So a battle between Castlebar Town and Erris for Division 2a and Ballina Town in 2b

Two more league games before the wek is out so I wouldn't go counting any chickens just yet - it might be a bit clearer next Monday.

went out to have a look at erris utd against clew bay saturday evening and i dont know how the erris lads came out of there with a point!clew bay hit the woodwork three times with the erris keeper making two or three brilliant saves and a certain goal was only just cleared off the line.from my own point of view i cant see them being there or thereabouts at the end of the season.clew bay could well surprise a few teams also-that is if they ever get a slice of luck!

As BallyBoy said it's definately too early to call yet but the games between Town and Erris could be cruical. At the moment everyone bar S&F are within 3 points of the top!

exactly. Jebus Swinford theres only 4 games gone for feckssake. And an interesting point. All teams seem to have good home records. this may be due to the quaility of pitches. I made this point last year and ill make it again. Some of the pitches are a disgrace. Weve already had to suffer Clew Bay, Ballina Utd and Erris pitches. What a crime they were. And theres many more a culprit. I have good time for Castlebar Town but for crying out Loud is it really that much hassle for ye to roll and cut Moneen on a regular basis  . I know your a good committee man "town old boy" But how come most clubs can get there house in order and ye have let moneen turn into a tinkers camp. Ye should be taking a more serious approch with your members and demanding they do there fair share off the pitch dont you think. I mean if town do start to rise up the leagues and i think they should it wont be long before you find yourselfs in hot water over the state of that place. Have i a point??

Unfortunately Pixiehead I'm no longer resident in Castlebar and unable to get involved with the club. Although once Town always Town and I get to see as many games as possible and I'm kept in the loop as to whats happening in the club.
Yes the pitch could be in better shape but as far as I know it's left to the same few to maintain and they're not able to do everything all the time!! If more people got involved with club matters instead of just wanting to play it may be different. Unlike with other clubs when players retire from the Town they tend not to stay involved which does'nt help. There are a few exceptions who put in a lot of effort.
The pitch itself would need to be totally levelled and resurfaced but the funds just are'nt there to carry out such work!

Well they beat us 3-1 at home. We went 1 up early but then went asleep. They might not play pretty footbal but are solid and dogged - they only had the bare 11 the day they played us with the manager playing as well. They are certainly beatable.

Swinford FC - roving reporter for foot. ie. first with the news as usual. Cross match was good. Ballina took the lead on 3 occassions - unfortunately keeping it the last time. They needed however 2 own goals to win the game. They play nice ground football but are beatable.

Judging by that Frogs animosity towards the Town I'd say you've already beaten his ass!! :D Or maybe he's just too yellow to come face to face on a pitch!!!;)

have castlebar town become so big that they now deserve a thread for themselves??;)big blow to their title aspirations last thursday evening against a talented bunch of clew bay lads.didn't get to see the match as was away but i hear that they finally got that little bit of luck thats been missing in their last few games.young tommy gill and damian walsh apparantly played very well as did big john scanlon in the heart of the defence.hopefully they can now build on the result from thursday and go on from there.on a side note its a lot to ask lads playing local soccer to play three games in a week-premiership players would be up in arms if they were asked to do it.

This will take a while!
Not tied to any club. I have been involved in several set-ups in Mayo, but never one that talked themselves up as much as your lot, without the trophies to prove it.
Few things- I do play astro.
I have pretended to play for brazil- havent we all?
I have yet to see "one way traffic" on this site!
Any (WONDER) team i have played with never worried about records, or our set-up, or anyone elses, or what anyone said about us. We just got the results and let everyone else talk crap in pubs.
I dont have to play for anyone for you to reply to me, this is'nt tit-for-tat, club v club insults- im simply observing what i have seen and heard from your mob. If you want to find a club to "pick-on", raise the bar in your own club first.
If you read my last post, you'll recognise that my point is this: for all town's talk,(and ambition,if any),they should be winning every game in that division.
As for your amazing away league record - thats all it is- a record. What does that say about town? one away league defeat in 2 seasons and still in the same division? and still keeping a record of such "records"? Records dont get you promoted- points do. Like the 3 you left behind in clew bay.
Sorry MT, you're right. Its just too easy to give out to people. Theres too much material to work with! When you get promoted, remember me and bait me into a response, and ill be the first to congratulate ye- a solemn promise! Until then, we better stop this, or go to the town thread, or the 12th man will kick us off!
I take it that "toffee" means your also an Everton fan- see, too much material! :ball::)

Erris went 2 up within 20 mins. One sweetly hit free kick and another nice one from a through ball. The free shouldn't have been given. The ref gave it for the Keeper steeping outside the box when kicking out the ball the thind was that he didn't have the ball in his hans at the time. Ballyvary managed to pull one back before the break. Erris grabbed athird early in the second half. From then Ballyvary pressed on - hitting the woodwork three times and a penalty claim turned down (ref gave free instead). They did grab a second with about 5 mins to go but couldn't get the equaliser.

Erris are a good footballing side - very strong up the middle. But Jesus they are awful moaners - constantly complaining to the referee. Looking forward to having another crack at them on Thursday night in the Cup.
