The Casey family own Oriel Park. There is an agreement to lease it to Dundalk FC for as long as they play football at the venue.
This tread has definitely been done not too long ago!
That's a unique situation Holidaysong. Do DFC pay rent?
Who are the Casey family? Could the pull the plug if they wanted to?

not being funny here but if the above is true then that crowd in Thomas Davis appear to have had at least the basis for the case as Rovers are just getting free use of a publicly funded facility and will be making a profit into the bargain themselves! Great victory for Rovers if they are the circumstances. Will any other teams have use of the stadium or will it be exclusively Rovers?
Read into the subject a bit more before posting.
You'll find their plans would have effectively destroyed the ground as a football venue. I'm not even going to say more because I'm simply sick of the subject! The bottom line is they didnt/dont want us in Tallaght, and the youth of Tallaght to be "restricted to a strict diet of association football".

I'm not doubting that you have much more of an understanding of the situation than i do but effectively Rovers are being given free use of a publicly funded stadium from which they will make money.
Apparently Thomas Davis had ulterior motives but on the grounds that the facility was being funded by the Local Authority using public funds there is at least the basis of a legal arguement.
