In fairness, it can be done with many names, probably all of them if you look hard enough.

what's the point?
I was taking the pee. The point was to give me something to do while I was supposed to be working. And, obviously, to annoy people. :D

Can anyone on here confirm that Brady is applying for the job with Giles as his assistant/consulant/co-manager? I have heard this today from a few people.

With Dunphy as public announcer! No joke. Brady realises he needs somebody with international management experience working alongside him to get the job. And has asked Giles to fill that role. This might explain why Giles is 28/1 for the job.

:D Santa is working on it.
Seriously though, you don't regard Brady as a contender for this job ? No track record of success. A devoted servant to Ireland like Stan as a player and more experience as a manager but an average track record at best as the latter.

Brady's getting interviewed tonight on NewsTalk about the documentary.

That Newstalk sports program can be irritating but they do good interviews, the best around over a wide range of sports. You can expect the big question will be asked unless Brady has struck a deal in blood that it wont be asked.

Post Brady's comments after he comes on Geysir. Newstalk online has no sound.

He only talked about Dalymount and what it meant for him. He talked about the build up to the USSR match 1974, one training session was all our lads needed in those days to fine tune their skills.
He talked about how much he looked forward ( also very nervously anxious) to make his debut and he was asked did it meet his expectations, he said it was an experience beyond all expectations. Sure was Liam. AFAIU, he reckons that it was the best victory ever.
The newstalk guy said that Liam didnīt talk about the managers job because he didnīt want to. Looks like Liam is very much 'on a need to know basis' type man. Whatever you say, say nothing.

Cheers Geysir. The Russia match was the best game and atmosphere I have ever experienced. Better than England in 88. 20 pence in for u12's. Watching as hundreds came over the Dalymount walls. Some fans brought ladders! Shouts of "Go back to the saltmines" The huge Johnny's giantkillers flag in the shed end. Giles and Brady running amok. Mancini getting sent off. And Givens hat-trick. Then thousands walking back into town singing behind the 2 guys holding the Johnny's Giantkillers flag.

What's the latest regarding Brady's candidacy? Am I right in thinking there now seems a real chance of him getting the job?

There's talk in one of the Daily T*ts about a Brady/Giles partnership. Just filling up print space I reckon. Not even worth discussing I'd say.

my initial reaction was ha ha.....then Oh no....but now I am kinda thinking it could be a LOT worse.....it may not be a bad idea. I presume Brady would be the main man with JG as right hand man and not a Houllier Evans kinda mess
Billo and The Dunph would be priceless after that!!!

There are probably worse scenarios, but I'll reserve judgement until it's reported in an actual newspaper, and not just an unsubstantiated pub conversation printed by "Heat Magazine on Sunday, featuring GANGLAND CRIMINALS ARE GOING TO SHOOT YOU! AND YOUR DOG TOO! weekly" .

A Giles and Brady combo is being considered as I said last week. I can remember quite a few posters saying on here that Stan would never be payed off..This is the FAI we are talking about here. Apparently Brady suggested working alongside a recognised assistant/co-manager to increase his chances of getting the job.

Brady. Proud Irishman and is as good as any of the front runners for the post. Gets my vote.

Why hire another Stan-Robson act? Just get an experienced International manager. Sanchez would be a good choice with what he got out of Northern Ireland.

Please dont go down this road ,the fact is he is not up to it and Fulham were of the same opinion!if we appoint him we are taking a massive step backwards Fulham made this mistake ,as did fai a la Stan but they are making sure not to slip again hence no Rinkydink manager hence Hodgson !Sanchez NO!

I'm not too worried if the FAI are thinking of Brady & Giles.
If they are that stupid then there is a fair chance we will be saved by another voting **** up.

Lets see if he goes odds on. Betfair will be a much better guide than Paddypowers because all of the candidates are based in England. It probably has more to do with the fact that Houllier's rejection of the job was mentioned on Todayfm.

Gone back out to 9/2 - I think some people need to re-evaluate the level of trust they place in their sources.
(Not me though, I've been told by 17 different insiders that Chris Coleman is a guaranteed nailed-on certainty for the job. Not one of them has ever been wrong about anything before)

I don't want the job. Why not say that. Instead he said he didn't know where the journo got the story from. Giles was very careful with his words.

Nothing really in that is there? "yeah, I think it should be Brady, and not Venables" is all that really amounts to. No reasons given, no arguements, examination of their careers, nothing. Probably just a reporter stuck a mic in his face "who should be the next Ireland manager Niall?", "erm, ah, um, Brady. Not Venables". "Cheers mate"
