he's no better a pundit than anyone else in the pub who changes their mind after every turn in a game.

He's a far better analyst though.

Will those of you who have posted anti-Brady stuff on this thread own up to your ManUre allegiance?

I dont support ManUre, or any other club for that matter .... City is the ONLY club i follow. I just dont like him for failing Irish Football.

What the **** would you know about the state of the LOI, Nailler77? This appears to be your first post in any eL-related thread.

What would you know about the EL Sheridan ? You're a Dublin City fan......!!

:D :p

(Sorry - couldn't resist...)

How has Brady "failed Irish fiootball" ? I didn't realise he had the weight of messianic expectations upon his shoulders.

Sure it's all that man Brady's fault that our league's in the state it is.......

Brady was packed off across the water at a young age ffs, its hardly his fault he has little knowledge or involvement with the LoI.

The only way domestic football will grow is by learning to stand on its own two feet, not by relying on Irish football luminaries like Brady to support it out of some kind of nationalistic duty.

Every other league in the world in every other code have people who were involved in the sport at any level and 'made it big' contribute and give back to the game.

I know Ireland is a bit ****ed up and i know we have to deal all of this mind numbing 'everyone tells us our game is sh!te, so we gotta believe them at some point, sure it has to be our fault' cráp all the time but imo it still doesn't take from the fact that Brady and his ilk have failed our game.

I KNOW some people will pull out all the stops to defend him and justify and excuse him, i honestly couldn't care less. You opinion offers me nothing and as a result is invalid. I compare with all other leagues and it doesn't add up. There is only one conclusion, Brady and co are a disaster with little or no civic pride and the FAI should be all shot at dawn.

A very famous fromer Irish international gives our league a bit of praise, and lot's of the Olé Olé brigade might actually listen to him, and we all slaughter him because he never gave anything to the el.

He never played in the el so, imo, he has nothing to give back. Arsenal gave him the start to his career and he's paying them back by being head of their youth development etc. However, he never played a single el game. He was at Arsenal when he was 15, FFS. So for him to not only acknowledge it, but to praise it is really something. I might not always agree with him but there's no need to chastise him. The fact of the matter is the non-el fans might actually listen to him as he's an Irish footballing hero so it may very well be good for the league.

Yet despite that, imo, he owes the eircom league nothing. It never paid his wages, it never gave him a break.

Thats not really something you can qualify, its just an opinion.

This isn't about defending Brady or his actions towards our league. In this instance he made a positive remark about the league and now he's being pilloried for that as well. So he makes no comment and he's a pr1ck, he makes a positive comment and he's a pr1ck. Strange reasoning. Like I said before up until fairly recently there was very little positive to say anyway.

BUT.....I agree that its these ex pro's could make a contribution to our league, not out of obligation but out of principle. Because without a strong domestic league we'll never fulfill our potential at International level. I was encouraged by Dunne's recent comments that he'd someday like to return to play for Rovers. Its the attraction of these names that'll help the game here, but we've got to give them something worthwhile to come back to so lets get our own house in order first. The state of the game here isn't down to Brady and his pals over in England, its down to the boys club in the FAI.

Quite apart from anything else, that's a shocking attitude to have.
I never realised you were the sole arbiter of opinions in the world. Must be a burden on you.

The confidence of eircom league fans, players, officials and yes the fai who deserve some credit here is growing and is helped with comments from the likes of Brady. In Terryland last night I had a lad from the UK at his first ever LOI game and he was dead impressed with the teams, the venue the atmosphere. We need constant good PR if we are to grow and I cant understand those who get blinkered thinking how loyal they are and about the good old days. The league Of Ireland is not exclusively belong to the few, new comments, people, changed minds and fairweathers should be welcomed
