No future at Ipswich, his criticisms of the Brighton board mean no loan extension for him and word has it that he wants to come home and be a big fish in a smaller pond again. Bohs and Cork are supposedly in talks with him. I wonder who will sign him next.

he thought the wages they were offering him were a joke.

Incorrect. He wasn't complaining about his own situation, he was bemoaning the situation where the younger players who were coming to the end of their contracts were in the dark with regard as to whether they would be renewed or not. He said the older players can tolerate it a bit more, as they have experienced things like this before.
George will sign for City. Fingers crossed anyway.

He was only there on loan. The club captain and more experienced players could have said anything that was needing said. Why he felt the need to get involved in the politics of a club when it was clearly none of his business is beyond me.

That was my first reaction, he's a complete tool, but he's also a great player so Don't know if it would be a bad signing for us. have to say I'm undecided

I think we can safely rule out the Drogs signing him;)
Tried once before and were turned down so he could get a big pay rise from Cork and then sat in the stand for months:rolleyes:
Hope he comes back to the league though, we need characters like him. Pity he wasn't playing the night we won the league:D

Jesus Mark McGhee must be another anti-irish bigot. ended Glen Crowe's career at wolves and now getting rid of Murphy

Dual nationality I believe.
Can Georgie drive for himself again yet, might be a factor for him?
didnt both those players spout the usual nonsense about never playing for another club in Ireland except for city ? Would love to have both of them back in the leauge just for the abuse we could give em , real easy wind ups these 2 .

I detest George O'Callaghan. I hope he never comes back to the eircom league.
He's a talented player but his attitude is terrible. I actually applauded Damien Richardson, another character I detest, for having the balls to stand up to George and keep him out of the squad.
Examples of O'Callaghan's poor attitude:
-The piece about him at the POTY awards saying he hated all Shels players simply because "they hated him for no reason".
-He injured himself fouling a Bray player in a totally pointless challenge. The ball was down Bray's end of the pitch and he just lunged in wildly and injured himself.
-The talk about how he was going to win the FAI Cup for Cork in 2005 and then he subsequently disappeared in the final.
At his age, I don't think his attitude will ever be changed and any club that signs him are fools.
If he goes to Bohs he wont last long there. He really doesnt like Jackeens...

Come back home George
George may open his mouth when he should keep it shut and he may have done some silly things also but he is a decent guy and a good footballer - and I would like to see him back in the league - preferably at Cork but if not Bohs

Brighton are the only club in the FL that run a bit like an eL club - relying on donations from fans at times (Forty Notes Fund, Alive & Kicking Fund, etc) to stay in business. I would have thought he'd be used to clubs having "issues" issuing contracts in time - the Albion live hand to mouth and it can take time to finalise the funding for a bigger contract.

One of my favourite - maybe the favourite - non- Bohs player in the league in the last few years; always applauded us as well, at the Cross and in Dalymount....
I'd love to see him in a Bohs shirt, though I can see how it might end horribly....

How do you know they didn't? Maybe they did in private? The fact this was made public is because of the stupidity of it.
It was daft of George to get involved in anything like that when he wasn't even a fully fledged player at the club. I think it's a perfect example of another case of Georgie's inflated opinion of himself, thinking that the whole world should listen to his pearls of wisdom.
If someone was on loan at my club and came out criticising the board I can guarantee the whole place would think he'd gone mad. It would be quickly followed by a boot up the hole on the way out the door.

as usual cork fans are ignoring the point . Hes gonna run out of options if hes not very careful

It does sound like he's in your head, in fairness.
George O'Callaghan is a tool.
If you were to make a cartoon of the cocky full-of-himself footballer it would be he.
Personally, I think it's very entertaining.
Also, despite all the crap he stirred up with solicitors etc, I don't think any of the City players would be too bothered or unsettled about him returning.
Although I'm unsure if Colin Healy would hit it off with him.
George up front next season would be a great development.

I was never a fan of George when he was with us. Found his antics rather childish and annoying.
However since he's gone I appreciate what he a valuable player he was. He was ALWAYS looking for the ball (not a lot of midfielders you can say that about) and he definitely drew the attention of the opposition to him leaving the likes of Joe Gamble to get on quietly with his job.
Not sure what our midfield would be with him in the squad but it would interesting to see what happens.
Wish George all the best no matter what he decides.

I was at that game & he was brutal. He practicially just stood in the middle of the field for the entire match & when he did move he was only making half-arsed runs. I know anyone can have a bad game but that wasn't the only time I'd seen Georgie play. He could be devastating on his day but alot of time he just looks like he couldn't be bother even strolling around the pitch.
Good luck to whoever signs him cos I have a feeling it'll end in tears...:(.

I seem to be missing something!
Are people saying Cork are trying to sign him but don't have a manager? Also, Cork have one of the best midfields in the country imo, its their strikers and defenders that need to be replaced, especially strikers.
Cork have so much potential but their leadership and common sense seems to let them down.

George started that game injured and got a very heavy tackle early in that game too.
He would not last long in Dublin but seems that Bohs are offering him silly money

Sure we only won because the kick off was delayed 15 minutes!
Well according to Nutsy anyway!

Anytime he is mentioned, I will bring up his bad sides as he is a terrible professional sportsperson attitude-wise. Considering this is a thread discussing his possible return to the eircom league, I feel compelled to discuss his poor professional approach as I feel any club or fan who thinks he is worth signing needs to cop on and look at him carefully. I hope I never see him back in the eircom league and it's no surprise really that his career is circling the drain, hence why he's been frozen out at Ipswich, being turned down by the mighty Brighton and now he thinks people here are so fickle and forgetful that he can get a team here.
What is wrong with doing this? It's like your compulsion to berate the FAI at every chance or pineapple stu's devotion to supporting the eircom league sides in Europe.
If it "consumed" me, I would bring it up on every single occasion, no matter how irrelevant. I don't have a Georgie Watch thread and I don't actively look out for him in the press. Face, it's possible for people to feel strongly about things but not be obsessed with them.
