"And i agree that he would get into any of the top 4 teams....."
I wouldnt be too sure about that. Pa was offered to play with Boro, among others numerous times.
Fine player

If he's that good then why are star at the bottom of the league!
(here come the excuses again)
How can you expect one player to keep a team up!!!!! Your talking trype again.

my only quim is we all know pat barry is a class player, and would command a place in any prem team in town. why oh why is this guy never in the oscar trainer team..........?????????????

Pat Sheehan should send a form to each premier team, one for each player to fill out a team of the season. That would be better than them guessing or going by match reports.

I remember a few years ago Pat Sheehan did a fantasy football type of thing with the premier league. It was class must have taken alot of work though.

Yes i remember that myself..Twas pretty gooD..Gave how many games a player played and how many goals and cards etc!!Twas excellent..I'd say there is a lot of work in it though!!

What about a players player of the season award? Similar to that in the prem! That would be a good idea I think? may even boost interest in the game. People will always try harder to impress when there's praise involved!

You're a walking mountain of trype, the bull you sprout on this site about star, who cares about star anyway!
look the bottom line is Pa is a very good player but wether he'd get a game with balla or pike is another thing, the only way for him to find out is for him to go to one of the big clubs and see how he gets on.

and does he take the easy option each year signing with star knowing that all he has to do is turn up to play?

For those of you who have genuinely seen Pa play, do ye think he's good enough to play for Balla.Pike etc?
I have no doubt that he is good enough. If the interest was there, that is.

i have seen him play and he has been excellent on some occasions,on other occasions he may as well be still asleep, would he walk onto the top 4 teams?i have no doubt he'd get a game but if carried on like he does with star he wouldn't last long

Well maybe thats all he wants to do at the end of the day...Turn up on a sunday morning and play a game and not worry about not getting picked..Maybe thats what he wants ..A game of ball every week..I mean no one wants to sit on the sideline every week(and i am not saying he would be if he went to pike or balla) but its his own choice and if he choose to play with star then so be it!!!

lets start with the keeper for the team of the season i think it comes down to 3 Hickey,Gilmartin or Stewart for me they have stood out head and shoulders above the rest now im leaving it up to ye to pick 1 from the 3..................

I beg to differ. Dave McNamara pulled off a string of fine performances, namely his Penalty saves against Fairview this year. Any time I've seen Hickey his kicking for a keeper is far below par, especially when put under pressure..

Alan Morton has to be a shoe in for centre half,a commanding figure at the back who can do the business at the other end too,HIS goal against Summerville at the weekend testament to this, alas the premier will be a lesser place without you my friend

and how do you maintain that???
I never said he wasn't a good player, whats at question is wether he's good enough for pike or balla. which in my opion you can't say that he is until he go's to a top team and see's how he gets on (if gets on at all), if only for 1 season and he can then go back to star.

My opinion is that he is, and Ive played on the same team as him now for 4 season's, and your opinion is that he isn't, so lets just leave it at that, shall we.

are we talking bout a keeper that going to be doing nothing much with very good defence's infront of them or one's that have to actually earn there salt. trust me any of the above keepers would earn it behind stars defence. as has rob

so now your his buddy, and to call your friend a drunk!!!!!

Who made you king of the junior realm? Your anti Pike attitude is lovely, fact is the guy deserves to be in the top 3 for the season.Easily.
If Hickey gets it,its a Joke, guys struggles with Kickouts,Gordon can't for the fact Carew went on a 5/6 game loosing streak there with one score worse than the other..If it as it should go on consistency, then Smackers is in there.

If theres any justice in football he will be selected the best right full in limerick this season

What about Trevor Cozz for the view at right full? Surely in the top three?

if you read the whole post you'd realise that i was saying he is a good player and I was merely putting the question out there.Premier isn't the b all and end all of junior football and seeing as he probably won't be playing it next year if he stays with star i'd say it will be great loyalty to the club and fair play to him.
as i stated previously i play where i want and it isn't an easy option, there are a lot of good players on our team and everyone has to train hard to get a place,i doubt that could be said at this stage for star

wouldn't agree with you there saying he's fields ahead of anyone,Dunphy is a better player IMO,Ahern can go missing against the bigger teams

ahern is a very good attacking fullback, but defensively quite poor and agree that when it comes to big games he does not produce.

smackers has cost us big games this year and if you assess what players we need next year a goalkeeper is high on the agenda,he was caught from 40 yards in mjc v balla,up in redcastle he was too slow off his line for first goal, and against carew the ball bounced over his head from a cross nearly 60 yads out.yes he saved a couple of pens and has generally played well but he is just not consistent enough to be considered a top 3 keeper

Dave Dunphy has been the best right full in the Prem this season by far, and has also chipped in with some vital goals, not to mention reaching the final of the MJC, 2nd in the league, and still in latter stages of both local cups.
He gets my vote.

At last, an honest assesment from a Pike fan.
I agree with you, Smackers is a good keeper but Pike should really be trying to sign a class keeper if they want to push for an FAI.

Go away carey nd stop now please, you played with two teams this year nd both were relegated thats gotta be a record or a very clear wake up call!!!!!
ha it actually must be. abbey at the start of the season and now star if they go down. i played alot for abbey, but with star i am only a bench warmer or a sub keeper. ........ ya i can deal with that. i not looking to protray myself as pele. but again can you say different you seem well able to give it out but since your still hiding i'd say your affraid to take it. now thats all cleared up can we go back to team of the season players, i picked mine on who i saw and i saw alot from stars bench this year and it only my opinion:D

Trevor Higgins from Fairview is a fine player.Danny Hanley from the 'boro' is a far better player than Mark Sheehan.Pat McGarry in my opinion is the best left full in town when played there! Not sure has he played there this season but just going on when i've seen Pike playing in the past.

From what ive seen hes a good player but the storys from the boro is he'd be out for a week after a hair cut, cant stand that carry on, i know a few fellas that strained made up muscles they should be named nd shamed
what stories would that be ??
Ado is a top player but due to injuries and his work commitments he has been unable to play as often as last season...he is probably more ****ed with not playing than anybody else... IMO he is one of the best central midfielders that has played with the club in a long time..& I would hope that he will continue to play with the club for many years to come...

I think myself personally it has to be james odonnell..Oscar traynor last year and hasn't put a foot wrong this year(well besides his og last week but that can happen to anyone)...Great box of a ball, great running with the ball, players barely or never get passed him and when they do he is back on them like a bullet...I'll have to go with Jamesy!!
