hmmmm, proves there might be something to Lapira after all.
Let him play for Rangers, we need all the players we can playing at a high level, Rangers are in Europe again this season, and are always there or thereabouts for every cup and title in Scotland.
Alan Maybury was reportedly being tracked by Rangers for a time, and I didn't care then it was Rangers, and I don't care now.

i hope he signs for rangers and does well for them, then plays for ireland in a home game.
Surely the same ignorants who boo every other rangers player would do similarly for Lapira, then the FAI might finally do something about it.
Remember Peter Madsen of Brondby came on for Denmark at lansdowne a few years ago but the announcer called him Peter Lovenkrands, poor ******* was booed for a half hour solid without a clue why.

I'm sure he'll get a great reception there.

I reserve the right to boo any player I want at any match.... It's the ignorant who take the higher moral stance and place booing in the same bracket as sectarianism, racism and every other -ism that feeds their superiorty complex.
Back to the topic at hand. More power to Lapira.. I hope it works out for him!!

There's a Buzz around readytogo.net that McShane to Sunderland is back on... I don't generally pay too much attention to the roumers on that site but this one seems to have some credibillity!!

My head says 'good luck' to Lapira, and fair play for getting a chance at a big club who play in Europe every year.
My heart says that, having seen him pose on Sky Sports in the Rangers kit, I never want to see him play for Ireland again. That might sound tribal, and un-PC, but I don't care. I'm just glad that we have Keane, Doyle, Long, Stokes, Murphy, Keogh and Elliott ahead of him in the pecking order (and if O'Donovan goes to Fulham, he'll be in contention, whether rightly or not), and that we don't need him.

Been rumoured that he is training with QPR. We have just sold our best player Lee Cook to Fulham who is a left winger so this rumour might well be accurate although it is the silly season. On the books at Chelsea and we have been getting linked with a number of loan signings from Chelsea.

I noticed as well that Lewis Price has been sold, surely that means Shane Supple is their no1 choice for keeper now?

It would make sense, with Sidwell moving on in the close season, and the central midfield holding role still not filled.

No, i don't think thats accurate. I'm pretty sure this was the stage where Cardiff weren't going to get promoted and Alexander wouldn't sign a new contract so Jones gave Forde a chance.....thats not to say that Supple won't be first choice.

It was only a matter of time before he mentioned it. I guess if he does start banging in the goals he will get a call up.. possibly. If one thing is sure Stan is liable to make all sorts of odd decisions. See link.

I think he would need to have a great start if he wants an early call up to the squad with all the young strikers we have in the prem. O'Donovan should surely be ahead of him.

That's debatable. Going from a large club with a big fan base to what will be a struggling Premership side. He's already failed to make it in the Premiership with Man City and to be honest I don't think he will make it there. Doesn't have the pace or the physicality. Nice passer (usually) but he's had dodgy spells at Wednesday as well. The Owls need to keep him to push on in the Championship and I'll be disappointed and surprised if they sell for the peanuts on offer.

He didn't "fail" with Man City, Keegan never gave him a chance at senior level, even after captaining the reserve sides, and 2 spells out on loan.
That's why he left, he was no more a failure at Man City than McShane was at United

Of course he failed if the management team didn't rate him good enough to play in the first team on a regular basis. They saw him day in, day out, and if the object is to break in to the first team, and you don't, then by any definition you have failed.

Only a handful of young players make a breakthrough into Premiership first teams these days. I agree totally with Tets' McShane analogy. Young players are a tradable commodity, that's all. Stephen Elliott took a very similar route. Both are making good livings from the game having learnt well at good clubs. I'd say that's success given how few make it.

According to QPR's site, he's on trial there, according to Chelsea's site he's on loan there until Christmas.

Well Laursen and Mellberg are considered to be the first choice defenders at Villa, also throw into the mix Gary "is he/isn't he Irish?" Cahill and also the fact that Villa have been linked with several CBs (Curtis Davies today) so things don't look too promising for the lad.
Hopefully he'll get a bit of experience though as both Bouma and Laursen have had their fair share of injury problems in the past...
