Still, aren't you starting the game from last season when the reductions were in place?
Yes but they want the game to be up to date as of this season.

I bought the predecessor, FM07, on the cheap at the weekend. Any bugs I should be watching out for?

Ridiculously easy to win in the lower leagues (that includes LoI folks).
Just sign two or three half competent players and set your defence a bit deeper than normal.
I play slgihtly direct and attacking but another one of the lads swears by just leaving everything alone.
If starting off in LoI First Division or its equivalent anywhere else Stephen Geoghan, Mark Hutchinson and Russell Payne are must haves  (I kid you not)
Training is faintly ridiculous aswell. Get everything up to a four or five star rating and watch the superstars roll off the production line
I realise none of that is bugs per se, but a helpful start none the less :)

David Bingham with Gretna is a legend aswell and available for 1k.
Also young lad with Dundee called Paul Dixon, sign him no matter what level you're playing at.
I signed him for Gretna for 2k once and two seasons laters was flogging him for 3.8 million
Now, no more hints!! :)

By the standards of the game.
Because of the level of player the Irish Premier Division is far easier to win than say the English Premiership.
No need to be so defensive, the SPL is fairly sinchy too. In my first season up with Gretna I split the Old Firm and only lost the league to Celtic by a point.

It's very easy if you micro-manage. Basically, have a look at your next opponents. Due to the standard of player they won't be very dynamic and will have 1 or 2 very good attributes. Just stick an appropriate defender in to counter act this. Same goes for other end of the pitch.
Best thing you can do is to improve the team balances in the editor. I've realistically increased them i.e. Pats being fairly rich, Bohs having a few million knocking around. This makes the league more competitive as much better players come in.

Don't know about that but you should download the most up to date patch here (http://www.sigames.com/downloads.php?type=view&id=381) so there aren't any glitches in the game.

Just finished my first season with UCD. Avoided relegation easily enough in the end but have a few things I could do with some tips on.
How do I actually send scouts on scouting trips? I can't see where the action button for that is.
How do I make all player attributes visible? Again I couldn't find the setting for that.
Finally is it worth going after players that get filtered out by the "filter out unrealistic targets" option or are all of those players filtered out completely unsignable?

a, maybe your board dont all scouting ,, iotherwise its doable i just cant rememer the exact command
b , you do that at the start of the game , in advanced option theres a tick box for it
c, it might be worth while but you would have to pay wildly over the odds in terms of wages for them

It's the command that's the issue with on a. I can scout within Ireland but I've not been able to send either of my scouts off on missions. Thankfully one of them was set to scout the opposition before I joined so at least that's in place.
On b I really am that stupid so if you could literally tell me step by step how to find that option I'd be grateful.
Cheers for c, means I'm royally screwed unless I fix b. UCD don't exactly entice players with a hint of talent. Got very lucky with a signing in my first season who turned out to be my best player but otherwise we're talking non-league nobodies from England or the dregs of the EL First Division or (possibly even worse) Noel Hartigan.

UCD can't send scouts outside of Ireland.

Yeah that's my point. I can't find the command to even send them on missions within Ireland.

Lads I've been fiddling with the editor but can't find an option to change matchdays.
I want to put UCD into the English Football pyramid, and switch my default day for home games to Saturdays.
I can switch UCD into the pyramid but there doesn't appear to be anywhere to change the matchdays.
Can anyone help?

I don't think you can do that in the editor. you'll have to download a FMM (Football Manager Modifier).

Where can I get that?
It's annoying that you can't do it in the editor, I was able to back in 01/02.
