So if we finish 1 place higher next year that'll be a good year?

Top 6 would be a satisfactory return.....5th or higher would be an excellent season.Avoiding relegation is a given-that is not to be one of the stated aims come pre season.
The Club have made it clear that this years aim is to progress and challenge the Top 4 with Top 6 been the minimum. We're not going to come in the Top 4 but in our second season full time 6th is very much attainable.

By saying 7th will be a bonus as long as we avoid relegation-you're pretty much saying "more of the same please".Is this year not the year to push on?why wait until 2009?It's not even 2008 yet and you're talking about 2009!?

We need another 5 on top of the 2 we have supposedly signed....including a proven goalscorer.

C if we play some of the good football that sligo played this year at home that would keep a lot of Terryland regulars happy. Avoiding relegation where 3 go down is a tall order and every single point will matter. Its just frustrating to see 2 lads up for a corner at home in the last 25 minutes of a game and the score 1-1. Hopefully the experience of this year will stand to TC and he held his nerve in fairness when a lot of us were panicking. The defenses are strong now at fortress terryland lets make impact signings in the middle and upfront. The club have to be positive they have to what else are they gonna say? Every supporter up and down the lands have hope in their hearts when a season starts. Thats the same for UTD, Scunthorpe, Arsenal,QPR even and all clubs, it rarely pans out the way we hoped but it keeps us going year in year out.

Hopefully Tony will deliver, i think we'd all like him to make a success of it.

But there won't be as much tolerance next year if t ain't up to scratch. We've proven we're well able to play when we want to so a good start and consistency is the key next year.

We seemed to(eventually) learn not to conceed goals in the last few minutes towards then end of the season so hopefully we won't drop to many needless points.

Without a doubt I bought into survival is the key to 2007 and I was on the whole happy out . BUT next season I want a whole lot better , now to be honest i don't see us in the top four with the players that have been linked to us so far you are not going to see me doing flick flacks down shop street ( if I could anyway ) that's for sure .
I would be happy with 4 very good players instead of the seven banged on about , now I know that would leave us light but some clubs have those players and yes they are paid a lot on money , but would like like to see just one player in the class of Mooney ,Ndo or McCourt grace Terryland .
It may never happen this season but i would love to see it happen at some stage in my lifetime .......

Claret I agree with you on McCourt et al but I think we won't be in position to attract these players until 2009 at the earliest and only if we are knocking on the door of a top four finish. The early signing of players is crucial so that TC can have his first team identified, this will cut down the need of buying in a raft of new players during the window which would upset things again. A good start with results is crucial we played some good games against the top teams early on this season but didnt get results if we can tirn that around we'll be heading higher up the table in 2008.

not a 27 yr old journey men...whos careers have gone downhill every club..see Fgen for quick referance) .

On the other forum you've said this about Fagan:

"he wasnt even given a chance. only game i remember him playing was againts waterford and i was impressed with his commitment and he played a solid perfromance on the right wing even though he's a center-mid....."

For McCulloch's ability I'd tend to listen to what Shels fans have to say, for the past 10 years their club has been signing the best players in the league!

I think it's fair to say that the problem you have is that Tony Cousins has signed these players so you'll just criticise them and highlight the ones that don't work out.

did his career not go downhill over the last few years no?. and ya i personally taught in the 1/2 games he played he was ok, needless to say other people think differant and he's gone!.... when in that line did i question Fagen ability i said his career was going downhill which it is/was... motherwell to us(few in between).... McCulloch st.johnston to us (few crap teams in between) hardly coming up in the world!

Some ridiculous comments in this thread. McCulloch is class - best left back we've had since Dave Crawley. Way too good for the First Division and would ease into a team competing for the Premier.

Leech is a class act too.

you cant judge a player until you see him play so for certain posters to be writing off players like Rouse,McCulloch and Leech (none of whom have officialy signed yet) is ridiculous.

Tony would have had all three players watched and his brother actually plays with Monaghan so he would have played with Rouse.

Sorry SFC because you finished where you did some people think you couldn't possibly have any good players.

I'd say St Johnstone to us is a step up, I'd say this is the first club he'll have been a full-time player at.

Anyway here's a clip of Mark Leech scoring 2 and setting up another for Shels in a game this season including a lob from the halfway! :)
Has he actually signed for us or has he just been offered a contract?

nice vision but the goalie was a mile of his line all it needed was accuracy to get as far as the goal and it was in!!..... :D

well if they have players good enough for a ''top 4 finish'' i think the likes of Bohs, Cork etc... would have been interested in them too dont ya think?. the step up the premier is huge, all the players we let go are class D1 players!!

gufct

Rovers showed that having a young team of well capable players in the 1st can go a long way in the Premier.

These signings sound good.

I take it that you are referring to Llewelen (is that how you spell his name?) Reilly who traveled half way across the world to play for Galway United but only managed half of a game in a rain soaked Turner's Cross before returning to the West Indies.

No expectations of success, or indeed of any sort of achievement,
and the cheques won't bounce.

He should get to know Vinny Faherty and Shane Treacy well
throughout the season.
