Well it's easily our biggest away match in years and has the potential to be an epic match/night.
Rumours have it that we'll get over a 100 anyway down there so i think we should do our best to make the place as colourful and noisy as possible.
A win for us and Dundalk just drawing is good enough for the playoff's which would see us taking a massive step into nex years elite league.
So.......we have to let the lads know where very much there.(shouldn't be too hard considering we'll probably outnumber the home support!)
Anyway we'll have all the flags....tifo included.WE'll have the drums....although we should try and get the 1 that's went missing of late down there. We'll have 3 confetti grenade yokes....anyone who was in Athlone will agree they're a superb affect. What else?I know i mention it alot but we can get baloons?
Any other ideas?

Theres a shop called blooms and baloons on Dominic street. They usually do arrangements for weddings but they might be able to get a few maroon and blue balloons. Their number is 635840

surely you could buy cheap ones and let people blow them up before the game.

Ya but not maroon one's.It's impossible to get a bunch of maroon baloons in regular shops.I don't think the baloon effect would be as good if they were a range of colours. But i don't mind.Depends what everyone else thinks.

A bit of topic here, but the match is going to be broadcasted live by GBFM also, for those that wont be there.

there is no way i could listen to this match on the radio its a game you have to make every possible effort to make could be Historic or disastrous but im proud of our team this season only 5 losses and a points total that would have won the league last season.

What time is the bus leaving on Saturday ? I heard 1 o' clock but it says 2:30 in the programme. 1:00 would be better, its a long trip, theres a good pub in Tipperary and we have to check in to our house before the game.

Conor H

1 o clock.

AFAIK we'll be stopping in the Millhouse then onto Kilkenny.

There are approx eight seats remaining for anyone who wishes to travel up and down on the day. Call Ronan now at (087) 6972823 to reserve a seat.

I would love to be able to bring another bus, a 30 seater. If we get the numbers, we certainly will.

against a pi** poor side i assume tony will play a few more attack minded players in this one,ie;russell/mixie instead of carter in the middle, reilly instead of o.donnel at left back.i suppose it will be a straight swap with moran in for dowdy.
normally id think dundalk would be very hard pressed to get anything up in finn park but harps are now a shadow of their former selves and dundalk are a decent side now.i still believe it can/might happen but ill still be pleasantly surprised if it does-if that makes sense:) .
if we are winning comfortably near the end and get a peno goughie should be allowed take it:) .

how about a nice 4-3-3. havent seen that formattion much by united this year. moran, gethins and dowdy up front, sure we'd win by at least 4!

Shame I can't make the trip to Kilkenny as I'd have brought them.

But if we have a play-off Tuesday night!!!!

We have already failed to beat Kilkenny at home this year, so I wouldn't get carried away with thoughts of a walkover.

Its a "Carter and Foley" type game, rather than probing runs and impressive passes from other players. We will miss O'Dowd.

complacency is always our biggest problem. id settle for a scrappy last minute winner and Dundalk not to win in Ballyboffey.

GUISAUltra
17/11/2006, 10:38 AM
it depends, on whether we can get an early goal. i think if we score relatively early we can go on and win fairly comfortably but otherwise it could be fairly scrappy. hopefully the team will be able to handle the pressure of such a big game and do the job

GuisaSaigon
17/11/2006, 11:34 AM
Ciaran Foley is a slight injury concern, hopefully he can pull through, Dangerous Dave is obviously out, but we seem to be okay apart from those two, team news here http://www.galwayunitedfc.ie/match-previews/team-news-kilkenny-city-v-galway-united.html

cant beat kilkenny then we dont deserve to make the playoff let alone the premiership next season.it wont be easy but we should win it.our points haul this season is impressive considering the start we had and we are still only 3rd,shows how competitive the division was this season.the lads deserve praise for their efforts no matter what happens tomorrow night.i wont predict a scoreline but any win in kilkenny and any draw in finn park will be greatly appreciated.

Both Rovers and Dundalk have had tough games down there recently, so nobody should be expecting an easy ride. The nightclubs after the game are supposed to be alright though!

Weather is going to be cold, wet and probably windy. Have we played in these conditions this year.
Interestingly, Soccerbot.com predict us finishing 2nd. Harps have won, lost and drawn so far against Dundalk. Considering they threw the ball straight into the net earlier in the year at Terryland, robbing us of 2 vital points(how many times did we throw them away), hopefully they will feel guilty and put up a resolute performance against The Lilywhites. 1 up front and everyone else behind the ball should do the trick.

hopefully davitt walsh can find his scoring boots again and get one or 2 goals tomorrow night. he was flying at the start of the season til he got injured so hopefully he can find some form tomorrow

Best of luck to everyone tonight. For those that are still sober after the match and staying down the night, I heard a rumor that the club are staying down there too and going on the **** so it could be a cracking night by all accounts.

As far as i know the team are not staying down. There was talks of it a while back alrite but then when it came about, about the playoffs & when they would be on if we made it, it was decided against.

They are saying that the kilkenny goal came from a masive deflection and could go down as a o.g. depending on how the ref sees it
