If I remember right, High and Dry was before Pyromania, was it Kickeroo?

'High and Dry' was their 2nd album I believe. After 'All through the night' though I'm open to correction on that.

yup, you've got it right...High N Dry was the second, and IMHO best album the Leps did.

the Hair-Metal 80's killed a lot of my enthusiasm for the genre, but I did not hesitate to pick H-n-D out of the used bin when i saw it.

And Oddboy, Ludwig Van could never have composed what Cobain and Dougan can. Sure, all the mediocre plinkplonk stuff he turned out made him go deaf. I urge you to get a copy of Lifeforms. I'll lend you the album. It will change your life.
With the exception of "Fidelio" and the Pastoral, I can pretty much get by without Beethoven.
Bach is as necessary for life as oxygen itself.
As regards FSoL, back in the days when Donal Dineen was presenting No Disco, he regularly played their stuff. Not particularly bad, but hardly life altering.
For the quinntessential mind blowing, Damascene converting, Lucy in the sky type experience, get your hands on
"St. Matthews Passion".
You will see the light........... you will vote Labour !!;)

Anyone got Tenacious D.

There are a couple of really good tracks on it.

The tracks on the album are either Guns n Roses or Green Day type, or somewhere in the middle.

What's the earliest ye have? That was my parents. My first one was 20 (I think). Main track is Dizzy. "I'm so dizzy, my head is spinning...........like a whirlpool it never ends...."

i have now thats what i call music 1 and 2 as well. both are on vinyl. ah, come on theres a lot of famous songs on it. There down in Cork.
I think its on 1 or 2 but one of my fav songs is on it i think. Its called "the Crown" by Gary Byrd and the GB Experience. Sheer Class with the most intelligent lyrics on a record ever. (it deals with black culture, history, slavery etc). Goes on for about 12 minutes. Amazing song.

i have a few ElO songs and albums from before that.

Guns N'Roses - Appetite For Destruction (1987)
Counting Crows - Recovering The Satellites (1996)
The Goo Goo Dolls - Superstar Car Wash (think Ash with balls) (1993)
Something Corporate - Leaving Through The Window (2002)
The Get Up Kids - Something To Write Home About (1999/2000, I can't remember)
Therapy? - Infernal Love (1995?)
HIM - Razorblade Romance (1999)
Husker Du - Candy Apple Gray (1986)
Def Leppard - Hysteria (1987)

And as for my current, new listening stuff (aside from Something Corporate whose debut single 'Punk Rock Princess' is currently for sale):

The Ataris: Goodbye Astoria (great)
Good Charlotte: The Young And The Hopeless (also great)
The Revs: Suck (largely disappointing)
AFI: Sh1te, can't even remember the title... it was a birthday present (mixed)

i have Mercury Revs "All is Dream". The lead SINGERS VOICE CERTAINLY TAKES SOME GETTING USED TO. Although once you do there are some great tracks on there especially "a drop in time".
Apparently Jonathan Donahue (the lead singer) tried to gouge out another member of the bands eye with a spoon on board a flight to Britain!

i only have one flaming lips album but ive read that some critics rate one of their albumns as the record of the century!
