have no ideas and couldn't keep control of the ball. Having said that, they nearly nicked it at the end. Bansha battled well all game and probably deserved a point!

saints play peake this coming sunday,a draw or a peake defeat and town are champions again, villa are in a rut they havent won a game in weeks, its the business end of the season so to be honest didnt expect anything more, also i refer back to my earlier post that scully would be fine for the sheriff game,it was all much ado about nothing

It was a dreadful tackle but I would not say that Paul Breen is a dirty player, tough yes but not dirty. I just hope that he had the decency to apologise to Tony. However, lets move on

Think you are being very harsh there. To say that Saints and Villa are "so poor" is bull ****. as far as I know, Villa have lost only to town(fai semi-finalists) and drawn away to Saints(with 10 men), Rock Rovers and Bansha. I suppose in your opinion a team isn't worthy of winning the league unless they win all matches like town did a few seasons back.
From what you are saying above their only strong spot is central midfield?Players of the likes of Leahy, fogarty, O'Connor, and Barry and Michael Ryan would be welcome in most sides, not to mention Aaron ryan.Just because a team is going through a bit of a rut does not automatically mean they are a bad side...it appears that some people just love to see Villa fail

Saints won even with 2 youths starting and 4 first team regulars missing. Peake are poor and I think yesterday showed they have no bottle. They will capitualte in Clonmel when they play town.

what has bottle got to do with it?They just didn't play well.Michaels got a free kick after the player fouled had clearly handled the ball and scored from it, and Villa had a stonewall penalty turned down after O'Connor was rugby tackled in the box. Ok they were poor, but in no way deserved to lose.
