Apart from here there seems to be no other clarification that O'Flynn has signed ! So is it official at all? Anyone hear any news on the goalkeeping front? I heard something about Pat Jenning jnr. making his way down here from derry too !

That'd be another gem of a signing aswell.
Was very impressed with him in the few matches i saw of him this year.

O' Flynn will be a great signing for you as he'd be sure to get you a few goals next season. Im surprised you are so happy about lester signing. He didnt really impress me any time ive seen him
I see Clive Delaney has been released by Derry. He's a major threat from set-pieces and a decent enough player.
Jennings is somewhat error-prone but can produce superb performances as well.
Tony might also look for any players Drogheda are willing to let go. They've already signed a Finnish 'keeper, Ollie Cahill and Stuart Byrne.
(They're also 6-1 for the league, three places in an each-way bet, with Hills. I've invested a nice bit on it.)

Stories doing the rounds in Bray are that Collie James has signed for Galway as well. Great little signing for your lot. Very under rated IMO

Fanstatic newz.He should be a good signing hopefully he'll score plenty of goals!!
I wonder would this mean Conor Gethins wont be signing coz Tony already has Murphy, Moran, O'Flynn in attack or will he sign one more striker?

i think he'll definitely need to sign another striker. barry struggled at first division level for long spells and murphs was ridiculously below standard last year. we need one more top drawer striker who can score at least 10-15 goals a season

Great news as I would class myself as a fan of O'Flynns.
Now who next? anybody know anything about this collie james lad?

he's supposed to be a pretty good player. he was on that eircom league under 21 semi-pro team in 2004. hopefully we can get him in as well. heres his profile from brays website

I see Clive Delaney has been released by Derry.
Delaney gone to Bray as far as I know
I was told today that Vinny Faherty from Salthill Devon has signed for Ipwich town, any chance of us taking Cian McBrien before he goes in the same direction? Young talent like these should be joining us before heading over, it would make the step up easier for them, and would be a good boost for Galway football in general!

Terry,
Ciano is one of my best friends so when i say he's simply not good enough for England i mean it.He's an ardent fan of GUFC and travels to his share of away games aswell as banging the drum at the home matches.
I have no doubt he'll play for UTD in the near future. He's a very good player, quite similar to Russler, but he's not good enough to cross the channel.

you were right about colm james, i dont know much about Armstrong is this up to date ? http://www.stpatsfc.com/player.php?playerid=23
If so why did he only play 6 games for Pats last season, was he injured ? or did he find it difficult to break into the first team ?

Armstrong was injured for most of the season, came back towards the end of the season. Not a prolific striker but another good addition to the squad.

and what a finish it was!
Can't say I was ever that impressed with Armstrong and if Pat's are willing to let him go (despite losing their strikeforce) can't be altogether encouraging.

We've added a precarious amount of middle of the road signings from what i can see. I know were not big boys in the league yet but I have mydoubts as to whether we should've let go some of last seasons squad. It's down to TC to bring the best out of them I hope he can do it. He worked some wonders when he arrived last season so i'll be wishing him the best in the new year.
Happy New Year to all on foot.ie too
Was told in town today that we have signed the Finnish u21 goalkeeper, anyone else hear this?

the only three players we should have tried to hold onto that we didnt were
Ronan Frawley - Not prepared to go fulltime
Raf - Only left Sligo because of Sean Connor
Dowdy - Very Unlucky not to be offered terms.
O'Flynn & Lester are excellent signings.Colin James I dont know much about but the Bray Fans on here were full of praise for him and Chris Armstrong hasnt been confirmed anywhere yet.
Letting 2 of the biggest knockers of GUFC Pineapple Stu and S. Duffy influence our own posters here and questioning Tony's abilities is a bit rich.

I have heard that we are linked with a Finnish 'keeper as well.
In Saturdays Sun, TC said that he had 15 players in his squad (including Armstrong, who was mentioned as having signed in the article) and is looking to sign 5 more.
He said that he would be looking at players currently based in the UK.

Armstrong and James are officially announcedhttp://www.galwayunitedfc.ie/squad/james-and-armstrong-sign-for-2007.html
TC says he is talking to 2 keepers and hopes to sign a few more players.
just when i was wondering would the website be updated.5 more players would be great and the centre forward could be cg i reckon.
any EL clubs signing any players from limerick?

From what i know Lester, James and Armstrong will be sharing a place together.
Confirmed here - http://www.rte.ie/sport/2007/0103/galway.html?rss
Armstrong looked pretty decent in his first few months with us but then did his knee ligaments and only came back recently. he was very unfit and looked reluctant to put in the effort in training/u21s games to get his fitness back. Maybe with a full preseason behind him he could be good again.
has potential to be a good strong target man
I thought he was alot older than that
Hopefully your optimism is correct Danny
We have O'Flynn and Murphy as it is anyway..

who is the other striker TC is talkin about on the website??
Dont forget Barry has played and scored at this level before johnny and i wouldnt give up on Conor Gethins who I know wants to come back its just down to his fee.
Fair enough Tommy about Barry - though he was poor pretty much every time I saw him last season.

he definitely has potential, great eye for goal when he is on song - he was in and out of the team and had a few lay offs with injury - so hopefully he can come on from last season and do a job if its from the bench even

I heard yesterday that we have signed an Australian goalkeeper who was playing in Wales, Bangor Town I think. Can anybody give anymore information if they have heard this.
I know hes a galwegian and all, but I seen a former player in Keiran Foley driving in the opposite direction of myself today on the dyke road, any chance that he could be the centre back that tony is talking about?
Whats the chances of having 2 players with the same name starting next season?
To me Keiran was an up and down player, and will be best remembered for scoring a hat trick against bohs in dalymount, sweet :)

What are the chances of gettin TC an invite to that wedding, to see what players he could sign? :D :D
The missus got an invite to the afters but we couldnt go as we are all sick at the mo. I could have kidnapped a few if I got out there !!! :D
On another note, who is that pictured on our website www.galwayunitedfc.ie , James or Armstrong?

Kieran Foley last played in the Premier Division in 2005-06 with a Shamrock Rovers that was relegated. He failed to impress their supporters.
Colin Hawkins may well be leaving Shelbourne if the Dublin club decide to go part-time. The likes of Bohs, Pats and Drogs will have first call.

it seems obvious but in all those pics on the official site they never mention who they are!!
im not as familiar with other league of ireland teams players in the premier
i want to know who im going to be bollicking/praising ha ha ha
I dont think Kieran Foley is going to leave a good job in the carribean to play with Galway United and Colin Hawkins and Bobby Ryan are reported to be on their way to Dunfermline once Shels finally implode.

Mick O'Donnell has been released and Derek O'Briens status has not yet been clarified for 2007, according to todays City Tribune.
Conor Gethins will be remaining at Finn Harps for the moment.
