Trips to both Galway and Dundalk this year - which unfortunately we had the privilege of - would have told you instantly that one is a well-run, progressive club and the other is an amateur hellhole with delusions of grandeur.

From fans, players, backroom staff, stewards to board level, Galway know what they are at. The jax alone in Terryland would put EVERY other club to shame. Their marketing is spot on, they liase with the police and ensure the safety and comfort of large groups of away fans.

In contrast, Dundalk are just about reaching the mid 1970s. Their attitude to opposing players, officials and fans is disgraceful. Board members of another club told me that they had to put up with the exact same nonsense as Rovers did.

Bottom line - it would have taken the IAG roughly 20 seconds to discount Dundalk BEFORE even beginning to look at their 4 year record. And from what I hear, their presentation was a joke. I know of one large professional practice owed big fees by Dundalk. Dundalk's response? Move the debts to another company.

The mealy-mouthed moaning from Gill et al is pathetic. If they didn't know the criteria, they should hang their heads in shame. if they did, they should shut up and concentrate on winning promotion next year.

100& correct. After the farcical scenes on our last trip up there Rovers fans sent concerned emails to DFC. The response from one individual in the club was to slag off our homeless situation. Amateur hour stuff.

Galway on the other hand have done things professionally and are a very welcome addition to the top flight.

There's probably no point arguing with you but if you think that I started this thread to have a "calculated insult" at Dan, you must assume I've bugger all motives in life.

In other news, sales of handbags in the Dundalk and Galway areas have reached unprecendented levels. Retailers are at a loss to explain the unexpected boom which exceeds the usual Christmas shopping rush.

 ;) :)

Genesis were invited down to explain to the general public what was going on... all you had to do yourself was either turn up or get your own club to do the same!As far as I know, Genesis were invited to have a similar meeting in Dublin but refused. I'm sure someone involved will know the details.

That's nothing on the recent surge in sales of sour grapes and bitter lemons in the Dundalk area. Not traditional Christmas foodstuffs at all....

Aye, Derry took their 3 points deduction well too

Aye, Derry took their 3 points deduction well too

And as the FAI were forced to admit and agree, we were perfectly justified in complaining about their incompetence on that one....

Let's see the strength of any Dundalk or Waterford appeals to the IAG process.....

Perfectly justified my eye. The point is your fans complained bitterly, there's are doing likewise. Thats what all clubs fans do. So let them get on with I say...

There's a huge difference there Dodge, which that gammy eye of yours seems unable to see.

Did clubs sign up to FAI incompetence in the handling of suspensions at the start of the season ? No. But that's what some of us got.

Did clubs sign-up to a premier division in 2007 that would only be fractionally determined by on-the-pitch performace in 2006 ? Yes. And that's what all of us got.

There is a huge difference, spelt out clearly for you there in black and white. End of story.

End of story because you said so Steve? Derry profited from 2 (at best) iffy decisions from the league/FAI this year while others (Rovers, Bohs, Cork, Dundalk etc) suffered. So you backing them up doens't really come as a surprise.

if you want to go over how Derry's point deduction was different than Bohs or the "lets wipe the slate clean" Dublin City decision, go ahead but at least have the decency to acknowledge that fans of those clubs have a right to at least query the decisions

I thought when they signed up it was agreed that there would be no appeals?

Correct, there is no recourse to appeal the IAG decision. Unless you're Dundalk, and you appeal in the only way you know how.

100% iNCORRECT in fact.

there is recourse to appeal the decision

Just because it says on here there will be doesn't mean there will be. From this end I'd be very surprised to see Waterford appeal this.

However, despite seeing it said somewhere officially that there would be no redress, I did also think I read somewhere else that the make up of the Divisions would not be made completely official for a few weeks after the announcement, presumably to leave time for any legal challenges. Did I imagine this?

It would be a different story if Dundalk had failed to get a Premier License or scored poorly on off-field factors but Licensing/IAG clearly thought that Dundalk were adequately prepared for top-division football next season. The results for the previous 4 seasons (including points awarded for progressing in the League Cup:rolleyes: ) are what stopped them getting an invitation.

The jax alone in Terryland would put EVERY other club to shame.

Unless Galway provide multi-storey toilet facilities this statement is FALSE. :D

What was the alternative to signing up for this process.
Disband your club? Play in a breakaway league outside FAI/UEFA?

As a neutral I am much happier with Galway in the top flight than Dundalk but I have a bit of sympathy. But people should at least stop harping on about Dundalk signing up in advance.

A few of us have made this point already, but you'll just get ignored, apparantly no-one can give us an answer that doesn't involved personal insults :)

Dundalk may be a shambles as you say- but they still outscored you in off the field matters.

As previously pointed out just by 2 points which is embarrassing when you consider we have no home ground, previous David Brent owners made a mess of the license and our club nearly went to the wall last year. Still makes Dundalk a shambles.

No one gets it - this is about the future of Irish football. We lost off-field points due to our previous regime but going forward* both our IAG presentation and the way our club is run now got us into the new league.

Dundalk are a shockingly badly run club and were never ever getting in the new league.
