No they are providing the equipment and training. 2 clubs in each division at the moment but think it will be rolled out to all clubs eventually.

I dont think all clubs put their names forward for them, which is a disgrace if that is the case

Some already have them.

This company are providing the GAA with defibs.
I've been told they are giving a special offer to Soccer clubs now too.

Every team should have one. At our own club David Freeman is out for the season with a heart complain. See todays mirror and www.ltfc.ie. Thankfully it didnt happen on the field of play or god only knows what may have happened. We wish him well.

This issue has been raised again up with us. Some of you may know but, a man unfortunately lost his life in the terraces at Finn Park from a heart attack. There was a defibrillator in the ambulance but it was in vain.

Jaysis, sorry to hear that, did this happen recently?

It was really hard to take for all involved with Harps, the man supported Harps from day one and travelled nearly an hour from home to Finn Park, week in, week out.
As I said above, the defib unfortunately didnt help in this case, but it could make a real difference in future cases (hopefully not needed though) The club officials going on this coarse can only be a good thing.
Our Chairman, John Campbell has made a valid point, he says that each club or organisation should have the likes of a defib present. They should be there for training, etc and not just for official match days.
Local schools up here have started fund-raising in the last few weeks in order to purchase a defibrillator, each club/organisation should do the same imo.

Frightening!!
You'd think the government would sort out some type of funding for these machines!!

My thoughts exactly. Im also of the opinion that these pointles fines by the FAI (ie. Throwing of paper €500 or flares €100 or next fine up "fans chanting at games €3000) could be put to better use than, sending Delaney and co. off on their hols around the globe.

EVERY single public place should have these. My best mate (cousin) passed away 2 and a half years ago and a defib could have well have saved his life. We decided to hold a charity auction night to raise funds and purchase some and donate them to local sports clubs, charity groups, community centres etc... We got a call last week saying that one of the defibs we donated had saved a life.

Nice one Roo,
I bet that made you feel good.
Pity they didnt publicise it on the news etc!!
Where did that happen?

Your very own Clive Clarke is another good example of the benefits!!

Our GAA club got 2 of these machines, they had some deal where they cost €1200 from Croke Park.

One and a half years ago so?

Remember that. General life advice - never ever get drunk at a charity auction...!
