Fair enough Lionel.
Couldn't you have said that?
Was at that quarter-final in Elland Road and was some great talent on display.
Although I think Leeds had Europes second best team at that stage it was still an achievement.

Not without repeating myself ....or damaging my dilligently cultivated rep as an emotive reactionary who shoots from the hip.

Sean O Connor at Bohs so far

O don't be silly. And thats not his name by the way

Hands down winner has to be Gareth Farrelly at Bohs.
Mike Walker during his brief reign at Everton in 1994.

as said above, Mike Kerley first half 2006 season, far worse than stan, differant level of incompatancey, completley out of his depth in the premier league

though he had a great record with limerick prior to signing for us, on a tiny budget and got them to a league cup semi final i think:eek:

he did everything wrong, preparation, training, signings, tactics

stan could only wish to be as bad

Very unfair to Gross who has won many trophies in Switzerland and has a good record in Europe. He had a disappointing time at Spurs but I believe his record wasn't significantly worse than other Tottenham managers around that time.

Quinn at Sunderland, possibly:confused: But he had the good sense to get out when he realised it wasn't the job for him so I'd say No.

Ossie Ardiles' Spurs side which couldn't go 10 minutes without conceding a goal was way worse that Gross' reign.

Here's a couple that comes to mind. Erick Ribbech of Germany in Euro' 2000 and Christian Chukwu coaching Nigeria. Bobby Gould with Wales, Henri Michel with Cameroon, Stuart Baxter and "Shakes" with South Africa, the Austria manager in 1999-2000, Herbert Prohaska, I think (losing 9-0 to Spain).

He was out managed by Stan, which says a helluva lot

Can anyone think of any other managerial reigns that were as big a farce as Stauntons Ireland one? Christain(?) Gross at Spurs comes to mind......

If Toshack had ten Premiership players on the pitch like Stan Laurel had (and three more to bring off the bench), the score would have been very different.

At least Toshack is trying to change the way we play the game into a style that will enable us to compete with European teams. We just don't have any kind of cutting edge, at all. That's down to the players we have and not Toshack's fault. Staunton's tactics on Saturday were kick and hope, and that's being kind. sometimes it was just hope.

Kick and hope to our lone dwarf striker no less - you can see why people are clutching at straws to find worse managers anywhere in the world at any point in history.

They guy that managed that kids team in England somewhere that lost something like three seasons in a row, scored 6 goals in the time and averaged 8 conceded. Him. He'd give Stan a run for his money.
