View Full Version : MNS - 5th May
It'll be interesting to see who's presenting it during the Olympics as I'm pretty sure Tony O'Donohoe and Con Murphy will be off to Beijing
Whoever draws the short straw & has to stay home to do the voice overs on volley ball. Maybe Podge.

Actually you could be on to something there. for the duration of the Olympics they should have celebrity/novelty presenters and do the show in a kind of "Fantasy Football" vein. that'd be cool me thinks

I actually meant Marty Morrissey, just couldn't remember his name at the time I was posting. ;)
Don't RTE have bog ball games on Monday evenings during the summer? Will MNS keep its time slot?
Will be interesting to see if bump in tv audience with The Premiership on beforehand even though usually fairly low ratings for RTEs English football program..

No. Saturday and Sunday, then The Sunday Game at half 9 on Sunday night.

A penalty should never be in any goal of the month competition imo.
never??
the fact was that the penalty was under high pressure, the individual nvolved perhaps came into it and it was a complete class finish. pardon them for being different and thowing it in.i for one was happy to see it again.
you'd probably argue his other goal shouldn't be included either:
"no goal where a keeper got a finger tip to it should be in a GOTM competition':o

RTE have chosen Penalty kicks in the past for consideration of best goal. I remember Jimmy Magee presenting some "top ten goals" or "goals of the World Cup" sometime in the 1980's and Horst Hrubesch's penalty in the 1982 Semi-Final shoot-out versus France was included.

(after 4:00 minutes, also linked on Youtube two blokes have re-inacted the shoot-out perhaps incl. exact movements from the players)
I had questions back then too.

After the game at the showgrounds did Mauro Almeida actually say
"Best. Game. Ever."
He said ' Since i be here best game ever '

Jesus, have games been that bad at Sligo?

The U-16 thing was a joke. Fine interview Big Nose and Big Waist but at least make some attempt to relate it back to the league! One of them mentioned Dessie Byrne and we get a half second flash of him in a Pats jersey. And Foy was mentioned loads without any comment about who he plays for now. We all know were those two play now but the regular non loi Joe doesn't. How fecking difficult is it to interview Foy and Byrne??
As for 60, they need to start leaving the Pale a bit. Surely they can send a local camera man to record the players answers and splice in Jacqui Hurleys questions after if its costing too much to have her running around the country?
As Con has said a few times now MNS is not just about the league.

And rightly so too. Snippets like the U-16 victory and the Ireland XI have been very interesting.

Very true but interviews with Foyzer and Des Byrne as well as an interview with a player who's gone out of the game since seem like a fecking obvious thing to do to improve the quality of the piece and relate it back to the EL.

He's been one of our best players this season getting plaudits from opposition fans in many games.

The story of the show HAS to be Roddy's Gold shoes.
I think they may actually have been solid gold. There's talk that he may be wearing a crown on next week's show! :D
I was thinking they looked like a pair of Michael Johnson's when he was at the Olympics.
I liked the way they kept having wide shots of the studio just so you could see them...
