Congrats to my old friend Steve Bennett, or Gordon as he's known to his many friends. It's been a while but finally today you won your title...
We all doubted you, but your big moments (vs Mascherano at Old Trafford & with Scholes at the JJB) show you have the big time temprament.
Thank you Steve, my bet came through and as agreed the 10% cut will be in the form of a cheque via post, shall I send it to your proper address at Soho Square or the one at Old Trafford? Also is there any chance you, or one of your esteemed cohorts can make it to Moscow on Wednesday week as I would hate to miss out on another betting opportunity.

I assume Fergie and his friend will "manufacture" a Denmark-Sweden style result. :o
Wigan have nothing to play for, and Bruce won't want to upset he who must be obeyed. Fix.
watched game and will say as a non man utd fan nobody can accuse wigan & steve bruce manufacturing a result they gave it a good shot , definate penalty and should have had a second for foul on scholes but then again scholes should have been already sent of by then :ball:

Man U did what they had to do today, therefore they deserved to win.

Exactly. They deserved what they got. They were the better side over the course of the season and are deserved champions.

I'm a non-Utd fan as well, and from what I saw, Wigan did a "Manchester City", and took the afternoon off to have a snooze. :o

Rubbish anybody who saw that game today and thinks that Wigan did not try, is either blind or lacking in knowledge of the game.

I watched part of the game but from what I saw, United were either camped in the Wigan half, or strolling the ball around in midfield at walking pace. Bar Derby, they couldn't have picked a better away fixture, or referee for that matter, in order to go and win the league.

Rubbish. Watched the game as a neutral and Wigan were far better than I expected. Really put it up to them particularly in the first half. Of course United had the majority of the possession given the quality of player but Wigan were strong in defense for most of the game.
West ham last week was a far far easier game
United are deserving champions, and that's from a man who despises that poxy club, with it's fairweather fans, hypocritical manager and players who are just horrible human beings.

As a Man Utd fan I feel that if United win the Champions League on the 21st that Sir Alex Ferguson should call it a day and retire at the top where he belongs.
Doubles are rare nowadays and Trebles are now impossible so if he's waiting for another Treble he could be there until he's 100.
I'd love to see him bow out at the top and I'd fully respect him if he did.

Wigan were admirable and played like the game meant something to them. They have some good players in their side,Boyce,Palocious(sp?) and Valencia.
Steve Bennett was in short a bloody disgrace and cant be bothered arguing with anyone over it.
That said, UTD are,I relunctantly admit, deserving champions.Brillant strikers but ably backed up by two outstanding centre backs.Fergusons hunger is remarkable and the last two years he has bought very very well.
I guess he will stay on and hope to pass the scousers record of 18 league wins which he can do next season.
UTD have some big challenges ahead. How do replace Ferguson?Giggs and Scholes are past their best and the spiraling interest rates the Glazers are paying back on that loan will have to be passed onto their fans/customers.
But for now I would admire them if I did'nt dislike them so much.:)

He's going nowhere until Man Utd have more league titles than Liverpool.;)

Steve Bennett was in short a bloody disgrace and cant be bothered arguing with anyone over it.
Why? For giving a peno to Man U which was 100% a peno. For not giving Wigan a peno when only 1 Wigan player appealed for one and it is still unclear from replays whether the ball hit his arm of shoulder part of the arm.
True Scholes should have been shown a red but then he'd be castigated by Gray for spoiling the game. Neither he nor the linesman gave the peno on Scholes.
Easy to sit here and pontificate about referees when you see slow motion replays etc.
You listen too much to Andy "I hate referees" Gray. Impossible job made even worse by cheating players and biased commentators.

Yeah I thought Andy Gray was a disgrace yesterday. I nearly got to the point that I thought he wanted Chelsea to win the league. THe Ferdinand claim was touch and go and they lost out to one at Chelsea and they got away with on yesterday. Close calls that can go either way. I still think that Gray does not actually like Bennet as a person.

I can except the handball was difficult to spot(although if it was Wigan who handled it I reckon it would have been spotted) but not giving Scholes a second yellow was pretty spineless

Bennett shouldn't be given that much hassle. The peno Man U got was a peno, he also denied them another stonewall peno in the second half.
The Scholes sending off is the only gripe anyone can have with him.
The ball clearly struck Ferdinand's shoulder. He was lucky though because all the replays show Ferdinand stretching his arm out when the shot was hit.
