Wexford had to win the game, Limerick didnt. Wexford played a 4 6 0 formation and relied on break out football and set pieces which they were always going to get with a ref who didnt leave the half way line. Limerick lacked reg phisicallity such as white and Dannager and suffered. Should have been 10 0 up before they got that "free." Still two winnable games left so i still expect them to win the group.

Limerick were well on top in the first half, never expected they would eventually lose this one.
Did anyone see why Mikey Collins was sent off ? Their keeper went down but I didnt see what actually happened. Shame though, he'd been doing well since coming back into the side and will probably miss the next game or two.
Donie Curtin was having a good game, best I've seen from him, but he was subbed - his replacement didnt have the same impact I thought.
They're now definitely through to the knockout stages, but even after this defeat they still look most likely to top the group :ball:

Our 21s won the munster section today with a 3 0 away victory over Kilkenny City. We only had 12 players going down (sub keeper was no 12) as we had a lengthy injury list and two players played who were injured and stood out on the wings, dave ryan and John Grant. Peter white got one and Aled Harkin the other two. Keeper was booked for taking down striker and a peno awarded, he saved but took the same player down a min later and was sent off. Sub keeper then came on and saved the second peno :D

Ive watched them play a few times this year and have been really impressed by a number of them. I am just wondering are many of these players signed to the club or are they all free to leave once the 21s season is finished?

good luck to the under 21's.....hopefully they can go all the way. Don't see why Limerick couldn't get a result against either teams.....in saying that, outside of the munster league section i only saw Galway Utd play. They looked very good against Limerick in the Cup so i'd fancy them to go far aswell.

U21's played a (Munster ?) side on Tuesday night. Squad included Purcell and Finny, plus a good number of unknowns. Were losing 1-0 at half time, went 2 down soon after that, got back to 2-2 and created a half dozen excellent opportunites to kill the game off but didn't. The opposition got one more chance and took it. 2-3 final score.

I sincerely hope that Billy Barrett is getting the praise he deserves for all of this, and that now the 21's are in with a shout of National success that it won't be hijacked from him by other(s) trying to steal the glory.

Result from this weekend: Salthill Devon 0 - 1 Castlebar Celtic
That result gives Castlebar fourth place in the Connaught/Ulster section so we'll have them in the last 16.

And what a win. 3 1 down with ten to go and we pull it back to 3 3 and win 5 4 AET. So for winning this and topping our group we now have to go AWAY to Galway United next Sunday. Very strange as this is only a quarter final and with only four groups surely the winners of the groups could have been kept away from each other till the semis? Still great win today and well done to the players and management. Lets hope the galway pitch isnt the one they used last year/

Ya great match, very entertaining. Well done to the lads and its great to see Harrington back after illness. I fear for them next sunday against Galway though if they conceded 4 against CastleBar. They were an okay side but nothing special and looked younger and less physical than the Limerick U-21's. They showed great heart and team spirt to come back after being 3-1 down with a few minutes to go and then to go on and score 2 more in extra time. CastleBars fourth was some goal by the way.

All Celtic team bar two players U-19 and will be a force next year. Heard Limerick 4th was off-side, but when you can't defend from set pieces you will always be in trouble. Did 37 use any over age players and how many of the U-21's will break into first team next season. Galway a very good team but anything can happen in cup football. Surpised that you are not a home for Q-final as top seeds.

The team was made up of all u21 players, a few have played with the senior team. Looking at the squad there are more than a handful of the squad that could break into the first team if they are handled and treated properly.

The game will be played at Terryland at 2pm on Saturday. The lads had a facile win over the Kerry League, who were very disappointing. Galway have a talented bunch of young lads, playing neat passing football under the vocal stewardship of Billy Clery. Should be a good game.

