I'm not at all suggesting that it's Marco's fault. He's only keeping the Wolves happy but I firmly believe that in this sort of circunstance the first seeing of anything official should be released on the official site.

Why?
Its for the fans viewing is it not? Is it not a fans forum? Not the end of the world really. All our releases are on the forum before or at the same time as the website.

Correct

Is it not a fans forum?
Correct

Not the end of the world really. All our releases are on the forum before or at the same time as the website.
No, it isn't the end of the World Sam and how you guys do things at Finn Park isn't my concern. I'm simply suggesting that in maintaining any level of professionalism, I'd suggest that anything that comes out of any club/business should first and foremost be issued through official print media or an online official site if one is available. I'm not trying to make a mountain out of it here, and I, like anyone else am entitled to my opinion. I was not having a dig at anyone, in particular Marco. I was simply airing my opinion, and yes, maybe in an irritated manner, but they are simply my views. I stand very strongly on people airing their opinions whether I like them or not. Personally I don't give a rat's arse about what people think of my views after I've aired them and if I'm wrong I'll admit I'm wrong. Bottom line anyway here is that these are not official at the present as there is no sponsor on them. I can hear the phone ring at the club now..........''Guess what..he said this and he said that''...

Oh.....and what I said in an earlier post about my reviewing my involvement, time and effort, for those of you that didn't quite follow me and felt the need to pick up the telephone, what I was trying to say is the things that I'm currently involved in seem to be taking up quite a bit of my time, hey, but that was my choice to get involved in the first place. I offered. I carried out and just so we are clear, I asked for nothing in return.

dont think your views are wrong luka but biased because its your website. you should have been given a copy to release but its no big deal afterall its cobh 'freemasons' ramblers, things happen here hat defy belief im not in a position at the moment to run for any sort of position on the board but as soon as i am ill be there the club needs new blood.

ill explain the above statement now (and Marco not a potshot at you or anyone "do not tell me go to the club house and ask because i have asked a committee member several times about this)

whats the story with the stand would i be right in saying it will not be open for new season?

would it be very simple and viable for the chairman or board member to place statements for such issues as these on the web.

the stand (will/or will not) be open for the first home game of the season! and reasons as to why not if so!

I don't believe I'm seeing these pics here. Usually the first port of call for a new kit release is the official club site and not an unofficial football discussion forum FFS. I'm beginning to wonder why I bother at all lads. I really am. Maybe in light of things that don't seem to be happening I need to review the involvement, effort and time I put in.

Count to ten luka, in the nose out the mouth!!!;)

Fair point. I only put there what I'm given to put there, but the site belongs to the club though. Anyway, it's going in through nose and out through the mouth now. Honestly though, I wasn't having a go at any one individual this morning. I was just trying to get the point across that we should have a more structured approach these things.

i think the new kits look great.

I'm undecided about it. From viewing the images I don't think I like it but before I make my ''own personal decision'' on it, I'd like to see the up close and personal.

what they should do is like harps did(i think) a couple of years ago. get a hundred local businesses to put 1000 euro in each put each business name in hat pick one out for home jerseys, one out for away jerseys and the rest get in to program every home game alternating and they get a reduced size sign in ground.or alternativly they can if not sucessful have the option in stead of a sign to be a match day sponsor or player/ ball sponsor

that way would guarantee 100 k ayear and i really dont think goodyear are offering that.

The Rebel Ram
16/02/2008, 12:56 PM
I can't see 100 local buisnesses being interested!

ramsfan
16/02/2008, 3:45 PM
alot of big companies in the harbour would prob go for it, shops, pubs etc
doesnt have to be 100 could be fifty, sponsorship as it is isnt much more than 20 k so even 50 a t 1k is a win situation

i suggested this to a committee member a few years back he laughed at me then harps went away and did it......

I heard this morning that there is deff no main sponsor yet!!!

My confidence is fading............

It's down to comitment and dedication from the players now, we all know they have been superb to the club so far, lets hope they can keep going for us.

luka
17/02/2008, 10:50 AM
Correct.

I'm stuck for words on this issue and I find it hard to believe that there isn't someone out there interested in sponsoring a Premier League team.........

The Rebel Ram

Who have they tried? Is it only local companies or companies with local connections?
How about all the bookies? They are making fortunes these past few years, as you can see with Boyles and Sunderland.
Have they been approached? Paddy Power, Ladbrookes, Bet Fair, Celtic Bookmakers, Stanley's.
It would suit them to have a sporting team. Great exposure, nearly every sports fan I know has a punt every now and again. Great opertunities!
Seeing goodyear on the jersey doesn't inspire me to buy their tyres but I have backed with bookmakers that give a percentage back to the clubs.

I'm not familiar with the ins and outs of all that but I'm honestly very disillusioned at all this. I hope it pans out though. We'd better start thinking of fundraising ideas.

ramsfan
17/02/2008, 12:25 PM
my idea isnt such a bad thing in this situaution, it will be embarassing to be in premier on telly and have no sponsor:eek:

C'mon luka. You, me and just about every reasonable person on this forum know that something will get sorted. Most likely just the club and the sponsor playing it tough on the final price. Still 3 weeks to go, way too early for panic stations.

A few years back, my cousin played for a decent non-league club in England who did the sponsorship lottery thing, £1000 a go. They scoured the whole area and only 11 companies chipped in, giving them 11K compared to the 60-70k they normally got. They had to release half the squad and got relegated. Not a risk worth taking...

luka
17/02/2008, 8:09 PM
There must be cogs in the wheel somewhere Chimpster otherwise we wouldn't be in this sorry situ, however, I'm confident that it will in the end pan out to our benifit.

we had a greatyear under goodyear last year , pity we couldnt make it an even better year under them this year

ramsfan
17/02/2008, 8:16 PM
what about if we got sponsored by pfizers they surely could help us stay up this season:D;)

luka
17/02/2008, 8:20 PM
Yeah it was a GoodYear but without the likes of GoodYear and the like this year then we won't be having such a good year this year whereas if we had GoodYear this year then next year might even be a better year because we had GoodYear in our first year of our Premiership years and there'd be plenty more of those GoodYears to come in future years. Something will pop up before this GoodYears out I'd say.

ramsfan
17/02/2008, 8:20 PM
seriously though i suppose they have tried places like the local supermarket- no names mentioned who seem to be splashing the cash to establish themselves in the area , there must be lots of companies interested 10-15 k is probably all they are looking for or expect. i suppose tv could bring this up

times change, id say 2 years would be E100K, good year was E30K a year, if memory serves,
who says it wont be them again,
lads the club is trying to get the best deal for the club, it takes time, if it takes till the 6th of march so be it, if the best deal pops up then, with the season build interest will be stirred,
