We haven't played any games yet so he will be speaking english , if we are winning games it will be english if we are losing then all of a sudden his english will not be very good.

Headline on the RTÉ Website -
Trapattoni to be unveiled at RDS
Are they gonna have a white sheet over him which John Delaney will then remove whilst saying "I formally declare this Manager - Appointed!"

Generally at these things they start with a few trivial questions to get things warmed up.

Excellent question from an Italian journalist (at least I think he was Italian) about the history of Irish football, and the development of tactics from long ball under Charlton using taller players (Stuttgart88 is loving this!) to a more passing game
NeilMcD

I am just saying how these things work in general. First couple of questions are usually of a trivial nature to get people relaxed and warmed up and then they come with the more pertinent and hard hitting questions.

at least no one has said,
'Can you repeat that answer Trap'?
Tets, that inflated Italian? journalist took about 10 minutes to ask a simple question:confused:

It's dead.
That Italian journalist sucked out 90% of the space left with his long and winding question.

God damn you FAI! I suppose today's a day for :), not :(.
To surmise, he's a wonderfully charismatic, charming, smiley fella. Curiously stood up when asked the questions - shows his passion and enthusiasm, I believe.
General points: he knows all the players, has seen 20-30 DVDs and has been impressed - thinks we've good players in every position. He trusts the team and thinks there's a great possibility of qualifying. Stephen Ireland and the retirees are very important players, and he'll speak with them over the next ten days.
Frank Stapleton, Alan Kelly and Mick Martin are also part of the backroom team. Kelly obviously is the goalkeeping coach, no specific mention what the other two are doing. Was that announced before??
Overall, he's a really likeable character who you can't help but smile at and admire. That was my take anyway, probably missed a few "I'm the gaffer"-esque gems cos of the dreadful sound quality. I think he opened with "my English is no good", and Kilbane was the second player mentioned as one of our very good players. :D

Yeah Stapleton and Mick Martin are scouts and that was mentioned at the Brady Tardelli conference
