Just watched the highlights of Athlone game, think we played well, most of the higlights were of Ramblers...Reilly should have buried 1 of the 2 chances late on..Dont think Limerick will be 2 confident coming down..they havent been great lately..scraping injury time goals..think we will win 2 nil..cant see us conceding any goals really...

Dont think he is up to it really..have no confidence in him tbh..maybe your right a goal would do him the world of good..who were the other 2 subs on sat night..did the lads on loan from City get a place on the bench..U21 had a good win in Waterford..any report on that match?

bellavistaman
09/07/2007, 9:48 AM
I dont know the athlone lad said we only had 4 subs i dunno, all i heard from 21s was Mucky scored a peno. Good win Waterford meant to be a good side!

Not at all, I actually like the bar because the people there are always up for a chat, always friendly and I always have a laugh in there looking at that clown from Westlife being displayed in his Cobh jersey :p

They serve a good pint in there though and when we were getting hopped in the League Cup this season it provided me with a bit of sanction for the last half hour or so :)

your right there Bellavistaman..for years now all we are listening to is how bad the pint is or no atmosphere up there..if more people went up there, the atmosphere would be better..suppose the regime that run the club have a lot to answer for also ..they wouldnt entice anyone to go up there..you would get looks and whispers when you go in...needs major changes up there..new younger blood..people who know whats going on..people who would make you feel welcome..not look down their noses at ya..

well they do have plans to cahnge the layout of the place but getting it done is another thing the club is a bit of a disaster getting things done sometimes..... a stand that was supposed to start in november and finish in 3 weeks is now in its 36th week of construction.... maybe its not the fault of the rams but galway started their stand a mere few weeks ago and if you see the pics its nearing ompleteion and it isnt a mickey mouse stand like ours either.,.. concrete stand flood lights on top dressing srooms and other stuff underneath i think

we have proably the best floodlights in the division if not the league, there the newest ones around and are easy to maintain, galway will have to climb the stand for maintanece, so do cork, i dunno if anyone has floodlights that can be lowered, saves a fortune as you dont have to pay someone to climb up the bloody things,
also we have a great new dressing room so what else do we need we have one stand, the other will be complete (you just have to wait, politics and contractors) the clubhouse will be done eventually,
but we need a young person to run it, i think personally no-one who has connections to the club, our any previous people who were associated with it, just pay an expierianced young manager to come in and draw them in its worth it, not sayin the current crowd are doin bad, profits are up in the bar, but they could go higher with a younger perspective in charge, throwing up 3 lcd's will bring only so many in, now the next step get them in when there no game on the tvs,

we cant do anything about the stand, it will be done, thats a fact, but well just have to wait, that one thing and we will definately have the best ground in the division, (im open to corrections if anyone thinks differently)

ya agree with you ther the lights are great..but we are the laughing stock over the stand..people are calling it "Wembly" its taking so long..dont think enough pressure is been put on to get it finished...
As for a yong bar manager been appointed dont think thats a good idea..current one is not pulling his weight at all...dont think the club needs a bar manager tbh..waste of money..money that could be put to better use i.e The Team....the reason the turnover is up in bar is cos the team are doing so well..everyone follows a winning team..think the team doing so well is covering a lot of cracks in the club..

i dont care what the other think, cause when its done well have the best ground in teh divisiona nd if the rest geet done one of the best in the country a fully seated 5000 seater ground, doesnt matter if others are bigger, it enough for us for teh foreseable future, when we get enough success to upgrade beyond 5000 im sure the demand would more that pay for upgrades,

i think you do need a bar manager, one who knows how to keep the regulars while also drawing in the younger ones, get someone young who needs it for the stepping stone, so he gets a rep moves on to bigger pay and leaves his lagacy in with the next one for his stepping stone, they get a rep we get more customers win win, obviosly with money an issue he wont get payed as much which is why hell move on when he gets the opportunity but its a nice place to get a start, not to young now like 27 onwards.

turnover was up last three months of last year, no report for this year not till the AGM

I dont think theres need for change of manager personally, the club like all sports clubs in Cobh, will struggle and do rely on parties. because of its location i dont think it will ever attract a young crowd but i do thin k we should try do more of a push when football events are on tele, although when they try a push it has failed yet again... but there are few things need changing, like everywhere, and the plans for the new club house look very nice.

ya its grand to say we will have the best stadium in the division..5000 all seater..but our gates are prob only averaging 600-700 and thats when we are going well..think we have to get the basics right first..we certainly need a second pitch..everyone using st colemans park for training and matches..was up there last nght seniors and u21 team training..was very crowded..then you have minors and ladies teams also..remember the supporters club took out a loan for 100k to pay for the stand..think that money could be put to better use in the club..
as for doing up the clubhouse think that would be mad..throwing good money after bad..getting the club into more debt..

nice to see young people getting involved in the fundraising fun run..hope it gets the support..

Personally i would definitly prefer to see money put into the team over clubhouse stand or anything else, the team is and will always be my number 1 for developing, team goes up money will come, simple! stay up will have extra money hopefully, then decide on what else to do with a bit of profit made after few years.dunno if this is right but i think most grants you get can only be spent on what you are given it for, like if we got a grant for the clubhouse no point in leaving it sit there, lash away and spend it, but i think no matter how much money is put into developing the clubhouse cant see it taking off.

Fun Run, nothing fun bout 6km!:D Gawkin by the time we get to top of the hill, will have to take pit stop in JD's:D:D.

But seriously its a fantastic idea and the sub committee are putting in a savage amount of work and everybody who supports the club should take a card, even if they wont run it, and support the night in Ramblers after. The committee one or two in particular deserve unbelievable amount of credit! Well done!

wouldnt be the first time you got sick in jd`s bellavistaman!
seriously though ur right about developing clubhouse,no matter what they do unless there major changes up there, they wont get support..
a lot of people out there who wont support the club because we all know why..

that fundraising sub committee is like a breath of fresh air to the club..young people getting involved with fresh ideas..fair play to them

Na never inside a pub thank god.Wait till i get home! Well alot of people in Cobh dislike rams for alot of reasons wheter it be screwed around in youth 60 years ago, or 1 bad pint 5 years ago. And the people who dislke the football side of things generally wont support the bar. But things are slowly changing, the bar for the first hour after the match is always brilliant, jam packed great craic, but come 11 or half, empty. down to the local, and thats very hard to change.

Rams-07

think that has a lot to do with the atmosphere up there..i find when you go in after a match there is great crack as you say,but with the new drink driving laws a lot of the cork lads leave after an hour..you then have the cobh lads still there but things go very quiet...no backround music, all your looking at on the big screen with the aertel results on all night (they should realise that te scores dont change after full time).
i remember one night watcing a cookery programme after a match and when i asked the barmaid to put on sky sports she told me she didn`t know how to change the channels...so 6 of left and went to another pub and when we went in there, they had great backround music on and sky sports on 3 screens...great atmosphere there and the rams was like a morgue..

Think the drink driving laws never allowed the cork lads to stay all night:D. I'll be the exact same saturday if we stay till 12 that will be very good, al my buddies wanted to stay but the shaggin parties alwys happen on the big match night, nothing can be done about that tho!Totally agree with you on everything else!i think If rams had have struck a deal with Springers and Wanderers the way JDs did Sunday afternoons would be worth about 4-500 to them rather than having two people and 1000 kids. And the afternoons the 21s play they might want to go in if they see the football on tele and a younger crowd in there having a laugh, way too late now though, Jack Doyles will never lose that crowd.
