29, still a fine player IMO, and I dont think Conny would be to impressed if he lost him (especially to Fairview).

Think Pike would not mind if he went, one less wage to pay out

i would agree with you abbeyvale that he is skilful and has good touches but imo he is lazy and has that whole couldnt be bothered attitude about him alot of the time.i dont think he is a team player and wouldnt want to count on him in a match that was a battle.give me hartnett , or o grady any day ahead of him.

if he did sign wit fairview he wouldnt be a great loss, he didnt exactly play very well with pike, alot of the time he looked as if he didnt even want to be playin with them,
no he dindnt play well but still would be a loss along with morris considering were going to keep moloney who will prob leave after 4/5 games and go to who ever looks like winning he league that is if were not top by then

Meeting was held last night.....and to cut a long story short, there is no manager appointed as of yet, and Pa Boland & Windy Hogan will take charge of the training (which starts next Tuesday) until the club appoint a full time manager...

Well atleast that might give them some stability for a few weeks....
It'd be a shame if the side started to fall away.... theyve a few nice players there...

The club have approached a few people to take over, with no joy.
They are now back at sqaure one in relation to naming a manager.
Pat Boland and Windy Hogan will take the training for now,.
Windy was interested but cannot fully commit due to work commitments.
Pat Boland is considering taking a break from football.

have to agree with you there halo i watched pike in nearly every match this year and i cant recall one match he played well in and every time he gave the ball away or something didnt go his way he tried to blame one of the other players, hes not a great loss imo based on the way he has played all year

well we will see once both teams start training id say.you can bet theres a good chance he will sign for one of them anyway considering they are the 2 teams he has played with over the last few years. oscar and straight up need to calm down before one of them has a heart attack!:D

imo he will be gone(who knows where) i reckon conny being conny has afew lined up to replace him anyway. even if he stays striker i can see him warming the bench alot more which i cant see him doing for long. i wudnt be surprised to hear him going back to newtown

thats a bit unfair, he really stood up to the plate when Keith Hartnett was injured towards the end of the season and didnt let anyone at pike down.

exactly my point bud, theres no doubting the man has ability but imo he plays when it suits him e.g was happy to let hartnett do it all for him earlier in the season.in fairness how many real big games did pike have at the end of the season?balla in the lawson id say?wudnt exactly count wembley to be a big game.

pike had 5 cup finals to win towards end of season to win league as any slip up and balla would have won it,there is no doubting daves ability but he did take time to settle and hopefully next year he will be better for having a year under his belt

on the grand scheme of things there isnt much to seperate them, on all the topics stated by pearse4t3 you couldnt really say that one is much better then the other, and you'd obviously put fairview in there as well.

problem balla have is their facilities, and in all fairness that lets them down big time, and thats not knockin balla as a club

1. on the facilities side of things id say boro are better over the larger dressing rooms, pikes dressing rooms very small imo,

2.pitch wise id say they are equal.

3.underage?to my recollection are they both only rebuilding there schoolboy sections at the moment?

4.imo pike pip it on the trophy front.they seem to win something every year, boro tend to do it every 2 or 3 years.

5.both clubs look in good financial nick to me but the commitees only know the real truth there i take it?

6.id have fairview on the same level as pike and boro for facilities, pitch, financial but imo they are streets ahead in the trophy and underage set ups even though they havent won much the last few years.

Halo16....
1. agree
2. Pike's better in the wet Boro's better when normal weather prevails, i know very seldom these days
3. agree
4. agree
5. no idea about pike's but would imagine very solid.
6. i think that the fairview model is the one that all clubs should be aiming for..

pikeys pitch one of the best in munster never mind town am i right in saying that they have drainage in both fields and boro and the view dont?

leather
10/07/2008, 1:15 PM
i think that Pike is a sand based pitch,Fairview's is a sand/soil based pitch. pike was ahead of its time but does suffer in dry weather. View is a more modern build and takes a huge amount of matches..both of the Boro's pitches are soil based. the main field has a pipe draingae system with a secondary sand slit sytem which was installed last season. the 2 nd field has piped drainge only. both suffer in very heavy rain but as a rule are playable, get very heavy..boro's pitch were constructed in the early 70's when the soil, pipe drainage was the latest tech...a lot of work ongoing to improve both pitches through aeration and topdressing yearly..

the financial situation
are the top clubs soley relying on the bar to make money for the clubs?

leather does john ryan still do the groundkeepin down the boro, did fantastic work with the pitch, cuttin the grass, lining the pitch etc.. and all on his own time. good clubman all round

the crowd in the golf club took over maintaining Pikes pitchs last season and there has been a huge improvement in the surface. You mightn't have noticed it but it had become quite bumpy in parts before this.
