Not too sure about the spelling United have signed Regillio Nitjmeer a 23 year old Dutch Centre Half. News should be on the Official site this morning so you can check the spelling there.

Squad United add exciting Dutch defender to their ranks.Tuesday, 06 February 2007
Galway United has announced the signing of Dutch central defender Regillio Nooitmeer to their squad for the 2007 season. Galway United has announced the signing of Dutch central defender Regillio Nooitmeer to their squad for the 2007 season. The 23 year old previously played with VFR Aalen (Germany), FC Luzern (Swizerland) and FC Dordrecht (Netherlands). Nooitmeer impressed boss Tony Cousins on trial and coupled with an excellent performance in United's first friendly encounter with the Kildare Oscar Traynor side, Cousins is delighted to add the Dutchman to his growing squad. "Nooitmeer was very impressive on trial over the last two weeks, he's composed on the ball, strong in the air and is sure to be a great addition to the squad for the coming season"

Don't tell me his last name is pronounced NIGHTMARE (Nooitmeer)!!!

ah Ultra, that'll always be associated with Dave Goldby. We'll have to get a new one for him

good find there Ceirtlis, I see he can play in a numerous amount of positions when called for which is a great bonus. My calculations aren't great but his height (I think) is 6ft 3' so hopefully can get up for the corners too.

I agree with Galwaygirl, that song is for Dave and Dave alone.

we already sing the same song? so ye would suggest not to sing the song we'll drink a drink for murphs cos it was about eric first. dont really see your logic there, football fans from clubs all over the world regularly change the words of songs to suit new players

Terry

my point is that Dave scored the goal that put sligo down and not some player who has yet to play a competitive game for the club.

It looks like yer all getting excited about this Regillio guy but does anyone have any info on him(or seen him play even), or are ye presuming that cos he's Dutch, he must be good?.

just having a bit of a laugh sligoman, no one knows anyting about the man yet! He could be a total disaster for all we know but I doubt it the way players that are on trial are being refused contracts at the club at the moment

Well he has actually played for some half decent sides ,has been on trial for over 2 weeks and if you search on the internet he has about 50 different places he appears.

2 of the trialists have been let go the finnish keeper and the american striker.Expect 2 more signings in the next 2 weeks bringing the squad upto 20 full timers.

i didnt say that he did score to put sligo down i said he will(hopefully). there's no harm in hoping for stuff to happen seeing as that is the case with most football chants

Im really ****ed off with all this talk about vinny faherty. Anyone who knows him knows that he is fully dedicated to his football! Yes, he loves going out, but he is very often out on the dry. I, know for a fact that vinny would do anything to play in England. Anyone who says that hes not good enough for league of ireland hasnt a clue about football. He caused trouble to every defence in the country at under-21 loi level.I know the premier eircom league is a huge step above u-21, but vinny is only 19. Im not saying hes unbelievable but he certainly deserves his chance abroad!!:ball:

There has been hardly any talk of him on here except for a few posters having a pop about his attidude. The main reason for this is him going missing for the Oscar Traynor Team !!!!!!!

Success in football is not just about talent, but about committment, practice and a bit of cop-on.

Ya, he was playing left back against Monaghan but I think he will find it hard to make the left midfield spot is own after the season Derek O'Brien had!:D Its good healthy competition!!:D

If shane is as good as everyone says, I think Derek could be the one starting on the bench
