Talking of pitches, does anyone here remember the pitch Genfitt(Kiltimagh) used to play on when they were in the league a number of years ago!!!

played there a few times the less said the better moved to kinaffe (swinford) after that, then ballyhaunis, joined with knock after that & played on there pitch, was'nt great eather. great 2 have a right clubhouse & Pitch now.

That must be a first! SIX players out with wedding injuries! Jesus, that must have been some wedding! Does that include the groom? Groinstrain perhaps??

 u cant put a foot wrong around here sorry fahy wont happen again!
it was a great wedding as far as can remember i did PULL something,:D

Niall Quinn, is he not with Sunderland!! :D Suprising that Marcus Moore did not pull you on that one, I thought he was no1. with the Town?

You play with them Town Old Boy? If Jinxsie can keep the head he will be handy alright but he has to controlled, I am sure after Scobys experiences with him last season he knows what to expect.

in fairness, everyone that is praising cbar town seems to be slghtly biased. from a neutral position, they seem to be way overrated. they still havent solved their goalkeeper problem, new keeper way too small, weak and cant hold shots or crosses, star player jinx is four stone overweight although he still has the skill, the much praised cheeko in the middle of the park is going nowhere and now seems to get his buzz out off the ball tackles. take it from me, the town will be stuck in the depths of div 2 for many years to come!

Hello to all,
Just in case any one was wondering the Town in question is Castlebar! With regards to Div2a Erris have got to be fav. No one's going to fancy having to go all the way down there, although if Erris have to travel to midweek games it could come against them. The Town should be in the shake up as well. They have a good manager in Scobie, Jinx is a good signing and the fact that they now seem to have a decent keeper in Niall Quinn should stand to them. Personally it would be great to see them go up and something some of the longer serving members of the club deserve!

I would bet my Bottom Dollar that in fact YOU ARE NIALL QUINN.Because the only one who would say he was decent would be himself. No offence but seriously. :o

That is a scurlous statement, a Castlebar Town keeper been on foot.ie and posting about themselves!!!

Looking at the times of the 2 posts from the 2 Castlebar Town players........ nah that would be just too much

No IrishYop I'm not a Town Keeper although I have been known to stand between the posts for them in the past....usually under duress I might add!!! When I said the Town keeper was decent I meant better than previous netminder. Jinx may be carryin a bit but the Town have had bigger!! In Div2 a good touch can go a long way. Players anonymously praising themselves on Foot....that's a scurrilous remark. I've never heard such scandal!!!!!

Who was the previous net minder? I thought Marcus was yer goalie?

For sure Jinx will add to your team without a doubt, he has bags of talent, but just needs to sort his head out and get off the booze a bit.
Between himself and Paul Maye it will make a decent midfield.
Is Terry Maughan still with ye?

these players mentioned would walk on to any division 2 side and also alot of higher division teams ,i heard there is a big squad out with the town at the moment and other players like johnny byrne ,terry maughan, stephen flynn, rob moore are good players and also make up a decent side for the town

So Terence is still there, heard something about him training with Boro at beginning of season, not true obviously. Robbie is still with ye? Handy man to have either up front or at the back, got a bag of goals with Celtic one season.

Ya there is a bigger squad and stronger than last season, only one player left (sammy earls) they have to cut the squad to 17 for matches is what i heard ,and there is good quality for a div 2 side from what i seen they should be there at the end of the season

I also agree- spot on CP! They seem to rate themselves! What you hear from them is cockiness without the trophies. Players mentioned above have no ambition or desire, and dont know how to battle for a league title. They should take another look at why Ballyheane B beat them last year- wanted to win it more. Sammy had the right idea- what a competitor!

Marcus was. I hear his intimidation of his own players has come against him! By the way Yop I'm retired . The knees have finally given in!!
Terry is still there, he's got a great shot on him just needs to learn to pass a bit more.
They're fairly solid at the back Rob Moore & Quiggs are a good pairing with Steve Flynn at left. Right back needs to be sorted out tho.

just to clarify genfitt had there own team got kicked out for busting a ball during a game was very dodgy pitch and very unhealthy to play on unless you worked for genfitt! Kiltimagh played on various pitches including kinaffe befor joining forces with knock gotta say pitch needs to improve as a player should be better.

played there a few times the less said the better moved to kinaffe (swinford) after that, then ballyhaunis, joined with knock after that & played on there pitch, was'nt great eather. great 2 have a right clubhouse & Pitch now.

