seriously, what's the story with them? They're disgraceful. By all accounts sligo rovers were robbed by anthony "*****" buttimer today. Every week its a different ref making terrible mistake, that you wouldn't even see at underage games. And it goes both ways. Do they actually get paid? That would make even worse. I this league wants to become professional the standard of refereeing must improve. And I know a few refs were suspended recently but more must be done to change things for the better!

How can you pass judgement on something you haven't seen?

no i'm actually serious like,it goes both ways,I'll be the first person to admit when the ref makes a bad decision that costs the other team. Against cork we should have had a penalty but the guy got sent off, then they had a goal wrongfully disallowed. You could say it evened out but its still not right. Against pats the ref gave them everyhthing, then a few minutes to go,ndo is clean through but the ref gave tham a free kick instead. If he had waited 1 extra second he could have played the advantage that he is supposed to and ndo probably would have scored. Then against bohs they had a goal dissallowed that shouldn;t have been. We had a CLEAR goal dissallowed, they go up the pitch and score the winning goal. We went from 3 points to no points all because of the ref. The list goes on and on,every game is the same! The referees are changing results, its not fair. We probably would have won that game tonight if it wasn't for buttimer. No we are out of the cup and miss out what could have been a cup run that would have provided us with much needed cash. Its a disgrace and so frustrating. Rant over!(for now)

Because I will accept 3 of my close friend's judgement and also that of alan cawley and keith o'dwyer,2 honest fellas, who were commentating on the game.

I still can't understand how you can pass judgement on something you didn't see yourself.

It was never a booking all I can think of is the lad said something. For the first goal it was never a free in either the ref asked the linesman was it a free he said no and then the ref still gave it.

We lost that game because Pat Jennings was in goals rather than Richard Brush. No more, no less.

The ref at tonight's game was pretty card-happy, but other than that his performance was decent.

Read hoops1's post! I was listening to it on the radio, therefore I have to believe them.If the commentator says sligo rovers score a goal,I believe him,if they say the ref makes a terrible decision,I believe them. Anyway my rant is about ref's in the league in general. We have all seen it throughout the season.

As have I. No need to bitch about it though.

We were Robbed. Buttimer cost us the game blah blah

No. Cook cost us the game by putting that excuse of a keeper in goals.
We would have had a far better chance with Brush sweeping everything up that came in rather than Jennings flapping and hesitating.

Ok i never said "we were robbed, buttimer cost us blah blah". Making up quotes now are we?! Anyway your going off topic completely by once again arguing about stupid crap(when you're wrong),the thread is about refs in this league in general.

Do the refs in this league get paid does anyone know? Or is it just expenses?

You turned it to crap in the first place by bitching about a refereeing performance an hour after your team goes out of the cup.

But what I'm trying to talk about is referees performances throughout the season, thats what most of my posts have been about. Mr buttimer tipped me over the edge, but I have already talked about OTHER games that the refs have made terrible decisions for AND against my team.

The only thing is, that they're often brutal for both sides!:o

So in order to start a thread,I have to be at a game. Thats a bit unfair! So when people used to listen to games on the radio 60 years ago, they weren't allowed to talk about the game cos they weren't at the game?! Foolish boy.

Brush typically is a keeper who has performed well for Rovers.
Jennings typically is a keeper who has performed badly for Rovers.

Jennings did make many mistakes which are factual and not matters of opinion. These were reported by Keith.

Passing a ball straight to an attacker is an obvious factual mistake.
A poor refereeing decision is a matter of opinion.
