Just played first game with new database, of which great effort had been put to enhance the Eircom League database. Took over galway utd, eagerly anticipating a dogged battle against relegation.
But a couple of things(small but important), annoyed me straight away.
-The team are still part-time even tho its been advertised they're full-time for quite a while.
-Regillio Noitmeer is listed as being a wing back/attacking right mid.Makes it hard when he's supposed to be one of your better players as a centre-half.
-Colm James is listed as midfielder only(he hasn't started a game in midfield so far this year)

Small details but important nonetheless

If you can find me the rough lengths of contracts I can get that side of it done for the next version (wont be for a few months yet)...

Same with the players who are in the wrong positions.. I can get them sorted as well...

Gald you like it :)

Yeah, the eircom league update is top!

A positional change for Wexford Youths would be Stuart Lawlor though. He's down as a left back, he's actually right footed and plays more in the centre, so he'd be more suited as maybe a DRC. Off the top of me head, that's the only one I can think of really. Great update!

Tazskool
04/04/2007, 8:05 AM
thanks.. wasnt bad since all I had to go with for positions was the official press release so I had to guess exactly where across the pitch the Youths played! :) I shall get it changed for the next release (I think its end of May/June - not confirmed)

I don't know if it's possible to edit it, but the work-permit set-up for Ireland certainly needs attention. I can't recall a player ever being denied one for here, as far as I know they just have to meet the standards they would for any job, but in the game they're frequently denied a renewal.

not bad at all Taz. Top update, can't wait for the next one. Anything else I spot I'll try and help out. Keep up the good work!

Hitman - Work Permits are hard coded into the program and arent changable... :(
It all depends on if that player has played so many matches, as a %, for their national country over a certain period of time.

Gaillimh Al - I will get this changed for you for the next version :)

Hitman - Work Permits are hard coded into the program and arent changable...

I was afraid that might be the case, no worries. I suppose I can always hack around it by giving second nationality to the players affected.

I will make a note and see if we can get V1 V2 and V3 put on it so you can see the difference...

you have a very strange perception of the sports interactive team. the team has been slaving for years making the best sports game around bar none, with amatuer entusiasts like myself and tazskool doing the donkey work of researching every damn little detail of the footballing scene, work that not only is used by FM but also by Konami for Pro Evolution Soccer. the programmers are lads with jobs who try to make a living in a competitive field, not paris hilton rolling in cash or tom cruise wasting money on space aliens. save for it? its €30 in gamestop, you'd spend more on a single night out.

if it was taking food out of someones back then ill pay due to morals! whatever about your wonderful turn of phrase here, it literally does take money that could have either gone into the further development of one of europe's most popular PC games, or to the pockets of the people who gave you a game to "play it solid for ages wasnt like i had just got it....".

yes i have downloaded music, movies and games - most of them rubbish. any time the game, music or movie actually entertains me, however, i go and buy the album, watch it in the cinema, or buy the full version. when a game like FM or civilisation or pro evolution gives you literally dozens of hours of entertainment the least you could do is drop the price of a meal on them. not only do you ge tthe benefit of support and updates like this one, but you also get a warm fuzzy feeling inside of havign actually contributed to making something good, the way you probably would about paying in to see United. you wouldnt hop the wall in galway, would you?

look that was two mths ago so im not bothered what ya have to say about it now.... and ''whatever about your wonderful turn of phrase here'' i was ****ed when i wrote that so not bothered what it said!!.... if you dont want to take the game for free thats your problem but dont be giving me your high moral ground stance on the matter, well i find it hard to believe that after seeing say spoiderman 3 on the net for free you go to the cinema to watch it agin to ''contribute''..???..why wouldnt ya just stick your contribution into a poor box if your that nice a guy adn give it to the ppl who really need it!....i was out of work at the time and dole money doesnt amount to that much to pay €50 for the game when i could download it for free....your talking like im the 1st person to download the game for free!!......BOTHERED!!

I use a downloaded copy to, but then I did pay for the game, but my nephew decided it would be good to chew it so it doesn't work any more.

I don't know if you would call that theft? I think I read some where before that if you have the original disk it is not against the law. But that could be just emulated games.

Is it illegal? Well, when you installed the game you agreed to a license stating you would not alter the main program, which is what applying the no-cd patch does. So, yeah. Is it morally wrong? Probably not, since you've bought a different license.

SI as a company obvious have to take a hard line stance against it but as individuals they often say they understand the need for such programs either to replace broken cds or to install the game on a strange platform, eg Linux. To facilitate this, this year they've released Football Manager in the USA (World Soccer Manager its called over there) in e-License form - you can buy and download the game online, and the program will come "pre-cooked" to only work on your computer, letting you avoid DVDs and avoid dodgy downloads. If it works, the same system will be used over here - unfortunately I think all it will do is provide a legitimate way of using it for people like yourself, and the thieves will continue to use the DVD manner. perhaps at some point when the internet is at near 100% roll out, we can do away with DVDs altogether.

I don't use a no cd patch.

if you downloaded it, and it works without the cd, you are, whether you install it yourself or not. well, either you are or you're using something to bypass the cd-detection, which is pretty much the same thing but requires a bit more effort.

If you want to update his game you have to do it on his computer. You could do it on your's and then email his the files as attatchments but the file would be huge.

Go to this (http://www.footballmanager.net/en/patches/index.html) link. Download the first one (presuming he has PC not Mac), run and install it.

Then download the update on this thread, follow the instructions and it should work.

when you've put the files in the right folder, and started up the game, make sure to select the "FMF" database from the list. it'll say "original", change that.

depending on how old your nephew is, he might be more comfortable doing it than you :)

It's the original .exe and I use Daemon tools and a mirror image to access the game.

But I do not see myself as stealing it as I have bought it, just the disk in damaged. I'm sure SI games won't press charges :D

Why did they get rid of the points deductions of Milan, Lazio etc.?

The one thing I'm hoping for the next FM is that the amount of disallowed goals is reduced, it's seriously a joke in the current game
