Was just wondering about this. I presume not, but I guess its a bit of a catch 22 situation.
Like this is my first season of going to Eircom League matches since 2004, but I plan on going to all Eircom League clubs in European matches.
I hate St.Pat's though so I'm not going to watch them.

Yes I do.. They are representing the league after all. Plus you have to think of the co-efficient!
I might even go along to Dalymount to see Drogheda during the week.:o

I want them to do well, until they are successful :D
Yes, but saying that I want us to be the first to reach the group stages :)

Yes...........I even wanted Shels to do well a few years ago.
When we went on our Uefa journey two years ago we had fans from at least 50% of all EL clubs supporting us in Scotland and Paris. They were all made to feel very welcome and joined in with the 3,000 plus Derry fans who made the journey.

Pretty much the same except wouldn't go watching Shamrock Rovers

Of course. Clubs playing in Europe are representing our league. When our league gets to the stage where we have so much recognition and credibility that we can afford not to do well in Europe we can curse a rival club's progress but at the moment it benefits the league as a whole for clubs to do well in Europe.

Yes, unless I strongly dislike quite a few of their players and staff.

I like to see all EL teams doing well in Europe except Rovers.
Mostly, bar Bohs, Rovers and Shels. Wouldn't like to see someone get too far though

I would follow others and have been to european games involving longford, bohs, drogheda, derry, shels and ourselves. The only way our league will achieve recognition is through europe so many people in ireland have champions league tinted spectacles, for example even though i dont support bohs people have already been on to me saying the league is a joke because we cant beat teams from latvia. I know we're a small country but with the young talent we have in ireland we should have at least one club who could possibly make it a la shels. Just look at scotland

How did Shels make it? One win and advanced past two rounds! Its been done before

Would support any team bar teams we would be rivals with. But nobody gives a toss about UCD, hence no rivals and therefore I support any team in European competition.

i meant it in the sense make a good go of it and achieve some good press for the league for once....
Am a lot more ambivalent about this that I used to be. At one time I hoped for progression for every club for the good of the league, but as time goes on I become more cynical as to whether the results our teams are ever likely to achieve will really make any impact on the general public. With an increasing gap between rich and poor in the league and increased rewards for participation it's coming to the stage were I'm not so bothered whether Irish clubs do well. If they win happy days, if they lose laugh at them- everyone's a winner!

Always (passively) support them myself. I'd probably even wish Shamrock Rovers well in Europe as long as they didn't go too far (although I couldn't watch them play.)

I always shout for Irish clubs in Europe. Went to La Coruna with Shels a few years back with an other United fan. Ended up sittin beside ex Rovers player Eoin Mullen on the plane. Sound lad, had a few beers with him down on the beach outside Deportivo's ground. There were fans of most clubs there to shout for Shels, I suppose a Champions League breakthrough by any League club would give the league the respect it deserves.

Yep i like to see them do well, as the rest have said it's good for the league but i was :D when bohs got knocked out but still happy they got the win on the night last week
Nope. My feelings towards clubs in Europe range from actively hoping they fail to not really caring if they succeed

You know they can revoke your Rovers membership for saying you were happy to see Bohs win under any circumstances
I'd support all the League of Ireland sides in Europe. Wexford Youths are a recent addition to the landscape, long before they existed I still wanted to see the League of Ireland sides progress in Europe. I might even head to Dalymount on Wednesday to check out the Drogs game.

Irish league sides!!! I laugh when they get hammered.
Another reason I want sides to do well this season is it just might give us a chance to gain a few points on them.
Yep, always like to see Irish sides do well. The only exception was when Shels lost to the Maltesers a few years ago. Oh, how I laughed (for obvious reasons:D)

I support all Irish clubs, north and south in Europe. I hope they all can get as far as they can.
The worst result i remember was the 10:0 result a few years back. That was such an embrassing scoreline for this league. I can remember thinking that things couldn't possibly get any worse after that. Hopefully that was a turning point and we'll never have to ensure that kinda stuff ever again.

10-0? Are you sure? who were the teams? I honestly can't remember this or i can't remember any LOI team playing a big European team such as Milan or Madrid and getting hammered but maybe i am forgetting !:o

Dont know if you are asking a genuine question, or just wumming, but St. Pats were beaten 5-0 in both legs of a game against Zimbru Chisinau (or something like that) from Moldova in the 99/2000 season (or maybe 1 year earlier or later)

Yes always. Rarely miss a game within easy reach of Dublin (includes Derry's last 2 as well) while I'd rarely make a premier division match these days.
Our clubs did take some hammerings - Derby edged out Haprs 16-1 on aggregate (and that was an og) incl 12-0 in Derby. Liverpool put 10 past Dundalk. i think Tottenham put 14 past Drogheda over 2 legs.
We had some decent results too though such as Shels putting out Belenenses, Dundalk knocking out DOS Utrecht.
However recent years have been our most consistent. We need to at least consolidate where we are. Ideally it would be great if all 3 clubs progressed beyond the first round. However hopefully at least 2 will progress.

Pats were beaten 10-0 by a team from Moldova  that is shocking (was not in Ireland if it was that season) That must go down as the worst league of Ireland result ever? Even Harps getting tanked (which i knew about) is better than this at least Derby came from a proper league.

Yep it was us alright. Summer of '99. Was at the home leg, which was first, and it was depressing stuff. Apparently there was a LOT of infighting in the team at the time and a few of them even came to blows either on the way over to the game or on the way back.
Ah well :o

I applaud you for your progressive thinking. Why on earth would you begrudge a team that plays in a different division enjoying some European success? That just doesn't make any sense to me.

I would support us of course, and hope the other 20 clubs do well, and go as far as possible if/when in Europe.
That just leaves one club out. You don't need to be an Einstein to work out who.

I don't exactly support some teams but I'd rather see them win. Wouldn't want them to progress too far though, certainly not to the group stages of the CL....

I'd say Longford getting hammered in wals would up there
Zimbru were the best team we've ever polayed, and went on to progress past 2 more rounds and were eventually knocked out by Tottenham in the UEfa cup
Not saying the result wasn't a diisgrace though
