I don't know if this effects anybody else but the SAS flight to Oslo on the Tuesday has been changed. Apparently they have changed their Summer schedule so they have put us on to a flight that goes via Copenhagen. It's only means about 70 minutes in Copenhagen and we still arrive in to Oslo in the afternoon so it's not too bad. The main thing is having a direct flight home, which we still have. I'll do all the planes, trains and automobiles going out on a trip but coming home, when tired and hungover, I want the most direct route home that is possible.

Theres a train to Olso from Sandefjord station which is about 10 mins bus trip
from Torp. Takes about 1 hour 45min and costs around €25 return according
to Norways train website.

Ash, can you remember where you saw this price? I'm looking at a Norway train website (www.nsb.no (http://www.nsb.no)) and the results i'm getting say it costs a lot more than that. Just wondering if i'm looking in the wrong place. Thanks.

Yeah I must say I enjoyed it too. Not bad when you win 4-0 although I do have some vague memory of some local Danish girl at the bar. Not sure if she was a 4-0 win or a 3-0 defeat.

Was anybody else due to be flying on the Ryanair flight from Oslo back to Dublin on the Thursday? The flight is now changed to Friday instead. I'm not bothered at all, in fact I'm kind of glad as I was planning on taking the week off anyway, but it may disrupt some people's plans in terms of work etc.

If anyone from the London area wants to grab a cheap flight - Ryanair are doing one from Stansted to Torp/Sandefjord - out on the day before and back on the day after for £20 return

No harm in applying and letting the ticket office know you are going however there will be no problem with tickets for this game.

got a subsequent email to say they would refund my credit card in 5-7 days. Should be on it by now but can't check online.

A lot more hassle travelling through Stanstead but I've saved a day off work instead of having to take an extra day off.

Dont think so Joe. I'm going to Norway but that wont effect my chances of getting tickets for the qualifiers either.

Has anyone else not received their refund for Ryanair flights. I submitted my request for a full refund when I received notification of change but have got no refund yet. Re-booked via Stansted myself. There is no way I am letting Ryanair get away with my money.

On the subject of not getting absolutely rasped for our few days drinking is there point in arranging a venue/area to meet up? If so Gonland seems to be the cheapest for beer and also has the most life during the week - Olympen, Stargate, and Choice are 3 cheapish pubs there....

See: http://use-it.unginfo.oslo.no/sider/nightlife.php

Gronland is near the train station - see 'gron' to the right of this map:
http://www.oslo2000.uio.no/english/map3.htm

or we could go here: http://www.sir-winston.no/ ??????

I know this sound a bit sad. But heading over to this on my own and would not mind saving money on hotel etc. Single rooms can be expensive and lonely. (only messing about the last bit).

In addition the following pub could be a good place to gather early n during the day. €4.70 for a pint during the day is not bad.

Bohemen (D)
Arbeidergata 2
Beer: 38 and 46 after 18.00
Age: 20
This is the place to be if you want to meet real Norwegian football supporters. This is the official Vålerenga supporter pub, but they show a lot of different matches each day. Vålerenga is one of the local teams from Oslo. 8 TV-screens makes it possible to show 5 games at the same time. Or you can just play darts instead.

Another "cheap" place

Blue Monk
St. Olavs gate 23
Beer: NOK 39
Blue Monk is not a place you want to bring your in-laws, but if you are on the look out for beers and a pool table, Blue Monk will suit your needs just fine. Every now and then not so known local bands play there, sometimes they suck, sometimes they don’t. Blue Monk is right around the corner from independent youth house Blitz, and this shows, when it comes to Blue Monk regulars.

Finally my sort of place

and its €3.60 a pint.
Choice
Grønland 3
Beer: NOK 29
Choice is a skanky pub and as far away from high society as you possibly can travel. Nevertheless Choice is quite popular. In the morning you find older alcoholics here, but in the evening Choice attracts a younger, healthier crowd. All in all it is a great place to start your evening.

Have you tried a single bed in a dorm in a Hostel?

We're staying in the Primalen which is a hotel/hostel. A single room is about 75 euros, or at least it was when we booked. I reckon that's reasonable for a city centre single room.

Reder,

I was due to fly Dublin - Oslo return with Ryanair, Monday thru Thursday. Due to the date change of the return flight I booked to return home via London on the Thursday. Of course, Ryanair charged me for that but naturally haven't yet refunded me the cost of the original flight.

I'm definitely not going to let them away with it. Can you confirm the Ryanair phone/fax number which you tried?

If any one is looking to book this I would recommend the main airport as not sure if Ryanair fly to the same country. Express train runs from the airport to central stadium in the City - just swipe your credit card at the airport to get on the train. Metro is very cheap & taxis also work with credit cards - i think they prefer cards & may ask you to hand over in advance.

The Raddisson next to the central train station is very good if budget allows.

Pints are "only" around E8 but you can also get as low as E5.50 in city centre. That said is most expensive country I have been in, Makes Dublin seem cheap. You can buy duty free in the airport on arrival. Make sure you buy some aquavit (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akvavit) ;)

For a man who can afford to go to Turkey for a week to support the
Under 19's, then go to Norway Georgia, and Montenegro in quick succession, you would think that 27 euro would be peanuts to GSpain! :) I think you'll be buying us all a few drinks over there! :)

No I would say, that for a man who has gone to all of those, he will be broke and therefore we should buy him a pint.

All were probably cheaper than a night on the p!$$ in Oslo.

I'd say it will be a similar number to the game in Denmark last year, about 200 - 300.
