lissadel are through because mervue couldn't commit to it, is this correct?

fai wouldn't budge for them neither?

pretty much what i heard, if mervue played in this they couldnt play in the A league(shortened version), thankfully a lad off Lissadell played for pats fans yesterday as he had no game and was instrumental in our 10-2 win :)

pretty much what i heard, if mervue played in this they couldnt play in the A league(shortened version),

on Galway Bay FM on Friday they said if Mervue played in FAI Cup players would lose Junior status and be unable to play in Connacht and local cup competitions. So Mervue gave a walk over.

the 3rd round is not until the 8th of june. cant understand the urgency in getting these games played strictly by the dates stated.

i was told over the weekend that they had been fixed to play their conaught junior cup 1/4 final on the same day as the 1st round FAI cup game, and so they chose the conaught one. maybe this isnt the real reason, but I find it hard to beleive they wouldnt be allowed play in the A league if they had played in the FAI cup, sure aren't salthill and tullamore taking part in both?

Do you think they should have been allowed in to the competition anyway considering there A league season is a far off?

sounds like its a decision off the cuff to allow the teams in on an invitation type basis.

our own club booked a weekend in september, we couldn't make amends for this date on the 20th and found our selves in a bad situation.

Only if they face their A team. Don't eL teams enter in round 4 now, a round after the A teams?

I thought so anyway. Could be well wrong. Unless it's only the A League non-reserve sides, and the eL sides enter in round 3.

Premier teams come in in the next round because there was an article on St. James Gate hoping to get Pats, Bohs or Rovers if they get through this round on loi.ie

http://www.eircomloi.ie/other-competitions/fai-cup/fixtures/index.xml

Would be a lot of teams entering at the quarter final stage if Pineapple was right!

EL teams enter in the third round (last 32) according to the fixture list at the start of the season. Tullamore and Salthill are in this round but Mervue aren't, did they enter in the first round?

The dates for the later rounds on BohsPartisan's link are wrong (2nd of December is a Tuesday for a start). I think they're a dates for those rounds last year.

A big premier division club at home for us please

Will we do?

It brings a smile to my face when a non-League club official says "Well we wanted a Premier Division side , but we got UCD"

I won't mind home Premier side, away first Div. or non-league especially one we havn't played before.

If you promise to bring about 500 supporters:D

No offence meant but really need one of the historic premier teams. I am trying to promote the club locally with free tickets and stuff but if we got one of the big clubs it would make my 10 minute pieces on the radio a lot easier to hype up.
