Cup semi-finals on on thursday. Kilmore v Moy villa and Partry Athletic v Conn Rangers. Any views on how they will go and how the final will pan out.

Midway through the season and the league is looking like a three horse race between Kilmore, Moy Villa and Urlaur. Any views on the promotion and relegation battles.

C'mon lads this is the quietest division of all. Lets get some dicussions going.
:ball:

Best of luck to Short Frank, Donal Burke, Jamie Wall, Adrian & Johnny "Flash" Farragher & all the Partry lads in the Tonra Cup Final on Sunday from all the Cross Celtic boys. Great to see a small village side up there competing with the Town teams. Partry have made massive strides in 3/4 years and with a great bunch of lads, deserve to get to cup finals. Best of luck lads

Very leaky defence cannot see anything other than a Kilmore victory:eek:

Best of luck anyway:D

Some interesting results this weekend with Moy villa beating Kilmore and Partry beating Urlar at the top while ballyheane B and Inver winning at the bottom. Inver beating Killala brings them into the relegation fight. It looks like Moy Villa will top the division with Kilmore and Urlar fighting for second. Charlestown and Partry are not out of it yet. Moy Villa v Partry should be interesting next weekend

This weeks games
Killala v Ballyheane B - Killala
Moy Villa v Partry Athletic - Moy Villa
Urlar v Inver - Urlar
Conn Rangers v Kilmore - Draw
Mulranny v Charlestown - Charlestown

Biggest game is Moy Villa v Partry, just see Moy Villa shading it but maybe Partry will get a draw. Killala need to get a result at home to Ballyheane B after losing to Inver last week brought them right down into the relegation mix.

I am in a zone of which I dont normally come to, basement football.
I see Ballyheane B went to Killala with ten men and won 3-1 doesn,t say much for Killala, or div1 football.
Looks like Ballyheane is getting a stay of exacution, of which I thought would have fallen though the escape hatch down to Div2.by now.
Look in like Killala and Conn Rangers are heading for the drop.
Well done to joe redmond for the job he has done.against the odds

I have read some @*&$ written in these forums but this has to be the worst. Division 1 isn't the basement division, ever heard of division 2! you have insulted a whole division of a lot of fine teams and players by saying

I suppose you will try and explain it away by saying you were being ironic but I think you were just being you.

Didn't want to reply earlier in case I put a hex on it but Partry have beten Moy Villa the last two times they have played in Moy Villa and they made it three today after a exciting 4-3 win.

Great result for Partry yesterday and with their next 2 games at home to Mulranny and Charlestown they now have a great chance to push on for one of the 2 promotion places. Its good to see other teams coming into the race for promotion.

This weekend fixtures:
Its the top five teams playing the bottom five this weekend. Should keep things as they stand at the top and bottom.
Partry v Mulranny .... Partry
Kilmore v Ballyheane B .... Kilmore
Charlestown v Inver .... Charlestown (possibly a draw)
Conn Rangers v Urlar ..... Urlar
Moy Villa v Kilalla .... Moy Villa

Results This weekend:
Charlestown Athletic 2 v 3 Inver Utd.
Conn Rangers 3 v 6 Urlaur Utd.
Kilmore 2 v 0 Ballyheane B
Moy Villa 1 v 3 Killala
Partry Athletic 2 v 0 Mulranny Utd.

Once again one or two strange results this weekend. Moy Villa beaten again at home. Really dents their promotion hopes. Partry now only a point behind them on 25 points with Urlar on 30 in 1st and Kilmore on 29 in 2nd place. Big wins for Killala and Inver at the bottom. Charlestown's defeat to Inver finishes their promotion hopes. Looks like its goin to be an exiting finish to this division.

I think we have a great chance. This is the toughest and most open division this season in my opinion but Partry have been showing very well in the pre season. They have two very good new managers on board who will bring them on to the next level and we are all very positive about the season ahead.
Thanks for the compliment Jaun Pablo. Good luck to Ballinrobe for the season ahead.:)

Not as involved this year. We have a new manager, 5 or 6 new players and have done ok in the pre season. Who knows. As always you set out in hope rather than in expectation. Maybe this is part of the problem.

Killala were one up but the really heavy rain that day was making the pitch (Asahi) a deathtrap in places. In fact, one of the Killala players went off with a bad looking injury. Jimmy Blake did the right thing in abandoning it after 30mins or so.

Maximus

 Killala were actually 2 - 0 up after 15 mins! Game was called off after 20mins because the pitch conditions had deteriated after heavy rain and an U.14 match played earlier that day!

The full league tbles can be seem on snugboro united's webpage www.snugboro.com or.ie not quite sure..

The league seems to be wide open after the halfway stage of the first round with only erris lookin the danger side... I can see this bubble bursting though as their super league team are not going so well a lot of their players maybe playing both levels but will have to commit to super league status soon... A lot of mixed form in the league... Its really anyones guess who's gonna sneak through... Achill looking increasingly dodgy after a poor performance against a seemingly "understrength" Killala on sunday.. Anyone know why killala won't play on their new pitch? Is this a ploy to put off the big boys??

Any intelligent suggestions lads??:D

Seriously though Division 1 Table (http://www.sportsmanager.ie/t6.php?userid=6940&leaguetable=1&report=1&reporttype=mixresults&compid=6509&countyid=37&club_id=3994&sportid=8)

How do the forum feel about players playing for A and B sides of a team? Do Erris have an unfair advantage? I've no problem with it myself. If someones fit enough, let them play both.

Could Erris B and Ballina Town B get promoted this season? Potentially 5 B teams in the Premier Division? A team could finish 8th and get promoted to the Super League! Not good for Mayo football.

Apologies Joe on my tired typo.. Im sure people would realise its www.snugboro.com yes?:D:D

And as a response to the former question posed "who are the big boys" well I suppose you could say both B teams are in with a big shout of promotion.. Training with the A teams and using their players as the wish has to have its advantage against teams that seem to be caught in the vortex of the 1st division!! Look a the rise of the "B teams" in the last 3 seasons.. with the likes of Killala Charlestown and Partry Players constantly playing at a lower level they seem to be at a disadvantage straight away.. Soon the premier division may well become a "reserve league" with relegation candidates also in with a shout for super league status... Something is amiss.. You either sign A or B at the beginning of the season in my opinion.. They are two differnt teams when they meet in the Mayo FA cup... Should it not be like this for the league also....??:ball:

Would it be worth having a seperate B team championship for those clubs whose B teams won't register as a seperate club:rolleyes:

Division 1 will be a very tight division. I can see Erris going all the way if their B team doesn't get raided by the A team. Who goes up with them will be anyones guess. Watch out for Ballina, Ballyglass and Partry at the end of the season with K/K Utd as outsiders.

I think the current B team ruling is being abused by clubs hence the glut of B teams in or heading towards the top division. it is amazing the amount of quality players that are eligable to play with B teams when some of the players registered for the A teams cannot even get into the superleague teams

couldn't agree more with you re the age old question that is whether the a and b team should have seperate squads.you can see if the first team is struggling or heading towards relative midtable obscurity and the b team is pushing for promotion/silverware the b team is pumped with a team players.i do see the need to let players develop and try to make the breakthrough to the first team and fair play to them but there should be some sort of regrading of players to/from the first team/b team during the season to prevent some of the messing that goes on.
