Peno that was given was defo inside, peno that wasn't was too far away to judge so I'll go by what TV viewers reckon.
Bohs were clinical on the break and solid at the back, three points, end of. We were pretty in the first half without creating enough chances. Awful second half from us. Bohs resilience will keep them in touch but can't see them as contenders. Disappointment, sure, but no gripes - all tonight does is wipe out the cushion nice Rovers (;)) gave us on Friday.
Yeah hoping the 2 Rovers do us a favour tomorrow night would take 2 draws or the 2 Rovers winning. I don't expect us to win, Setanta and Europe for next season is all I want from this one, however would be nice to dream for a while.

He was a good bit outside on first contact, his leg got clipped again just as he was on the edge of the box. It should have been a free and a red card if it was last man (can't remember).

What's the latest on Joxer?
Great win. Pat's had two or three openers in the first half as far as I remember that they never connected with. Nice goal in the first half and a penno that even (that ******) Kelly couldn't turn down to kill 'em off.

cant think of any other teams we had that had someone that big up front with the clear intention of playing it to him to win the ball in the air.
im not sure there was any intention, just a lack of talent

Ah good. He was up for it tonight all right.
Looked bad for a while. I was right in line with the box and he was in bits on the ground, holding on to people and all. They never really looked stressed around him though.

FCUKKKKKKKKK!!!
Hate losing to teams that play like that, at least if your outplayed and lose fair enough hold your hand up and say "they were better"
You were outplayed, we were better. I'd also like to add that of all the teams we've played against this season, IMO Cork were the most impressive.

Apparently there was a banner on display from the Pats fans, which read:
Big Clubs Sell Their Grounds
If that was meant to be an insult or such - it's not actually that good
One wag on the Bohs forum came up with a reply to that banner:
"......and small clubs are gifted pubs."

Not only that but you would have needed binoculars to actually read it from the Jodi.

Agree about Cork. They were very good against us down there but couldn't put us away. I think their away record may hold them back though and when Drogs get a couple more players back they'll probably be the team to beat.

A new set of wheels have been put on - (and a stolen engine)
Peter Huttons Red and White Army , vroooom vroooom.
Watch your backs.
better team won.
we played well in 1st half but struggled in the 2nd and the lack of depth in the squad showed as there was nothing to bring on to improve it.
need to bring in 4/5 players to keep the challenge going.
13 games gone, 2 defeats, 6 points clear at top, would defo have taken that at the start of the season

Out of interest, what sanction will the FAI's Club Licensing section impose on Bohemians for not having a club doctor at the match? Fine? Deduction of points?

Sorry but going out to harold cross and inchicore you always knew the game would finish 1-0 or 0-0
or 5-0. :D
Shamrock fans must have stolen the engine from the Bohs bus as it never moved from in front of their goal.;) Molested them in the first half but Pats chance of winning, and the game as a spectacle, was dead once the goal went in. Bohs defence too good and Pats' lack of a plan B and thin squad meant there was only going to be one winner. Would have been a cracking game if Pats had nicked one of the early chances and forced Bohs to come out and play.
Fair play to Bohs and Connor though, very professional. Still think its Droghedas to lose - a season too early for both teams last night, although it will be interesting to see who they bring in during the transfer window.

It's not pretty but we are becoming a force again. In fairness to us and to a lesser extent St Pats we are still rebuilding. Drogheda are the only strong club in the league since the collapse of Derry and Shels and they are the only ones spending suicide money. Not to win the league would be a huge failure for them.
It's funny to hear Pats fans complaining about being beaten by teams that don't play nice football. Call Alanis Morrisette, she'll write a song about it for you.

Whilst we'll not win the League, we're not done yet.

Says a lot about this League when you've got a player with "fat tits" lying 3rd in the scoring charts with 8 goals already this season...
Crowe is obviously a good player but your argument isn't helped if you try to deny the fact that he very clearly has fat tits.

I'm interested to know how the game looked "quality wise" to those watching on the TV. I was filled with trpidation before the match last night and was convinced it was going to be a 0-0 borefest. Just wondering was a 2-0 borefest or did any quality come through on the box.

It was scrappy and disjointed but compelling enough (wouldn't quite say entertaining.) Other than Fahey everyone seemed nervous and hurried in possession.
I hope all those philistines who reckon Drogheda are a boring, negative team (they're certainly set up for solidity, but all their midfielders can and do play) were paying close attention to Bohs' formation last night. Three defensive midfielders, a forward so deep in the hole he brought a canary, their top scorer wide left and one man playing across the line who hardly saw the ball. I've no problem with it myself, but teams get stereotyped for less.

I see where you're coming from Sheridan. I wouldn't mind the door-bolt aspect so much if we just kept the ball on the floor. When a team utilises the counter attack the way we did it can be quite nice to watch but in a scientific/mechanical way rather than and artistic/aesthetic way.
Liked the "So deep in the hole he brought a canary" bit!

I love to watch swift counter-attacking football, I don't think there's a more exhilarating sight in sport than a team hitting rapidly on the break (like Russian and Ukrainian sides at the top of their game.) Of course, that strategy is predicated on the assumption that your defence is strong enough to withstand pressure, and Bohs seem to have perfected that aspect. I'm just not sure Connor is interested in taking it to the next level...

Bohs currently do not have the people to play it through the middle, especially against a set-up like Pats, where that is their strength. Most of our midfielders are defensive/holding-minded, although Rice, who has been a revelation, clearly can make runs forward and Joxer Kelly on form will always give defences grief, especially if Alan Kelly and his ilk get off his back.
Connor has already acknowledged this problem, and the transfer window activity will be interesting. A forward-looking midfield would make a huge difference, would bring the likes of Fenn into the frame, and would make Crowe even more lethal.
In the meantime, I'll go with the breaks and the pretty but ineffectual opposition.

Good result for us tonight. Our young lad Gary McCabe had a stormer tonight. He's one to look out for. UCD's only real threat came from their number 7 and Conor Sammon did look a bit menacing at times, at others he seemed a bit clumsy. But I won't harp on about that. Not a great performance but thoroughly effective.

Can't really argue with that. Thought Bray were possibly lucky enough to take the points - the winner came against the run of play when we had had mots of the play in the second half to that point, including scoring - but Bray did at least carve out a few chances, which is more than we did. Still, had to lose sometime. Roll on Waterford on Friday, and touch wood another ten game unbeaten streak!