Ya i knew they looked very young. They are a talented side just didnt have the experience. No all Limerick players who played on Monday were U-21. Many of them are still U-19 as well. In my opinion that u-21s team will make up the majority of the Senior team next year. Tierney, Danagher, White are all considered first team players already. With Harrington, Gregg, Clarke, Grant, Brazier (Vs Athlone last night), Curtain all making apperances for the first team this season. We all are suprised about the away draw seeing as we won our group and theres Leinster teams who came 3rd and 4th playing at home.

The Castlebar game was inspirational stuff :D
Castlebar looked a decent side, especially once they got ahead. They were very organised at the back, used the offside trap very well, got everyone behind the ball when they needed to defend, and even kept 4 defenders back against just one of us when they were attacking up the other end. They took their goals well too.
Their no.9 in particular was quick to spot which of our players would over-react to a few digs and himself and another player worked on it, made our lad look very stupid but luckily he only got one booking.
They were unlucky not to get a 4th before the 90minutes were up, but on the other hand we missed two excellent chances early on, one came off the cross bar after an attempt at chipping the keeper, and Peter White put one wide when he found himself in their box with the keeper beaten.
Well done to all involved, that win (when it looked like it was all over with 10minutes left) is one of the highlights of the season for me :)
It was nice to see a good bit of support turn up too, despite the weather.
Galway have an excellent 21s side, they beat us comfortably a few months back to put us out of the cup. But after Mondays performance, who knows.... :D
It is definitely on Saturday by the way.

and what a loss he was. most of the goals came right down the middle with the overused Peter White suffering badly. could have been 10 down, but in the last 30 mins when our defence was sorted we could have scored 6. Well done to all the players and all involved this year for a fantastic season.
Agree Well done to the lads but it was utter madness playing this the day after a tough senior match !
Also how come we had to play Galway Away ? surely seeding should have held for at least another round. I Think we were done over here somewhere along the line !

10000% agree. with only four groups surely the four winners of the group stages should have been kept apart till the semi finals.

Lads just a quick question.
If a L37 U-21 player now wants to go back playing Junior football, when is eligible to play?
Does he's contract now become null and void now that theier season is finished with L37?

I could be wrong but as far I know they are all entitiled to go back playing with their Junior Clubs now that the season is over. Most of them arent even on contracts are they?

Players are able to go back to junior or minor if they so wish and are eligable to play straight away and even get picked for the oscar trainor team within seconds :D they/junior club would have to contact limerick 37 for details

just reading about the 21s who have done well again this season and the future looks bright 1 thing that does worry me though is that some of these promising young players are now going back to play junior where they wont be long getting into bad habits.worse again is there not even going to the top junior clubs this could spoil alot of billy barretts good work.any thoughts on what 21s players will be in the senior squad next season?

Whats more worrying is that a lot of these players arent signed to Limerick37 and could therefore be signed up by any other LOI club. A lot of talent could be lost.

But was that because he left during the 21 season? He might have needed a transfer. Im not 100% sure.
I think now that the 21 season is over all players are effectively free to go back to their junior clubs easily enough unless they have signed a contract
with L37.

well i saw a post on the site saying that if someone wanted to know anything just ask so after the game i asked a load of questins and got answers to all of them all the 21s are on amatur contracts with 37 cause they couldnt play without a contract they will need to be released by the club if they leave before the end of the full season not just the 21s season
they have picked 7 players from the 21s to look at offerign contracts for next seasom and will meet them withtheir parents
i even got an answr when i asked about how much they would be offered but in a round about way the club will be giving free doctor and physio free jym and health checks including the heart monitoring every 2 months as well as paying for all coaching badges for the players free insurance and a whole load of other stuff that adds up in the year so talk of someone been offered 35 is crap when you take all the other stuff intoit i would be very happ to have my son sign cause they seem to want to help the young lads up the ladder
i asked as well about the oscar traynor squad and 37 are running that for the league and it seems to be run very well by judgeand barrett all the players got kit from 37 for training and the keepers got gloves as well
all my questions were all answered so if you lot want to ask some go to the shop or call the club i was happy after a chat
