Don't forget Flynny and George... sure we should get rid of them too. And bring back Derek, Deccie, Hartigan and Kieran Nagle?

I said it before and ill say it again,
Where are you from and was the labotomy painful??
Well Dolan wants him back.
He just said on the BRB that he has to talk to him to see if there is a way he can come back.
Possible loan move from Bohs....and Derek to cop himself on and get over his bitterness, giving him the chance to play again ??????

i'm happy to give Dolan the benefit of the doubt and if it goes through to give Derek a cheer if he returns, but surely a CB should not be our focus.

Will Dan be changing position then????

I hope not. I honestly don't think Derek is good enough to get into our current side. Both Dan and Benno are much better centre backs than him, and on top of that they're both playing well. Like i said, if we have him it's a bonus because someone else doesn't, but he isn't any better than what we have.

just popped into my head, but with hoggy's ability to get forward and woods at left back, is there any chance Dolan would look at a 3-5-2 line up.
don't think it'd be great myself but thought i'd throw it out there.

3-5-2 is a load of crap!
We tried it for a couple of weeks after the Special Olympics break and none off the players knew what was going on. Went back to 4-4-2 for the Derry match and won 4-0. We're playing so much better since went back.

I disagree with Eanna and i'd replace Beno with Coughlan. Beno cost us against Shels & waterford. Also i think beno gave away the free which led to the Derry goal on Friday??
Yea it was his fault the free took a lucky deflection wasn't it???
I think 4-5-1 is the best by far!!!!;) ;)

1st.... thing in your team 4 out of 5 of your defenders are very slow
(coughlan,bennet,murray,hoggie.)
2nd.... thing greg is out for another 3 weks at least and eve when he dose come back wouldn`t be 100% so i`d leave him out for the rest of the season
3rdly.... bringing back derek is a mistake, big lad good header of the ball but his lack of pace will give away silly free kicks around the area (mark my words) and will also unsettle an already nervous defence. so if i was pat i`d do what hes been doing all season and try and stay with the same defence let them molde together and see can they improve upon the last few mistakes other wise city will keep slippin down the table (again mark my words)

Are ye serious about Bennet? He was at fault for the goals against Waaaterford,$hels and Derry.Bring Derek back and Dan would be more comfortable not having to worry about bennet all the time.

why was he at fault for the goal against Derry???
how exactly did you come to that conclusion???
The ball deflected off the wall, wrongfooted Devine and lobbed into the net. Pure fluke.....
He was partially at fault for one of the goals against waterford the other was a ridiculous penalty decision.
He was at fault for the second against Shels..a game where the majority of the players were poor....
In general Bennet has had a very good season at CB. Christ some people here have a 3 game memory????

Against Derry-a stupid lunge just outside the area.Free kick,Goal!
Against Waterford-a simple clearance would have been a lot better.
Against $hels-a brain would have helped!
You say three games, thats 6 points and the next round of the cup.Thats also three games in a row!!!
tiktok

christ, there's eleven players on the pitch (plus substitutes that come on) a management and coaching staff to get tactics right and players ready to go, along with loads of variables (how well the opposition do, officials etc.)
you can't blame the results on any three consecutive games on a single player.
by your logic, if flynny had knocked in the easy chance -v- derry then bennett's tackle wouldn't have mattered, so let's lynch john instead.

agreed 100% As for the Benno bashers, 3 games out of how many is that?

It's a handy enough team but I would go with Carey before Horgan at right back or else have Horgan left, Carey right and Woods on the left side of midfield

Remember when Gunther had us playing 3-5-2, Carey played his best football for Cork City at that time.

Hoggy at R.B. and Billy on the other side is working out great so why change, getting back to the original subject(if anybody remembers??) I would be glad to see D.C. back as we have lost 3 C.B.s in the last 2 months and Deccie will probably(hopefully)retire at the end of this season,we're a bit light in defensive cover and you wont get many better replacements than Derek.

you think he wants to leave a team he cant get into to join another team he wont get into.. wake up if he dose come(hopefully not)then he`ll be looking for games not to sit on the bench. if he dose return then it will be a bad move for him and city.

I don't think city need to be signing part-time footballers anymore.
Yeah. I don't think Dolan is interested in signing part-time players.

i understand what you're saying about part time players guys, but are city really at a stage where we can afford an entire full time squad?
Is a very good question if you ask me!
Cityace

Dolan does want full-timers but i'd say he will take experience over that if coughlan's only going to be a back up for the first team.
talk is cheap
but i'd love to see derek signup ASAP
and i've a feeling its gona be sooner rather then later we see the derek back where he belongs in a cork city jersey
I would like to see derek back himself and dan.
It has gone all quiet about him though. Makes you wonder if anything is happening.

He signs today according to Conor George in De Echo !
Took a bit of time to get Bohs to agree, it seems.

Derek's back, back again..etc....
from citynet....Derek C. is expected to sign today...
Welcome back Big Man!
Will have to wait to see if a good move yet...
Saying that Derek is best header of a ball in the league & could be handy for aerial bombardment games...
Bad signing.
Waste of money.
Waste of a squad number.
Waste of time.
Waste of skin.
Terrible signing, that is the worst signing City could have made.

Great addition to the squad.
I hope Benno and Murray's partnership at the back isint interupted though. Derek needs to bide his time and maybe be used as a substitute if we're looking for a goal in the last 10 minutes in a game.
It's good to have the best Cork footballers involved with Cork City, and Derek is one of them.
I suppose he'll get the NUMBER 5 shirt that Napier left behind?

that might be just the tiniest bit melodramatic.
I'd imagine it's a part time contract, i read on another post that he has his job at the airport back and is working there. I think he's probably been brought in as cover, although i wouldn't be surprised to see Bennett shoved into midfield.
I'm happy to see the big man back at the cross anyway.
From the Irish Times Breaking News site:
Coughlan returns to Cork from Bohemians
Last updated: 14-08-03, 17:53
Cathal Coughlan has re-signed for Cork City from Bohemians.
The 26-year-old previously spent six years playing for the Leesiders. He is the holder of a championship medal with Bohs.

Though a little blast of Loftholdingswood would certainly liven up a few games !!!;)

I wouldn't go that far!
I think he is a good addition to the squad, however, under no circumstances would I break up the Murray-Benno partnership to accomadate him.
He'll be handy to get the odd goal and he could be very useful tomorrow night, bring him on for the last 15 minutes to kick the sh!t out of Reynolds!:)
