IS every Body Blind??? Oh LORD  Ive just Said that that Crossmolina have to Play all their games away and on top of that 4 of their main players have said they will put GAA first.....OH WOW and still nobody has tipped them to Go down........I think there is a serious case of Bandwagon jumping on this forum. Everybodys going for Boro and Claremorris to go down and Westport to Win.... If i recall last year everybody said Boro and Crossmolina to go down
and westport to Win.... How wrong ye where.
can someone explain why crossmolina are allowed to play in mayo league without a pitch.maybe someone from fathy can tell us. also is this fair on the other teams(clubs) having to play on astre turf.pixie, ihere big alan english has signed for the boro(BLAST FROM THE PAST)

i think that its actually a lot tougher to play on the astro turf than on grass so it would appear that FAHY (not fathy!!) would seeminly have an unfair advantage.however having played for the club since it was reformed a few years ago i would have to say that we would love to be playing on grass every week instead of playing on the astro-which is not to say that we are ungrateful to the mayo league for the use of it,quite the opposite in fact.as i said before your legs are often ruined after just the one tackle on that surface.if you had seen any of our preseason stuff (most of which we played at milebush)u definitely wouldn't be saying that fahy were at an advantage by playing there:D :D !!

we all know that the cost of land is expencive;but if your club or any club want to have a long history you must develope your own ground, with that comes youths and ladies.

the main problem that we face, and have done since we rejoined the league is that regardless of price nobody in the local area is willing to sell a bit of land to us.we thought that we had something in the pipeline recently but were quoted a rediculous price!
as for life existing outside of the super league-you're right!how daft was i thinking that there was any sort of football being played outside of the superleague!!in all fairness some sort of coverage needs to given to us 'lesser folk'!

Write to these newspapers if you are so unhappy with their coverage of the beautiful game.
At the start of the season before last I wrote a long letter to the Mayo News, my local paper, complaining about the lack of coverage of football in the paper. It was completely fair, in that I stated that I understood that gaelic was the main sport in the area and that they had a responsibility to it's advocates, but I felt that giving a full page, with colour pictures, of some random under 12 match in Geesalagh was a bit much in comparison to the coverage football was given. Their main football man, Edwin Mc Greal, in fairness to him, emailed me back a long and detailed letter, explaining how they decided their insane 25:1 page ratio of gaelic to football and then went on to detail his plans for the upcoming year in terms of his paper's coverage of our sport. There was a huge disparity between what he promised and what he produced. The Mayo News is totally formulaic in it's approach to football. If it's Westport, stick it in. Which is fair enough, as it's a Westport paper. However, they think that one page for each of the divisional cup finals, two pages a week on general matters and a little bit of Oscar Traynor coverage will suffice. Moreover, some of the match reports, by actual paided reporters, rather than correspondant from the clubs, are tantamount to criminality.
Skewed assessments, abounding cliches and half-arsed conjecture dominate proceedings. Some of the reports I read last year were the equivalent to "What I did On My Summer Holidays" essays you expect to receive from nine year olds. Then again, nobody else is any better. Face it, media in our part of the world leaves a lot to be desired. The answer would be to give the match reporting jobs to someone who understands and enjoys football, and can write, rather than someone who would prefer to be eating doughnuts and watching Countdown. As for their pre-season predictions, I can only presume they close their eyes, take out a needle, and proceed to make Pr#cks of themselves.

couldn't have said any better myself!!hear hear!!the coverage(or a complete lack of any coverage watsoever in the western people was a total joke!)do they not realise that the soccer season is about to get underway at all.i know the lad from the western people reads this site so hopefully he sits up and takes notice of our grievances with coverage of soccer around the county.he did say that it was up to pros and the likes to send in bits and pieces to the paper but to not even have anything about the kick off to the league season is disgraceful!!

This is, without doubt, the best post i have ever read! You've put into words, what i've heard people in mayo soccer circles saying for years. It would make your blood boil when you read a half-arsed report on a match you have seen, only for the newspaper report to give a completely different account of what had occurred! And on more than one occasion, watching a certain reporter turning up for games 40 minutes into a match, and then giving a FULL match report does'nt help matters or improve the standards! How many ex-players are reporting in mayo????

I contacted the Far East about it (complaints@fareast.ie) and they said they ran out of ink due to the large size of image!! But they hope to print a 2 page spread in next months bumper Easter addittion.... ;)
From what I have heard the reason that the Cbar player left Celtic was because of Scoby, so that does not bode well for him.
I would have swore that Paul Maye played for Cbar Celtic against Finn Harps in the Connaught, maybe I was seeing things!!!
Hop i won a premier league with celtic under scoby - great manager -never had problems with him and still don't - don't know where you get your news from.as regards my attitude - i left celtic(and yes i was getting my game and no disputes with anyone) due to the fact i wanted to see another castlebar team do well - before i signed for them along with others, they were well use to getting hammered in every game -but that doesn't happen these days.hopefully this year we can do better with scoby -at least he will have us fit and some game tactics.my attitude is what you call a winning attitude hop -and when you see fellas in training not taken it serious,+ never use to disipline(like in celtic),and drinkin nite b4 a game -it can **** you off big time.I'm no zenga - but i enjoy playing and try my best to win.The club needed a shake up and myself and the lads have turned it around -if a few feathers have been ruffled to change the club around-so what - its a man's game.we are castlebar town now(keep the ball on the ground) -not castlebar united(huffers).
ps - -you seem to have an issue with me irish hop - why don't you approach me!!

Just a HUge warning to anyone who will travel to ERRIS this year. Yesterday the pitch was nothing short of a discrace. Before the game the referree said that had the surface not had a small bit of give in it he would have had fears for players saftey. I understood that all Superleague Clubs where to have have their pitch inspected before the season starts and both the league and Erris where to Blame for this. Cows in a field in winter wouldnt have caused the damaged to the surface i can guarentee that when this pitch drys out this week you would be safer in a Cambodian Mine Field . honestly a Rugby game would have been Called off on it. You would want to see it to believe it. SHAME ON ERRIS

With the demise of the Mayo/Fai website, any chance of clubs putting up a report of their games on here. For example on www.swinfordfc.ie I came across a good report (on a template) of their B fixture on their site, nothing for the A team fixture though. Maybe the Mayo league should hold a workshop for all club P.R.O's ( and it's own for that matter!!). I'm sure Tom Kelly, Padraig Burns, and the other scribes could also give their input on what info they see as important when giving reports. From Junior down to the under 8's in every club they all like to read about themselves, their achievements and performances on and off the field. A good PRO is the best recruitment officer for any club. The PR for the Mayo league and also the Youths and schoolboys League is a shambles at the moment and the sooner the league acts on this the better. The Internet is a powerful tool as everyone here knows, as is the local papers. The Mayo league and the Mayo Youths Leagues admin do not seem to realise this though.

Well congrats mamoore. I think you should be nominated for The Mayo Person of the Year award for your contribution to soccer in the Castlebar region. With Glenisland in trouble why dont you sign for them and see how you can help them get back on their feet like you did for the town. I'm sorry but I cant get over your arrogance to think of yourself as some sort of Messiah. As for your winning attitude that you have I doubt you have won too much with the clubs that you have,(which is it, saved? or played for?):p
