it doesnt matter where we play pike we will give them a good game because we are a footballing team not a long ball team and pikes field is top quality so it should suit us as much as it suits them.

Hope all Wembleys kids don't start crying when Pike kick their ass. Wembley's bubble is about to burst. Hope it doesn't affect the rest of their season as premier football is Wembley's main aim. Remember now no crying!!

no minors available on sunday so we will be severely weakened without shane tracy, liam barrett and john tierney........ 3 best young players in town....still should give pike a run for there money.... still underdogs and will have nothing to lose... all the pressure on pike...

Peake Villa V Ferrybank should be an interesting last 16 game. Peake Villa and Ferrybank have both been performing very well this year and this game could turn out to be a cracker!!

surley they will play in the morning and play a bit in the afternnon. they are youths afterall.
plus knockainy are only 3rd division, surely no match for the super wembly youths.

I would say this is a lot of tongue and cheek going on woth players from both sides missing etc. silly mind games !!:D

They dont want to be takin any chances either, Knockainy will be no push overs especially outside in their field

if wembley are missing 3 minors who will replace them? what happens if they win and the minors are available for the next round, who gets dropped the juniors who took there chance or the minors?

no seriously.... you will see the team sheet afterwards.... the youths are serious contenders to win the fai so they cant take any chances especially away from home....will prob give a few of the junior players a chance too....not making excuses just stating facts that minors wont be there..... a previous post said something about the wembleys youngsters crying during the pike game.....so was only replying saying they wont be available....

jesus that youths game was absolutley brutal last nite. both teams were shocking. i dont think newcastle west put 5 passes together in the whole match and in fairness to newcastle wembley didnt either until the last 15 minutes

Yea I thaught Wembley would be a lot better, they were deserving winners I just think it's a pity that Newcastle West cannot play the likes of Wembley week in week out, NCW are running away with their own league with no dropped points 39 goals for and 4 against in 8 games, that will tell you how weak the youths league is in the Desmond League, Wembley should be serious contenders for the Munster Youths and FAI but will nedd to improve..

pike 3 wemblys 0 it could easily have been 5 r 6 only for lewis in goals, pike were to strong for them plus lewis was the at fault for the 3rd when mc,carry scored from a corner

I thought that if your Junior team was invloved in any of the 2 major comps then you were entitled to have any of the clubs other fixtures called off??
Would the minors have made a big difference?

They probaly would have done, cause we would have been up for it more, not taking away from pike they were very strong and very well organised..

Hi Abbey

That is only true for games in the same grade so the youthe game would not normally be called off as it is in the youths grade not the junior grade.

just wonderin ,you said that your minors would have given you a better chance against pike,is it that pike are not that good at playin and try to intimadate other teams phyiascally or just if you had some younger more skillful players you might hae ben able to xploit a weakness in pikes game,if there that big i would have thought a side with a couple of skillful wingers and 2 fast small mobile forwards would cause them trouble, they would have to bebang on with regards to tacklin in and around the box,i know that grattan sides pa connors has a wand of a left foot from frees and if figo is fit for grattan ehs goin to draw a lot of fouls, grattans forards are small and quick and it wont take much for them to go 2 ground, munster senior league refs as well for the game, they wont put up with any physcial side, tis not the way they ref the senior league so pike will have there hands full:mad:

Does anyone have a pitch that Newmarket Celtic could borrow for 2 hours on Sunday until we get Pike Rovers out of our way. As ye are aware our home gound is been developed and the field we are using is needed for a Gymkhana on Sunday .

Also had to move the sheep they were getting stuck in the mud and its lambing season and the stress which being stuck in the mud could cause them to abort. Do you know anything about sheep farming

Didn't see it myself , sick all weekend, result not unexpected but a bit more football recently wouldn't have gone astray for Newmarket I beleive. You can train as hard as you like but its regular matches that make the difference.
Best of luck to Pike and Nabs of course.
