Tell me how the Sunnis and Shia hate each other even though they are both Islamic.

...or the KKK hating blacks and promoting white supremacy but if you're a white homosexual then you're judged as the same level as black people.

...or the Dutch hating the Germans.

...or the Scots hating the English.

1.Islam isnt a race its a religion
2. the KKK dont just limit there hate to the colour of your skin they hate all people different from them its not just based on race , they hate blacks, jews, gays etc etc .
3.the dutch hate the germans !!!( bit of an slur on the dutch as im sure not all the dutch hate the germans your kind of generalising about a group of people there be carefull now not to call them THEY ;) ) might have something to do with the war though .

Sorry, let me explain. Yes you are right that racism is racism. My point being was that what one person person views as racist behaviour does not necessarily mean the other person views it as racist behaviour hence my examples of different cultures opposing different things.

The basic point I think Anto is trying to get across here is that nobody is deriving racism from Shilpa's comments about England and English people. Like it or not, if you classify as racism what the gang are saying to Shilpa, then you must classify Shilpa's comments towards the English as racist also. There's no two ways about it.

That comes down to interpretation surely. If you call me me a white b****rd I won't take offence but if you call someone a black b****rd they will because one is viewed as derogatory while the other is not.

racists generally believe there race is better than all others i dont think jade believes this but Shilpa thinks she is better than Jade !! thats why she keeps talking down to her slagging of her education etc ( im sure if Jade had multi millionares as parents to send her to private schools instead of the wreck of a junkie mother and no father that she had growing up then she too could have a better handle on the language ) .

Isn’t it the qualifing of the b****rd with either black or white the racist bit , now if the person is a b*****rd then calling them a b*****rd isn’t racist . they called her a liar a sneak etc etc etc lots of nasty names but none of them had anything to do with the colour of her skin .

Im sure if you where filmed for 24 hours a day and had little sound bites taken from what you said . For example if I took the words black B*****rd from your statement and played just that portion on the news you would sound like a racist as well .

But surely if we're looking for political correctness then the Big brother house is the last place we should look , its a show that promotes bulling , the best bits are the fights no one is interested in people getting on for 3 weeks and having a good time .

I don't find black to be derogatory at all and that's just twisting words. My point was that in society one term is viewed as offensive while the other isn't. Part of the reason for that is due to centuries of ingrained racism and slavery.

The second part of your question, technically you are right but again it comes down to interpretation. White people have never had their skin colour looked down upon or viewed as inferior. Non whites have.

I watched it again last night and while I repeat there was no conclusive and direct racism there was again racist undertones IMO. Jade coming out with "Shilpa Popadom" was asking for trouble.

I was actually thinking last night that hopefully this will kill off the Big Brother series because if not there is going to be a tragedy sometime. Jade, Danielle and Jo are going to be subjected to a fair bit of abuse on the streets for a while to come.

Will the programme makers be happy when someone is attacked on the street by some idiot or someone takes their own life because of the stress and pressure???

I mean when they're on the outside. I'm not just on about the celebrity version, it's the whole concept. It's got to a stage where it's getting silly and when people are burning effigies in India and e-mailing threats about the contestants to Channel 4, then people have gone too far.

There will come a time when something bad will happen due to the reaction of people. Whether that's an attack on someone or someone harming themselves I don't know but it's a pressurised situation and concept now.

That happens allready that guy from dublin a few years back got sort of attacked in a limerick club he was makign a guest appearance someone went up and poured a pint over his head , i agree its only a matter of time before someone gets a slap , the amount of dumb people out there is amazing you only have to look at the burning effigies in india as you say or the hullabalu about the mohamed pics in Denmark , where a cartoon led to a nun getting shot in the back .

Do people get outraged a lot easier these days listening to joe duffy every caller starts well jo im outraged about ........:D
