Like the 17,000 Joe Publics who turned up to watch Brasil the last time we were in this mess (1987 in Lansdowne, capacity 49,000 at the time).

Anyway are Brasil confirmed for Feb ?

That's right we were in a Euro qualifying campaign mess in 1987. We only qualified by a point. :D

Brazil were not the same draw in 1987 that they would be now. We actually totally sold out Belgum a few weeks earlier.

I would expect Brazil to sellout even combined with another game. The block bookers will have to buy or lose their BB. Brazil are probably not the draw they were almost 4 years ago but still an attractive tie.

It may depend also on the World Cup draw. An attractive group may rekindle interest. A new manager would also help.

god what a mess it has all turned out to be - not unexpected but we all prayed and hoped somehow stan and his managerial team would get the team and the greatest fans in the world to euro 08.

i dont blame stan really - my deep anger lies with the fai - as i sat in the stadium in prague after the final whistle and watched my fellow ireland fans ponder on the what could have been and wonder why yet again they would miss another major championship.

after the game in prague i was speaking to a gang of germans and they were nearly as distraught as i was at the fact that the irish fans and team would miss out on the euros.

i dont want a protest in croker - we support the team to the end - as for stan although he is tactically inept - i dont agree with taking the protest to his door - he cares for irish football - its just that he shouldnt be managing it (-:

as an earlier member of foot said it wasnt stans fault he took the job - i would have considered it- any1 would have

its delaneys fault and his fai puppets for offering it to him- we are the best fans in the world and we deserve better - its time to act

take the protest en mass to the fai headquarters and lets get the treatment we deserve

on a side note did, anyone else notice the pictures of the crowd toward the end of the game where the irish fans shown were more interested in waving and smiling at the camera (one red headed knob in particular) and didn't seem to care one ioata that our euro08 dreams were vanishing down the swanny!

a lot of the crowd who travel overseas nowadays don't care one bit about the football but are just there for the drink and sh1tetalk. now don't get me wrong i am not a killjoy and make the most of trips away to support ireland and even after defeat i attempt to enjoy myself but i at least have an interest in the game while it's on not like some of these clowns.

yeah i actually metioned that in another thread, thought it was a disgraceful sight..............but to be fair they looked like FAI guys, all kitted out in similar tops

but when i was at the last world cup, i found a lot of the irish fans were a bit fair weather, i mean it took me months to get over the Spain game but there were guys heading out that night for a big party and the craic, all happy go lucky.................i guess defeats hit me harder than some

see i dont agree with that, cause you are then supporting Stan and delaney, and 2 more years of rubbish
Buy the tickets and clap and sing, go ahead, but we wont be going anywhere till 2012

Stan should do the honourable thing and resign (like Keegan and Macarthy)

bennocelt -what you say is true - i just would hate to see croker full for an ireland game and 80000 fans turn up to protest in black - if ya know what i mean

but yes it delaney would take it as a sign of fans support cos he is an idiot

but im sure u agree mate - it truly has turned into a horrible mess

sad so so sad
