Pats seem to be close to signing John Murphy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Murphy_%28footballer%29) from Chester City.

Rumours are we've agreed a fee. Just waiting on personal terms to be met now.

Rumours are that Sporting have signed Frost and Haverty from Pats with Ferguson from Rovers in tow. We just can't go up now. Can't compete with that.

With a left-back, a slightly better than average centre-half and a promising kid who'll get eaten alive in the First Division? I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Throw in Stephen Rice and Brendan Clarke to the Fingal list.

Very strong squad there now

Ferguson's an excellent signing for Fingal. Not many defenders as good as him in the First Division. Is it a loan or a permanent deal?

http://www.independent.ie/sport/soccer/eircom-league/ndo-rovers-loan-move-collapses-1443690.html

Striker John Murphy completed a medical with St Patrick's Athletic last night, however, Joseph Ndo's loan move from Inchicore collapsed, WRITE DANIEL McDONNELL AND NEIL AHERN.

Shamrock Rovers had looked certain to capture the Cameroon midfielder until the end of the season, however, the move fell through at the eleventh hour last night although there are hopes that the deal may be resurrected ahead of tonight's deadline.

Three players did leave Inchicore yesterday as Sporting Fingal snapped up Brendan Clarke, Noel Haverty and John Frost on loan for the rest of this campaign. Rumours surfaced yesterday that Gary O'Neill could also be on his way out of Inchicore to join Bohemians, but while he has rejected the offer of a new contract with the Saints, they will not let him go anywhere until the end of the year.

Rovers have sent Dessie Baker on loan to Dundalk, while boss Pat Scully has refused to let Stephen Rice join Fingal on loan.

The transfer window closes at midnight tonight with Bohemians set to sign Brendan McGill while defender Regi Nooitmeer is likely to link up with Drogheda after his release from Galway. Tribesmen boss Jeff Kenna is hoping to bring in two players -- one of whom is a Danish striker.

Just on loan. He's a class above the First Division.

No Rice for us anyway. That would of made it the perfect set of signings but i'm happy enough with what we seem to have gotten.

No doubt about that in my opinion. Was it that Scully wouldn't let him go to a Premier club or was Fingal his best offer?.

I did hear something about him going to NUI Galway alright, wouldn't be very surprising to see him back with Galway United.

He's starting a Masters course in NUIG which is costing him a fair bit to do. He cant commit to training with Longford however many nights a week as the course will take up a lot of time.

Fingal county (sic) council

Gerry Gannon of Gannon Homes is ploughing a large amount of money into them. A cynic would suggest that he's merely buttering up the County Council for future developments.

Fingal county (sic) council

So the county council is paying towards wages? Surly that's illegal. If Sporting get promoted in front of a real club like Shelbourne, Waterford or Dundalk it will be a travesty. The whole thing stinks and is worse than Dublin City in my opinion

I don't think it's illegal but it has to be ethically immoral.
How many people in fingal live above the bread line and are scrimping to make ends meet? and their own cc are wasting money on footballers wages.

Is there not regulations set in place in relation to the amount of funds that a director can put in to a club

The majority of clubs in the first are trying to do the best they can by trying to stay within their means and they really are taking the ****

Fingal County Council are not paying any wages or bail out money should it come to that. Enough of that talk.

Ridiculous argument re those living in bread line. Every county council has a budget for art, sports etc and these are very important things socially. The money being spent on the football team would probably have been spent on a GAA pitch or something rather than anything more nobel.

And there's no limits on what anyone can put into a club. Nor should there be. (and belive me I ain't no fan of Fingal "county" council)

they're not - the initiative is part of their strategy for developing sport in the comunity.

A 5 Year Business Plan was developed for the Club by KPMG and this is founded on a minimum cash injection, through direct funding and high level sponsorship of €800,000for each of the next five years. This is completely separate from all other potential revenue generating activities and income opportunities for the Club. None of this funding is contributed by Fingal County Council.

Point taken for my weak argument.
While donations to clubs are very welcome and should be encourage donations of this scale seriously can't be looked at in a good light. Far too much money being pumped into a club that only averages 300 max a game. Thats immoral and shouldn't be allowed. It creates an inequity in the league as a whole and the best supported clubs are the ones that suffer. Gate receipts should determine expenditure on players wages not donations from sugar daddy's because he may want a favour of the local CC down the line

Well thats fair enough so.
So are the club getting the €800,000 outlined in their business plan?
That's serious money coming in. So that's €520,000 p/yr (10,000 p/wk) available for players wages from that sponsorship alone. That Doesn't include any additional revenue streams. Although i can't see too many extra available.
Where is this 800,000 coming from?
What is Fingal coco's role in the whole thing?

Well seeing as they aren't paying wages it doesnt matter but i'm sure i read somewhere about governments being involved with football clubs was forbidden. I know its local government in this case but still.
If its just the case that they are supplying a stadium for them to play in but would still be owned by Fingal coco then not much we can complain about that.

Fingal seem to be spending a lot of money wages wise on big time players.

Is it a case their spending more money than they have or are they really backed that well finance wise?

I'm dissappinted to see them signing so many Premier Division standard players. I don't like to see teams buying trophies.

Most trophies are bought though. In the sense that the biggest spenders will always be the most successful.

We won the league last year and didn't pay a penny for any of our players.

To win the 1st Division you need to have a commited team who will always give 110% because none of the teams there have money, which ultimately means it can't be bought!...........Fingal will see that soon enough when the ego's start to get in the way!

The Premier Division is where the money is where you have no option but to try and buy the league. Problem is.............so's everyone else!
