Tragic loss of super Saints fan
OUR attention was recently drawn to a dubious attempt by St Patrick's Athletic fans to honour new star Alan Kirby by inserting his name into the chorus of the old Salt-N-Pepa hit 'Push It'.
Therefore, it was with great shock that we learned yesterday that the architect of that particular effort, Saints fan Peter Ryan, had passed away following a sudden illness.
Peter was a young man cut down in his prime and the heart and soul of much of the terrace banter at Richmond Park. It will be a poorer place in his absence.

Like many others here I never had the pleasure of meeting wws but through reading his posts that showed his genuine love and knowledge of the game and witty one liners that could change the whole tone of a discussion I felt that I knew him.
My sincere condolences to all his family and friends.
RIP

Absolutely shocking. Only met the guy briefly once, on the way home from a Shels European game when, as you'd expect, slagging Shels was the main topic of conversation. One of the very few posters who regularly made me laugh out loud on reading his posts both here and on JW's old site (especially the subtle ones that the butt of the joke didn't get) but, as said above, knew his football as well.
RIP.

I only knew WWS through this forum and through his occasional posts on the Bohs forum. I'm sure I had the odd sparring match with him, but he certainly was one of those who brought knowledge, insight and intelligence to the board, and for that I'll miss him. RIP.

Jesus!
That news has really shocked me!! I'm really gutted by that.
I met Peter many times over the years when attending EL games in Dublin, the last time being in McDowell's last season.
What a fantastic bloke and I'm sure he will be very sadly missed by all his friends and family.
RIP!

I just want to say thankyou to everyone who took the time to post on this thread. It has been moving to read some of the comments. When I get a chance I will take the time to show my parents and I am sure it will be great for them to see how loved he was.
Thanks and God Bless

As most have said above, absolutely shocked.
Making people laugh is an underappreciated gift and he had it by the bucketload. The world is a poorer place without him.

shocked by the news. was a decent bloke. made me laugh outloud reading some of his posts here. condolenances to his family
Only met him once, at the Ireland B game in Dalymount last year. Gas man, the guy cracked me up despite spending the night trying (and succeeding!) to convince me that he was Dodge! I heard last Friday that he was ill in hospital, but not for a minute did I ever think it would have such an awful outcome, was gobsmacked when Philo rang me yesterday to tell me the news. Devestated for his family and friends, which, given his out-going and incredibly witty character, I'm sure there are many. I hope the banner was appreciated.

The banner was a superb gesture in Dalyer. World's not the same without wws.

banner was fantastic, couldn't believe it when I heard.
It's a very strange day today...spent a while making black armbands, still doesn't seem real. I really hope he's looking down taking the p!ss out of everybody as usual. Wherever he's gone I'm sure they're all laughing.
I hope the banner was appreciated.

I only met Peter a few times after Rovers vs Pats games in Inchicore when he used to come down with Nightdub and have a pint with the Rovers fans.
It's definitely a recurring theme throughout the thread as it's not many people who'll go for a drink with fans from any EL club.
Enjoyed his wit on this board.
Condolences to his family and friends.

Anyone willing and able to organise a wreath or something for Friday form the Foot.ie board, that anyone willing could chip-in for via Paypal or something ?

RIP, condolences to family and friends.
Dunno what to add to everything here. Only knew of him through his posts and I was floored by Peadar's post, so cannot begin to comprehend how people closer to him are feeling. He'll be sorely missed.
Like a few on here I suppose, the shock still hasn't worn off, but sure when it does we'll have the memories. And speaking of the memories, couldn't even begin to start. If you were there you need no reminding, if you were not there you don't need to know.
I have a funny feeling there'll be a loud, colourful, rowdy (Jaidi) away support in Terryland come Friday evening.

Didn't know him much, but still, R.I.P.
Its clear he had a big influence on everyone here, perhaps we can put something in our signatures or in the site banner for him, he was very dedicated it seems (as one can tell by all of his posts) and I think its the least we can do
P.S. The wreath sounds very good, if I can get my PayPal working I will send some money for it

Condolences to his family, his friends and his fellow St. Pat's supporters. I'm sure he'll be remembered for a long time, as the old saying goes 'Reputations last longer than lives'.
