God considering it is your big match of the year it is shocking, looked to be less than 900 home fans so that is not a good home crowd.

yea terrible but id like to see how many any clubs would get more if they were rock bottom all season.
I think the sticky fact being that you wouldn't be in the league to be bottom of it, had you not convinced us all of the massed hordes baying at the gates for tickets.

About 200 at Kildare v Dundalk tonight I would guess, maybe 250

The crowd in Terryland was still higher than the figure reported here for the last home game of the team on top of the league.
1,119 vs 1,089.

Haven't gotten my hand on an official figure for UCD v Rovers last night, but would say about 1100. Maybe a bit less.

Only about 2,400 at the Derry V Bray game. Oxygen and the 12th week-end probably didn't help.

Not Galway's fault in my opinion. The system was open to clubs to submit their current and prospective attendances and myself, LtiD, and a few of the UCD lads among others pointed out how ridiculous that was at the time of the FAI league takeover and got cursed off the site quite a few times for our 'obsession'. Allowing clubs to submit their own attendances and what they think they would get in the Premier without an independent FAI team taking official figures at at least two thirds of every club's games that season was one of the more idiotic decisions they made coming into the Super Duper League. That Galway allocated themselves a larger prospective attendance amid debatable actual figures* (they probably weren't the only ones to do so I might add)and were subsequently given a Premier spot is the sole fault of the FAI for coming up with the system.
* Let's not get into the Galway attendance thing for that season again, we've gone around in circles on it and there's no way for me to prove that Galway were lying about their numbers, or vica versa

Athlone Town vs Longford attendance 355.
Despite putting out over 200 posters, being on the radio 4 times last week and contacting the press about the match being on Friday instead of Saturday I was amazed at how many people did not know it was on.
This summer football is also killing us. We are having to change games on a regular basis due to other events on locally including over the last few week Westmeath matches clashing, this week the European Triathlon championships taking place in the town with nearly 4000 taking part and over 2000 people volunteering to do crowd control etc.
I was also contacted by a national paper Friday asking me what time the match was at Saturday as an attachment on his computer wouldnt open. I did not see any official release mentioning the date change either. Things like that don't help
We will have more people at the game against Kildare next week but again we will be competing against Westmeath vs Tipperary in the GAA
Summer football was brought in to help the clubs in European competition full stop and does not suit any club outside of Dublin or the full time clubs with big investors.

Cuz that type of event is likely to happen every fortnight, and there are never any competing attractions during the Winter footballing season....

Absolute nonesense.
Firstly - you would think that Summer football was some sort of unilateral decision forced upon the poor regional clubs by the nasties in Dublin/Merrion Square. In reality there was a vote, and plenty of regional and smaller clubs supported the change.
Secondly - City are neither Dublin-based nor have big investors, but I don't hear many claims that it doesn't suit us, so your point is plain wrong.
Anyone else in favour of a ban on people commenting on the crowds? Obviously I'm against guesses, but apart frm that the constant sniping about poor crowds of rival teams is pathetic. EVERYONE knows the crowds are ****e, and if someone gets 200 more, thats nothign to be ****ing celebrating. Then leads to stupid tit for tat and tbh half the posts on this thread could be deleted.

Sorry shouldnt have mentioned Dublin as the only example. Big cities can absorb other events and still have reasonable crowds. Rural teams find it much harder as there aren't as many people to spread round all events. Using your town as an example the populations of Derry compared to us gives a lot more people for absorbing all events and still gaining good crowds. Summer soccer does not work outside the big cities.
Population of Derry City in 2006 - 107300
Population of Athlone in 2006 - 15544
We are probably on a higher percentage of population than you are at matches but in rural areas we need to be competing without other attractions to get a fan base of the big city clubs and enable us to increase budgets.
The triathlon was used as an example not as a be all and end all. We compete with events on a regular basis from April through to September being a tourist town and winter soccer is better for us down here and I am sure that people from Longford, Galway, Limerick and Sligo feel the same

Convenient, but true.
If you are posting a figure for a crowd you may comment on otherwise keep it other threads?

Terrible home support in Bray tonight - would be surprised if there was more than 500 in the meccano stand, with maybe a 100 more behind the goal - we came close to filling the other side

Terrible home support as usual alright ! but saying that Bohs even came close to filling the awat side is just silly. The away side holds 1800, there was nowere near 1800 at the game. 1200 at tops !

Yeah Ok, a stand always looks fuller when you're in it because you can't see the gaps - how many Bohs do you reckon?

I would reckon that it was close on 50/50 at the match. Between 400 and 600 Bohs fans, which would be well down on what you brought last season but it was a Tuesday night.
We have 4 home games in 6 days so not everybody will be or could make all 4games, i would presume they will picking and choosing them this week. I'd say we will have the same against Millwall and Galway, then a sellout against Leeds on Sunday.

LOL
95% of Derry's people don't care. Religion is the least of their worries (and before any Derry fan comes on its aleague wide thing...)
Derry's crowds from 1985 have been a welcome boost to this league, from a high and unheard of 10,000 back in mid 80`s they (and Cork City) have easily averaged the best and most consistent crowds around, by some distance.
Taking 3,000 to an away uefa cup game, granted it was only over the water, but this alone will tell you enough about their fanbase.
I always looked forward to the Derry fans coming to Oriel, hopefully next season we will be see them again.

FFS, it must be cos you're out of the big boys division for so long or something. Those days are long gone for derry!
While derrys crowds were brilliant when they first came into the league, their crowds in recent years(especially their away crowds) - in united park anyway theyre no better than what we bring up there (and we dont bring that many at all!!). Ive seen them a couple of times in dublin too and its the exact same. (and like dodge said, its nothing to be ashamed of in EL context as all EL clubs are the exact same, just stating that derry are no different.)
In fact, the few non bullshtting derry fans have acknowledged that on EL mb's in recent times

Is he not talking about the home crowds?
Derry have to go to Dublin area a lot more than ye have to make a comparable trip so its understandable the crowds arent as high.
We need to concentrate on home crowds before we start worrying about clubs away crowds imo.
All clubs away crowds are relatively poor
