Is there a link that shows the ground capacities and record attendances for each eircom League club? If not, perhaps local experts could list the details from their club here please.

The current capacity of Oriel Park is 6,000. The record attendance is 21,000. This was set in 1979 in a European Cup 2nd Round tie against Celtic.

UCD and Sporting Fingal are both at new grounds this season so their record attendances will be fairly recent, whilst Athlone's record would probably have been their first match at the new stadium last year.

UCD Bowl has capacity of 3,000. Record attendence is 1,005 against Bohs, obviously this season.

Belfield Park's record attendence was somewhere between 4,000 and 5,000 against Derry sometime in the 80s. Can't remember the exact details.

This link (http://www.ifgrounds.com/home.html) has the grounds with estimates of capacities, though it's a little out of date and I don't know how accurate the capacities are.

Dalymount -
Capacity :
Seated 4250
Terraced 7750

Is that not off?
The Jodi has 2,700 seats, the Des Kelly at least 700, and the Connaght Street 2000ish?

Also 7,750 is very accurate for standing... Were these figures derived off the top of their webmasters head I wonder?

Here. There's no Capacities Thread though. ;)

Think Belfield Park's record is usually put as 3500.

Are the figures not related to what the H&S clearance is given as?

Is this terracing for the Tramway/Shopping Centre end. Maybe out of use is a better discription.
Capacity of Terracing was always calculated, the totals used to get reduced every few years until big blocks of terrace were no longer used or replaced with seating. There was always a figure for each stand.

At the recent League cup game against Dundalk I saw about a dozen Bohs fans on some steps beside the Burdocks shop. In a tangent out from the corner flag before the Des Kelly entrance. That corner was near capacity.

I think turners cross is a seating capacity of 6,800. The highest attendance was 12.000 against Dundalk on the last game of the season in a title decider in 92.

There was close to that a couple of years ago at the cork derry game on the last day of the season

BTW, the figures quoted above by Buller & Harpo for Dalymount are out of date - they relate to when only the Jodi & School ends were seated & Connaght St side was terrace
I think now the figures are approx: Jodi 3-3200, School 1-1200, Connaght 3,600ish

There were just under 7000 at GUFC v. Cork City in the first game under lights in the in October 1993. United won 2-1 to go top of the Premier Division

Last Monday, not even 800 went to see GUFC v. Cobh at the other end of the Premier Division in Terryland.

Now Passinginterest, you are either quoting me from a previous post or you are equally bored. On one particular day while young Oldyouth was using the all weather pitches with his mates, I took a wander around the ground and, I'm ashamed to admit, I counted the seats and 609 is spot on.

Technically, it could be 608 'cos one is slightly broken

The Showgrounds was also a sell-out for the Longford v City Shield Final 2nd leg in 1986, so I assumes that would be an equal top-crowd for the ground

About 13,000 Derry V Notts Forest 87'?

It wasn't that high (think the game was Summer 1986 as well).

From memory,. the capaciity of the Brandywell in the mid-to-late 80-'s was less than 11,000. Then once the library got built it went down to under 10,000 I believe.

It's currently somewhere between 8-9,000 I think.

The Cobh semi final saga brought big crowds to the Showgrounds in 1983. Some footage from the final replay here http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=tu-tGLhjM3I.

The biggest crowd ever witnessed in the Showgrounds was probably the League cliniching win against Shams in 1977.

The new capacity of the RSC is circa 3100 all seated, with the inclusion of the new stand which holds approx 1760. No standing is permitted now afaik.

The record attendance at the RSC was 8,500 at the FAI Cup semi-final against Shelbourne in April 1997. In Kilcohan in the 60s & 70s it wasnt unusual to have crowds in excess of 10,000. Although for the Man U & Celtic games in 1968 & 70 upwards of 50,000+ crammed into Lansdowne.