Great credit has to go to the Division 2 sides - 7 of them are into Round 2 of the AIB Cup and in all your talk - Castlebar Town and Erris Utd B were results of Round 1!

Also congrats to Cross Celtic!

c/bar town v the bombers next week-that should be a cracker and maybe a indicator as to which side is better equiped to be pushing for promotion. town had a good win over manulla at the weekend and will probably start favourites but ballyvary were unlucky not to edge out a impressive ballinrobe side who are top of the premier only going down in extra time. whos going to win it?

well done to town on a mighty impressive win over manulla, i must say i was very shocked to hear the result, but everyone ive been talking to reckons it was deserved, but i stillfeel they will be too incosistent to push for a league title. there is no doubting a lot of their players have the skill, but a lack of concentration, a couple of short fuses and a few drink problems will cause them to lose games they should be winning. have been very impressed with their yound midfielder this seaso, johnny byrne.

Some people just love to slate the Town and really don't want to see to see them do well under any circumstance. Certain people at Celtic and Ballyheane really go out of their way to make life difficult for a club which has enough hassles of its own! Are you from one of those clubs Couchpotato??!!
Celtic have been after Towns ground for its youth teams for years. You would think they'd be delighted to have another local team trying to get serious about bringing through youngsters. Now that underage teams seem to be taking off for the Town hopefully it'll usher in a bright future!
Great Result last Sunday. Always nice to silence the critics! Celtic in the next round.....you never know!!

Celtic have rented (at a very fair price) Moneen for a number of years as it was under used with only one team playing on it. I think you are mis guided in thinking that Celtic are unhappy with Town having their own youth teams and good luck to them. The only question I would ask why wasn't done years ago. What do you mean Celtic people are going out of their way to make life difficult for Town. I hope you can back up such a statement. Why would Celtic be bothered with Town. Celtic have enough issues of their own rather than worrying about any other club. Waiting your reply. By the way I didnt see robert of Mark Moore on the team sheet last Sunday have they left the club. Great result win of the round.

im not actually slating the town, im just giving my honest opinion and i did congratulate them on the win over manulla. at the beginning of last season
the town were touted as promotion hopefuls and the players themselves thought they were a shoe-in for the title. the fact this was proven untrue hasnt deterred them whatsoever and the same things have been said at the beginning of this season so ive gone to watch them a few times and ive been dissapointed. as ive stated in a previous post, the talent is definitly there but there are too many egos on the team and when they are playing bad their heads drop and retort to cynical fouls and abusing referees, which is obviuosly coming from their new manager as i have never heard any manager abuse the ref and opposing players like he does!!

Firstly your paranoid, celtic have never shown Town disrespect recently or in the past,if so -give examples??????
And no i haven't packed it in- where do you get your info from?? I'm back playing and trainin with mitchels and have made myself available for the town if Quinner becomes unavailable at any stage.

Marcus - Why are you not getting your place Castlebar Town out of interest, I wud have thought that a player who has added so much to the club and team would at least been given a good run in the team?

Am I wrong in saying that Quinner does not have any "top level" soccer experience, would you think this not a daft move by Scoby, in your own opinion to leave out a more experienced player?

So does this mean with yourself gone that the turn around, lack of discipline and level of fitness with disappear or will they survive? Would you not be better to wait and fight for your place in goal, did you not dispose Alan Reilly (isnt that his name) for Celtic B to be their no 1 keeper when you won the league?

Maybe a move back to Celtic? I hear Dykes is looking for a keeper.

I have no problem with Tom. As far as I know we get on. If everyone at the club showed his committment they probably would'nt be in Div 2. My views on right back are just my opinion. Ballyvary pitch may not be the widest pitch around but I think you'll find it falls within the regulation size - Don't think you can call that 'abnormal'. It is certainly a better quality pitch than Moneen as regards surface.

Also forgot to say that the 'town wingers didn't get room in Ballyvary because they weren't allowed any room by the Bombers defence!
