You're talkin each team havin to play 30ish league games. When you include cup games in 4 competitions that makes for a long busy season. Granted most Div2 teams don't stay in some of those comps too long!
As Tube said midweek games would be a problem but a problem equally for all. The way it is now I feel some teams have the unfair advantage of playing 2 home games against another club. Not really fair with the long distances having to be travelled.
Maybe midweek games could be on a Wed and the league season extended!?

Would any clubs be in Favour of joining the two divisions together and just paying everyone twice. It would be mean more games and alot more midweek games. I dont think its fair to just choose the differnt sections as i believe 2B is a far easier than 2a this season with no offence to anyone. Id be in favour of a fairer league and more footy!!! Just a feeler. No harm in a debate on it. Anyone have any opinion
joining 2 divisions wouldnt work 2 manny league games & cups on top, it would be aesier 2 start a new division 3 with bottom 4 teams from 2a & 2b.
as 4 2b being far easier than 2a i would'nt go there, nothing between them

dont think there is much difference between Div 1 and either of the div 2's, Moy Villa topped 2A last season and now they are top of Div 1, any views on how the cup semi finals will go next thurs?

i think that the creation of a new division three would be a good idea and would give the weaker teams in the division something more to play for in the season.as for there being nothing between div 2a and 2b could disagree more!watched games from both divisions this year and 2a would definitely be of a better standard.although thats just my opinion!

Very good result for Clew Bay today.Really throws open the top of the division. Anyone know why the Town game was postponed?

Whats the story then? Who's fault was that? Do ye replay it? How can there be such lack of communication in this day and age!!? Sure Ballyvarys only out the road!

the kick-off was changed from 2:30 to 12:00 very early in the week. it was stated on the connaught and teletext that kickoff was 12:00 and also an e-mail was sent to both club secretarys and the referee. it looks like ballyvary get the three points.

great result for clew bay, all over Erris in the 2nd half. league is a bit tighter now still all to play for. it said on teletext all week that the castlebar ballyvary game was at 12 and same on mayo news.

Town are to blame and they will lose the points and deservedly so. Serious lack of communication going on. Won't name names but if you're reading this...a bit of talking to each other would'nt go astray lads.
What a f*** up. Especially after Clew Bays result down in Erris (well done!). The town lads I was talking to are seriously p***ed off! The players can't be blamed for this one!
Fair enough it was in the media but a call from one club secretary to another would've been nice.

how is the ballyvary sec meant to know that towns sec didn't inform his manager and players of the change in match times. it has absolutley nothing to do with ballyvary.

This is a Town problem and has absolutely nothing to do with Ballyvary. We cannot be responsible for what another club does or doesn't do. Now if the travelling team wants to ring and check that everything is ok (as is recommended by the MAFL) that's fine but there is no onus on the home team to ring anyone unless the change is down to them. In this case there was plenty of notice in the local press, on Aertel and via email. Everyone else concerned was aware of the change through these channels.

how do people see the semi finals of the mcdonnell cup going tomorrow evening?think it's going to be a tough one between clew bay and hollister but i'd fancy clew bay to make it to the final.in the other semi i can't see glenisland getting anywhere near erris especially as the game is in erris.if it wasn't i'd give glenisland some hope as they can be a decent divisional cup team and they did beat the previously unbeaten ballina in div 2b.i'm going for a clew bay versus erris b final.

two tough semi final games alright. dont know much about Glenisland but i would agree that Erris will be very hard beat at home. Clew Bay would be also expecting to win as they too have home advantage, anyone know how good this Hollister team is this year?

In fairness if the Town Secretary is to blame ye shouldnt go to hard on him. Im sure it was a genuine mistake. Hes probably one of the most commited secretarys the league has and definatley the hardest working at the town. If only people were as Quick to throw credit as they are to throw Blame.

No one has blamed anybody for the the mix up here Foot. It was a genuine mistake...his email was down. If it was'nt for Towns sec there would'nt be a Town. He stayed and kept the club going through the worst of times when others wanted to pack it in and when no one else would lend a hand. He possibly is the hardest working sec in Mayo and that has been acknowledged by the Mayo League at past awards ceremonies. Here's hoping he stays with the Town for many years to come cos it will be much worse off without him!
