From the official site....

Shamrock Rovers striker Sean Francis signed for Longford Town this afternoon. The 29 year old former Birmingham City & Cobh player, who also spent 7 seasons at Shamrock Rovers has signed a 3 year deal. Mean while trialist centre half Stephen Grey has joined Drogheda United

Good signing, but where the fook is all this money coming from?? Hard to get players to sign for 3 years, yet with Francis and Lavine that's two in a couple of weeks...........

Sean Francis is Red & Black, Red & Black, Red & Black,
Sean Francis is Red & Black - HE HATES BUCKO!

Also on signings, good job Lavine signed that deal, as Derry chairman Jim Roddy said on soccercentral that they tried to sign King Eric.....

Beggers belief is that we signed Byrne for €6000 and Francis for €10000.....

Must be awhile since an eL club splashed that kinda dosh...

We could be in for a big fall...

A little birdy informs me that Alan Matthews put up the money himself and it was a lot less than 10,000. Also, it seems we're saving money on wages as we managed to get rid of Dalton who was earning more money than Francis will be getting...hope it works out

I don't think it's necessary to broadcast that...

I knew it... but posting it is obsurd... Same idiots with their we're signing Padraig Moran exclusive crap... and did we...

We don't need clubs knowing we may have money problems in the near future... It's also not fair on Matthews or Jim Hanley, and what they're trying to achieve...

I didn't say Alan Matthews put up the money because the Town don't have it, more that they wouldn't have had it in time for the deadline. He only became available tuesday and the deadline was Thursday. Matthews will be paid back. The people running the club, in particular Jim Hanley, aren't stupid, they don't spend money they don't have or won't be able to get. Matthews thought it was too good an opportunity to miss, which is why it was he who actually made out the cheque, and not the club. Wasn't trying to be an "i know something you don't know.." type. Just thought it was interesting and showed the type of commitment Matthews has to the club.

BTW who said anything about Padraig Moran...

yeah.. I get your point... It's terrific to see Matthews show that type of commitment and i misinterputed the tone of your post... but somethings are best left unsaid in these places, kinda learned that the hard way...

The example of Moran was that Derry caught wind of his availability thru our board and they signed him... and a good job they did:D
