I don't know how many other sad b@stards that there are that surf other clubs mb's, but has anyone been following the Bohs "Marketing Development Group"?
Basically they've been looking at improving the atmosphere and bringing more people into the grounds. They've made the Shed essentially a family stand, and have been giving out tickets to the local schools.... I was there for their game against Pats, and watched Friday's game on the tele - it certainly seems to be working (even if the little squealers are annoyingly high pitched!)....
Considering that crowds have been decidedly average in the Flansiro, is it time that we looked at running a similar scheme in Longford? Even if it was started in the Town schools initially (bearing in mind the transport issues with the country schools), it'd have to be an improvement........
Anyway, the link to their latest news (http://www.network54.com/Hide/Forum/thread?forumid=165304&messageid=1037031835)
have buses that run from different parts of Longford county. have a combined bus and match ticket! give it a go anyway?

someone mentioned a similar idea for city. e.g. buses from fermoy, bandon, clon or something- I think we should definitely try it
I mentioned it to Big Jim Hanley some time ago. He said that the idea in the near future would be to have players visit schools and provide free tickets á lá th Bohs... But if never happened as far as I know... If I want to bring my brother and their little pr*cks of friends it costs a few Bob, bad enough I can't drink and drop them home... As well as that a parent isn't encouraged to bring the little sh*ts because it would cost €20+ into the stand...
IMO we need crowd cover in another section of the ground for this to work... Anyway isn't our entire stand a Family/yes stand anyways!!
Cover section 'O'

Don't see why... yes it would be better if that was the case, but I don't see it as essential - free tickets should attract people anyway....

Yes it is, but it would be expensive enough to bring a family in there.....
The whole point of Bohs doing this is to get the kids hooked on going, and then they'll return for years to come..... And then take into account adults looking after them paying in, plus them stuffing their faces with crisps/ drinks etc (on top of Pauro) and maybe getting a programme..... Bohs gate receipts have increased by giving out free tickets, and that is before the fringe money making benefits..... tbh if I was Longford based I'd organise it myself, but as I'm not it's a bit hard for me to do much.....

Granted but they're not going to suffer the dampness some suffered at Pat's or Shels...
But it's a good idea not doubt about it, but as I said I suggested it along time ago...

In fairness the club have done a couple of "kids go free" games, but the fact of getting out to the schools and hitting them direct rather than the club notes in the paper...... This needs to be pushed, I'm just p!ssed off I'm not in a position to push it....

Yeah, with no strings attached and it was a mons game...
The place was like a creche and there was no need for parents...

They did give out free pass to a couple of schools about 2 years ago for a few home games...But what the club found was that the parents would drop their kids off at Flansiro & the kids would go into the match with no adult supervision & then pick them up after... The gate receipts did not go up for them games.
your missing the point Bohs are making Gheewizz... They handed out 10,000 free vouchers to schools with the condition that it allowed two kids in free with one adult. They had over a thousand extra paying adults at the Pat's game..

plus it gives the club 'community involvement' credits. i.e. people would feel the club gives something back to them for their support
